Exit poll

Con majority of 68.

65 seats regarded technically as still too close to call. But that could mean an even bigger majority.

Blyth Valley has seen a 10% swing to the cons in line with the exit poll. 1st shock of the night

Swinson had a yawning gap in the market to fill. And missed.

Seriously, I can't think of another party actively saying that they don't want a certain type of voters votes from the get go! I mean really? Really?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 04:00

I really really wanted to like Swinson:
a young centrist woman leader
Sounded great

BUT
Her self-ID policy was blind stupidity and she refused to even allow debate
The LDems telling GC feminists we are not even welcome as members Angry

She is very authoritarian, which I cannot stand, whether from left, right or centre

dreichXmas · 13/12/2019 04:00

Nicola is a good political leader but she also has a shaky grasp of biological reality and would call herself a feminist.

Lucygoeswalkies · 13/12/2019 04:00

Flouncy you may have a point. Please don’t report me to the RSPCA!Grin

tobee · 13/12/2019 04:01

The difference with Swinson and losing her seat as opposed to Johnson and Corbyn more likely to be that she had a small majority.

dreichXmas · 13/12/2019 04:01

I agree BCF she was a disappointment but she didn't hide in a blinking fridge!!

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 04:02

She was vastly better than BJ, but that is a really low bar

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 04:04

I've never heard of Layla

Is she that bad ?

prettybird · 13/12/2019 04:04

dreichXmas - my dad's perception is that Swinson had been a good constituency MP initially but since she got back in in 2017, not so much so. And she's only latterly been the leader, so that's not the excuse.

Unbelievably frustrating in Wimbledon. Tories hang on by 628. The Lib Dems polled 19,745. Labour polled 12,543. Remainers were in the majority. Remainers lost.

Labour holds Perry Barr because birmingham is a fortress.

Looks like the Conservative supporters voted LibDem in North East Fife in order to get Stephen Gethins out. Sad

It's all those posh Uni students Wink

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 04:10

BJ repeated yet again "we will recruit 50,000 more nurses and 6,000 more GPs and we will build 40 new hospitals"

Noone will remember or care in a couple of years when another BJ lie slips away like a silent fart
