Apparently the pollsters are nervous.

There are far more undecided than there have been at this stage in recent general election.

This makes it a hugely fine line between a hung parliament and a massive tory majority.

The weather on Thursday isn't expected to be nice and this could affect turnout. The blue corner are particularly nervous about this, but don't forget those postal votes.

Whatever happens on Thursday at least this election campaign is nearly over. And that can't be a bad thing.

And Christmas is in a fortnight so we can all drown our sorrows or celebrate in style.

You always have time to restock the drinks if you end up resort to them on Thursday

(New election special thread on Thursday rather than bunging up Westminstenders BTW)

Thanks red

Can't load a PMK picture as I've used up today's allocation on the app Sad

Of the 3 leaders, I think Corbyn is the only one truly safe in his seat.

longtimelurkerhelen · 09/12/2019 20:48

I am really worried about a Tory majority. This is because I see a lot of similar things to the early Nazi party. All the xenophobic comments, the demonising of the poor and disabled (useless eaters), the intimidation of the press. All so very familiar. It is scary.

For me this is not the Brexit Election, it’s the Morality Election. A choice between Good and Evil.

Does anyone else feel the same or am I over dramatic?

I am hoping that there will be some shy Labour voters... One of my colleagues in the office who has always voted Tory has started appending the word 'but' to that statement. She's in Heidi Allen's former constituency.

Tokyo I'm in Hancock territory and sadly I think he's safe. We've had no canvassers either, at least not on the doorstep. DD2 had a Brexit Party one in town with her friends - they all burst out laughing at him, not sure that was the reaction he was after. But my town is very Brexity, very Tory, really quite unpleasantly right wing.

borntobequiet · 09/12/2019 20:58

PMK thanks again.

fedup21 · 09/12/2019 21:02

@ BlueGingerale what’s the general feeling in Uxbridge for this election?

I presume it’s been fairly staunchly blue for some time?

Is there any chance Boris might lose his seat? Is there a big student vote there?

@MaxNormal Fucks sake, I thought everyone would say I'm crazy! desperately looking for reassurance

yolofish · 09/12/2019 21:09

Thank you Red and all you who contribute. PMK nervously - my DDs are currently watching something called 'Ski A&E' - DD1 departs for a season in a chalet on Thurs, so watching massive ski accidents is kind of uncofo

Not overdramatic at all. I feel exactly the same. I think this is how many must have felt when Hitler came to power - "I don't like what I see, but what do I do?"

yolofish · 09/12/2019 21:10

oops posted too soon! uncomfortable...

MaxNormal · 09/12/2019 21:12

What's giving me the uneasy feeling is how weird and angry things have become, how far the bar has fallen in terms of publicly acceptable behaviour from our politicians, the lies, the collusion of the media..... given what's in the Tory manifesto in terms of changing the role of the courts, this feels like possibly the last chance to stop something very ugly.
I hope to hell I'm wrong.

Stinkyeddie · 09/12/2019 21:13

I'll be up with ds1 on Thurs eve/fri am...

DoctorTwo · 09/12/2019 21:13

I hope the fact that Johnson is dropping so many bollocks (as well as talking so many) and appears not to have paid much attention to his constituency mean the result goes against him.

Icantreachthepretzels · 09/12/2019 21:14

I agree helen - though in this instance it probably doesn't cheer you up to know other people agree with you. It would be nice to be exaggerating. But we're not.

blimey bluegingerale good luck! Uxbridge could be the absolute heroes of the election. The stuff of legends. Get out there and vote like the champions we know the people of Uxbridge can be. Ali Milani FTW!

All I can hope to do is help unseat Stuart blimmin' Andrew. I mean, who even is he?

CanIHaveADrink · 09/12/2019 21:16

PMK.
Thanks Red (and all the others that keep those threads going)

I still name change often and dint follow things closely atm. It’s just too much and not good for my MH.
I’m sure I’ll be back after the vote (desperate or hopeful I’m not sure....)

longtimelurkerhelen · 09/12/2019 21:20

Some light relief twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1204133009986850816

This is the only time I didn't want anyone agreeing with me. Sad

Even the talk of the genetics and AI stuff after brexit is worrying. Eugenics and the Terminator?

OublietteBravo · 09/12/2019 21:22

I work for a large multinational company. In my meeting today a very senior manager said something along the lines of “but what if a dictator decides to put a tax on ? What if Boris Johnson decides to do this before Christmas?” (The manager isn’t British and isn’t based in the U.K.) - no one suggested that this was a ridiculous suggestion. They can all see that Boris has the very real potential to be a dictator, and that this is something which could be imminent.

BlueGingerale · 09/12/2019 21:23

I have no idea if we can get Boris out here in Uxbridge. But they’re putting everything into it.

It’s always been Tory because John Randall was our MP and his family owned ‘randals’ the main dept store in town. A proper old fashioned sold everything store. So everyone knew him.

I think partly the reason Boris lost so many votes last time was because it’s not as Tory as it looks. It was Randall in particular who people liked.

It’s not a student town. You wouldn’t know Brunel was here. No drunken pub crawls etc. Brunel is full of London Asians who want to live at home while studying. Not sure how many will be eligible to vote in Uxbridge.

There’s full employment here. Loads of shops have Vacancy signs in the window. All the teenagers who want jobs have them.

We have enough school places. Some good schools some rubbish schools.

I can always see my GP the next day if it’s urgent.

No idea what the local hospital is like. I believe dangerously falling down.

Local police station was closed. Boris is promising to open it again :) and build us a complete new hospital.

Very multicultural like all of London. Hugely transient population at school. Last year out of 400 pupils 100 left and 100 arrived during the year. I presume most of their parents won’t be registered to vote.

I don’t really have many friend ☺️ so I don’t what the local mood is.

I asked at my local store was he worried about Brexit and he didn’t know what Brexit was :)

My German neighbour is very pro Brexit.....
