Westminstenders: The Undecideds

Apparently the pollsters are nervous.

There are far more undecided than there have been at this stage in recent general election.

This makes it a hugely fine line between a hung parliament and a massive tory majority.

The weather on Thursday isn't expected to be nice and this could affect turnout. The blue corner are particularly nervous about this, but don't forget those postal votes.

Whatever happens on Thursday at least this election campaign is nearly over. And that can't be a bad thing.

And Christmas is in a fortnight so we can all drown our sorrows or celebrate in style.

You always have time to restock the drinks if you end up resort to them on Thursday

(New election special thread on Thursday rather than bunging up Westminstenders BTW)

How much damage do you think the Ashworth story (telling a Tory friend Labour would lose) will do to Labour?

BackInTime · 10/12/2019 19:59

So Boris grabs a journalists phone when confronted with a photo of a sick boy on a hospital floor. Next a 'source' claims that a Tory aide was hit by a labour protester. This claim is later refuted but too late for anyone who just heard the fake news. Then we had the dubious social media posts claiming that the photo of a sick boy were fake. This all happened within hours, a major Tory social offensive has worked. People think the story is a fake and no one is talking about the sick boy, the state of the NHS or how Boris reacted without a shred of humanity to the picture. We truly are deep down the rabbit hole. Is anyone else massively creeped out by this Sad

I may be accused of hitting a Tory candidate now after I glared at him in a rather forceful way.

I assume I have become a rabid Momentum activist.

WhatwouldScoobyDoo · 10/12/2019 20:02

pretty yes that’s my constituency! “Never before have so many Morningside matrons voted for the Labour candidate” 😂
I hope he keeps his seat: he works really hard in the constituency and has a great Remain record.

squid4 · 10/12/2019 20:03

My SIL and brother have just told me they are voting Labour, they are in the southwest and though not tories always felt it was pointless voting labour there before and weren't keen. The tory majority was halved in 2017

Am hearing this a lot from the south west. Including ALL of DP's previously tory mates. Anecdotal, for sure

longtimelurkerhelen · 10/12/2019 20:07

@Piggywaspushed I know it is frustrating but you can't start shouting or abusing people because they don't agree with you. Please don't be part of the problem.

As soon as you shout at someone, they are no longer listening to you and any point you were trying to make will be lost. Calm debate is better.

thecatfromjapan · 10/12/2019 20:09

I'm not sure what the mother could have done.

Shouted 'wingardium leviosa' and have him float?

Facebook is truly where the Devil now roams, gathering souls.

RedToothBrush · 10/12/2019 20:09

I know it's late in the day - but here's a petition started by Femi to ask 10 labour and 10 lib dem candidates to endorse the other candidate in their marginal seat.

Some candidates have done this already - maybe we can get a couple more to.

There is real concern about what will happen in City of Westminster and in Kensington with the LDs and Labour splitting the vote and letting in the Tories.

It would be a disaster were this to happen in either.

I've just heard on the grape vine of a LD candidate with help of some LD councillors now actively distributing Vote Tactical Leaflets in order to get the Labour candidate elected and to keep the Conservatives out.

I'm led to believe that this isn't necessarily a one way action.

It seems like a last minute remain panic is very much in swing.

Too little too late?

Pretzels signed
Backintime yy it’s seriously scary I never ever thought this could happen here, always thought it was only in dictatorships in far flung countries it’s really frightening especially as it appears to me some people can not grasp critical thinking just seem to think & hear everything in simplistic soundbites.

thecatfromjapan · 10/12/2019 20:12

And call me a mean old cynic - but I'm now at the whole ' I wuz hacked' line.

I'll join you in that emoji

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2019 20:18

I think he deserved it helen. Perhaps if you worked in an already poorly funded school where you are now due to be £453 worse off per pupil in 2020, you would shout too.

Besides which, I was exaggerating. I didn't shout. I barracked a bit. He looked bored and I thought he needed waking up. Otherwise he'll think everyone agrees with him. In my defence the self serve till and toothache had already wound me up

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2019 20:18

And I definitely did not abuse him. Don't know how you have extrapolated that!!

Did anyone see the old lady telling her friend off in the working club on the news? It was very sweet really! You could hear her going 'Oh, Danny...' in the background.

She then said she wasn't going to vote for that 'silly Boris'. Hooray for her.

longtimelurkerhelen · 10/12/2019 20:27

@Piggywaspushed Trust me, I want to shout and scream at them, but it will only harm our arguments. I'm not having a go at you at all, it is after all under severe provocation. Just don't give them any ammo, you have seen what happens when someone points.

I truly believe the top lot are evil. Sociopathic at the least. Also I don't think I have ever seen anyone as constantly smug as Priti Patel.

WifeofDarth · 10/12/2019 20:28

Pretzels- petition signed and forwarded. I hope it works

I wish I knew what to say 😥💐

Stinkyeddie · 10/12/2019 20:31

Can anyone explain simply for the love of god how the polls can be right with so many undecideds????

RedToothBrush · 10/12/2019 20:34

Just shouted at/ harangued a prospective Tory MP in Sainsburys (Not my constituency but he was a sitting duck) : in the second most impoverished ward in the constituency in my neighbouring ultra marginal. Feel a bit better. He works, at present, for a Christian charity in overseas aid. Go figure.

Why do you think this OK and acceptable behaviour?

Because you felt better for your 5 minute hate?

You do realise this legitimises aggression against those who you support? And that in turn discourages decent quality people from standing?

How exactly do you justify it?
