Exit poll

Con majority of 68.

65 seats regarded technically as still too close to call. But that could mean an even bigger majority.

Blyth Valley has seen a 10% swing to the cons in line with the exit poll. 1st shock of the night

Debating whether to give up and go to bed. Will prob put an earphone in and drift off to Radio 4 just in case it's not all doom and gloom

Hazardexhausted · 13/12/2019 01:40

flouncey yes DP same and it would require emergency landing so airlines say no and drs say no and insurance says no. Ferry maybe...living in brum we're quite far from the sea so getting to ferry would be a mission. Moving sick people is hard work... they never show these bits in the movies/t.v. - the excessive practicalities of ill health.

Mustress wheres good in Scotland? And dp will want to know do the Scottish hate him? 😂

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 01:41

It isn't all doom and gloom in Scotland DivisionBelles but I recognise that this is no consolation for people who do not live here.

RedToothBrush · 13/12/2019 01:41

Ian Warren @election_data
Very early but what @lisanandy and @centrefortowns has been saying about towns and cities looks to be panning out. Labour 27% ahead in the city seats already declared. But behind elsewhere, often by very large margins #GE19

Theres your leader.

She won't win. Too northern.

“wheres good in Scotland? And dp will want to know do the Scottish hate him?”

Certain areas in cities not so nice, other than that most of its good, lol

Why would he be hated?

@Hazardexhausted

Well - I am English and married to a Scottish man, and we moved here to Argyll three years ago.

I have not had any anti-English prejudice at all. We lived in London for most of our lives.

At least here in Scotland people can understand DH's accent.

There is a good deal of social housing available. (But not in Glasgow or Edinburgh).

You would both be welcome here, I am sure.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 01:46

red BJ has no political views, except Borisism
So he can appear a liberal Tory when it helps him
or very hard right, when that works
or an upper class twit, which disarms voters

He is a lifelong chronic liar, a master of the biggest most outrageous lies
So he can con any of the groups

He has no scruples
so he will stop at nothing to stay PM: dismantling an independent judiciary, making it much more difficult for Labour supporters to vote, outlawing strikes, peaceful demonstrations or online dissent ....

As PM he will now actually have to carry out Brexit and carry the can for what happens to the economy
How long can he satisfy any of the groups, other than the most authoritarian of the "strong right" ?

How far will he go to stay in power if Brexit crashes the economy and there are mass protests, even riots ?

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 01:46

I am also interested to know why your DP thinks Scottish (or Irish) people would hate him, @Hazardexhausted?

There are literally loads of English people living here in Scotland. Why would the indigenous population hate them?

They don't.

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 01:47

Jeez.

Turnout in Dunbartonshire East (Swinson's seat) was over 80%.

RTB re: "anti-semitism is a nice excuse to justify not voting labour if you are an affluent middle class professional who wants a certain social image. in reality - tax."

I fundamentally disagree with this.

I'm not Jewish but have a number of friends who are and they they have really struggled wrt their vote.

I assure you that tax is the least of their priorities and the majority have voted according to their views on manifestos overall.

BlackPeonie · 13/12/2019 01:57

Rutherglen and Hamilton West here, just woke up on the couch to see SNP have taken it back from Labour (SNP 2015, Labour 2017) ... thanks for all the commentary usual contributors for keeping me company until I apparently conked out... will lurk again in the morning 😩

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 01:57

Yay, Alliance win Lady Hermon's former seat ! 🎺🎺

I was expecting a DUP win there
