Apparently the pollsters are nervous.

There are far more undecided than there have been at this stage in recent general election.

This makes it a hugely fine line between a hung parliament and a massive tory majority.

The weather on Thursday isn't expected to be nice and this could affect turnout. The blue corner are particularly nervous about this, but don't forget those postal votes.

Whatever happens on Thursday at least this election campaign is nearly over. And that can't be a bad thing.

And Christmas is in a fortnight so we can all drown our sorrows or celebrate in style.

You always have time to restock the drinks if you end up resort to them on Thursday

(New election special thread on Thursday rather than bunging up Westminstenders BTW)

I love pretty much any programme with Ruth Goodman in it

My boss did some filming with her a while ago, she was an interesting character Smile

yolofish · 11/12/2019 18:48

I understand that 'convention' says that today is the end of campaigning - am I wrong to suspect there will be some kind of major Tory campaign tomorrow, given that Cummings likes to mix things up a little bit? (that's a charitable interpretation of his activities)

MockersFactCheckMN · 11/12/2019 18:53

There is no media coverage allowed whilst the polls are open, other than to note they are open and to perhaps comment on turnout but only at the national level.

On the ground, candidates are free to run around chasing down voters until 22.00

yolofish · 11/12/2019 18:54

ah thanks mockers so they have to go into purdah then? thank fuck for that!!

ContinuityError · 11/12/2019 18:54

@ListeningQuietly

Stonehenge used to be our lunch stop on the way down to Devon - back then you could clamber over the stones to your heart’s content.

I know people who have worked with her. I believe "barking" is a better description Grin
But then I've been enjoying Richard Hammond's Extreme weather and he's irritating as fury in RL Wink

Yolo
They can campaign all they like tomorrow but the MSM cannot cover it

yolofish · 11/12/2019 18:54

MSM - but what about social media?

georgedawes · 11/12/2019 18:55

Wouldn't surprise me yolo - take advantage of other people playing by the rules.

LQ every little helps as they say.

ListeningQuietly · 11/12/2019 18:56

Yolo
Pretty sure that MSM employees will be forced to close their phones
as if Laura tweets for Bozo and he wins the utterly toothless Electoral Commission might just grow a pair Grin

Stinkyeddie · 11/12/2019 18:57

LQ no. I just couldn't wait to leave.
Really odd.

georgedawes · 11/12/2019 18:57

I'm nervous :(

As an aside, I re-read All Out War recently, and Tim Shipman says the exit poll leaked for the first time at the last election (to the Tories). Wonder what will happen this time.

Stinkyeddie · 11/12/2019 18:58

I converted a lib dem voter today.
Sent her the tacticalvote link.
Won't make a bloody difference but...

Many years ago at a solstice there was a dowser talking about the "energy" coming up from the stones
that would be the concrete they have all been set in since the 60's said an archaeologist friend

ContinuityError · 11/12/2019 18:59

LQ “barking” most definitely! I don’t think my boss enjoyed the experience.

DGRossetti · 11/12/2019 19:04

Apparently this video is hard to find ?

NarfZort · 11/12/2019 19:05

Has anyone got a good link to an idiot's guide to Page 48 that isn't full of offputting party-political (or Guardian) icing?

I've a whole uninterested forum elsewhere who are finally showing an interest. Unfortunately I'm a bit Gin now and I'm not up to the job.

Alsohuman · 11/12/2019 19:07

I love pretty much any programme with Ruth Goodman in it

I’m completely the opposite, she sets my teeth on edge.

boatyardblues · 11/12/2019 19:10

DH got a hand-addressed letter from our woke LD candidate today. I didn’t. 🤷‍♂️

Stinkyeddie · 11/12/2019 19:14

You're anadult human female!

They don't care about you.

squid4 · 11/12/2019 19:17

Hi. Im tired. DP keeps texting me about the polls, so, if you're interested:

The YouGov Mrp is significantly underestimating younger voters. They are modelling with under35s turnout as per 2015, not 2017 when it was higher. there is good evidence it's likely going to be higher than 2017. They are also basing it on a 85-90% turnout amongst over 75s. This has never happened, ever. You can look at the image attached for how brazen this is.

Remember that poll also was conducted before Johnson’s car crash over the Leeds general infirmary story and subsequent fabrication of assaults & fake Facebook posts by Hancock and associates. Feels like a lifetime ago but really was yesterday!

Anecdote: DP plays footie with some lads in their 20s and 30s. On previous years, including 2017, some of them voted some didn’t. Yesterday they angrily told him they were all going to vote and they are making sure all their mates vote too.

I have friends who work in universities that are telling me the students are VERY organised this year and all know where to vote, uni or home.

Today in the hospital I heard three separate doctors say things along the lines of "There has never been a winter this bad" followed by "Ive been looking at Australia jobs". A nurse too. Morale is so low.

I have to hope.

Wow, DS is a student in Cardiff. Thankfully he decided to come home and vote here (key marginal).
