Westminstenders: The Undecideds

Apparently the pollsters are nervous.

There are far more undecided than there have been at this stage in recent general election.

This makes it a hugely fine line between a hung parliament and a massive tory majority.

The weather on Thursday isn't expected to be nice and this could affect turnout. The blue corner are particularly nervous about this, but don't forget those postal votes.

Whatever happens on Thursday at least this election campaign is nearly over. And that can't be a bad thing.

And Christmas is in a fortnight so we can all drown our sorrows or celebrate in style.

You always have time to restock the drinks if you end up resort to them on Thursday

(New election special thread on Thursday rather than bunging up Westminstenders BTW)

Weather forecast for tomorrow says the South of England will be a vertical lake, not so many less committed voters who decide to pop in on the way to the shops.

NarfZort
Page 48 is worth reading in its entirety, but the Tory website only allowes you to download it. You cannot link to it. The following link shows a highlighted version of the page. Pretty scary.

My DC is at Cardiff and is supposed to be voting there, supposed to have been registered last year so hope that’s happened.

RedToothBrush · 11/12/2019 19:49

I feel like I trust her more than Boris Johnson

Flip it.

Who do you trust LESS than Johnson. Who is also British.

It does look really wet tomorrow in the South and central England, but everywhere will see rain (or over high ground in the north snow).
Unpleasant. Poor sods standing at polling stations.

ListeningQuietly · 11/12/2019 19:50

squid / redtoothbrush
Can I ask, where do the actual turnout figures come from ....
When one votes, they tick you off ...
are those lists to produce the actual numbers
or is it based on some sort of sampled polling ???

Piggywaspushed · 11/12/2019 19:51

Fair play OP...No one .

Stinkyeddie · 11/12/2019 19:51

Yeah
Middle here
100% chance of rain all day

Stinkyeddie · 11/12/2019 19:52

I've always assumed so LQ

Piggywaspushed · 11/12/2019 19:54

I fear my DS may be put off by the vertical lake due in Lincoln tomorrow.
However, he has looked up polling station and times.

georgedawes · 11/12/2019 19:54

Question about the people who stand with the rosettes at the door..if you hand your polling card to them, is that an indication you're voting for them?

borntobequiet · 11/12/2019 19:56

More conversation with apprentices (17 - 25) today. More anger about Johnson lies and cowardice. More worries about jobs and futures. All eligible to vote intend to do so. None voting Conservative.

longtimelurkerhelen · 11/12/2019 19:59

@PurbeckStone Just seen this, they are not even trying to hide their bias now.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 11/12/2019 20:02

My polling station is inside a sports club. I feel sorry for the tellers sat there all day. Can I take them along a pack of biscuits or does that break rules?

ClashCityRocker · 11/12/2019 20:07

Dh may win the most spurious reason for voting Labour ever having previously been toying with spoiling his ballot.

Our front door has been on the verge of being buggered. We thought the lock was going but our both absolutely horrendous with DIY so have been trying to ignore it getting worse and worse.

Last night he had a dream.

In this dream, Jeremy corbyn passed him a can of wd40. And inspiration struck that him that this could be used to resolve the door situation.

Which it did!

So Dh has voted Labour on the basis that JC fixed his door.

Ah well, every vote helps.

TheABC · 11/12/2019 20:07

@DGRossetti, I am already ahead of you. I celebrate Yule, complete with mead, hot chocolate and the kids pyjama party. It actually makes for a nice counterpoint to Christmas.

TheABC · 11/12/2019 20:08

Also, Farage would never be the wicker sacrifice. Not worthy.

thecatfromjapan · 11/12/2019 20:11

georgedawes No.

Piggywaspushed · 11/12/2019 20:15

I think JC would absolutely do that is you had a door problem.

Boris , on the other hand , would lure your DH outside and then go in your house and shut the door.

georgedawes · 11/12/2019 20:20

Thanks cat. Why do they stand there then? I always wondered why some people show their cards and some don't.

thecatfromjapan · 11/12/2019 20:21

In from delivering last leaflet/eve of poll cards and about to catch up with the thread.

Love you all. ❤️❤️

I'm a teller tomorrow. I still have a touch of flu & a teeny bit nervous in case I muff all my info up/faint. 😁

I've been looking at tweets about activity in local marginals. My goodness - the energy and enthusiasm of the activists. Especially the young.

I'm in London & I do wonder what it's like across the rest of the UK.

So weird. Conservatives just vote. They love voting. You don't really have to do anything to get them to vote. And Johnson's campaign has kind of demonstrated that you just don't need activists if you are Conservative.

It's a crazy situation for other Parties. Labour do have lots of activists.

But the Greens, LibDems and other Parties?

We have a very, very messed up system in the UK.

Alsohuman · 11/12/2019 20:21

I love the door dream. Thank you for the much needed light relief.

NarfZort · 11/12/2019 20:23

Thanks @ElenadeClermont, I've got that. I'm trying to explain the implications of it to some people who've never heard of it. It's quite hard to do without sounding like Citizen Smith or an 'Expert'. Grin

I'm slowly sobering up though Blush, so I'll give it a go,

thecatfromjapan · 11/12/2019 20:24

@GeorgeDawes We check off who has voted. The data is collected for various reasons - to get an idea of turn-out, to not knock on people's doors later.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/12/2019 20:25

Well done for all your hard work cat I hope that you aren't going to be out in the rain.
