Westminstenders: The Undecideds

Apparently the pollsters are nervous.

There are far more undecided than there have been at this stage in recent general election.

This makes it a hugely fine line between a hung parliament and a massive tory majority.

The weather on Thursday isn't expected to be nice and this could affect turnout. The blue corner are particularly nervous about this, but don't forget those postal votes.

Whatever happens on Thursday at least this election campaign is nearly over. And that can't be a bad thing.

And Christmas is in a fortnight so we can all drown our sorrows or celebrate in style.

You always have time to restock the drinks if you end up resort to them on Thursday

(New election special thread on Thursday rather than bunging up Westminstenders BTW)

I've had another overwhelming day at work and DP, who's al but changed his middle name to Don'tbelievethelyingpolls, has been trying to cheer me up by sendingme endless videos of big crowds in the northern tory-held marginals cheering and singing for Corbyn wherever he goes, in the pouring rain and gales

The lies and misinformation are really doing my head in.

(I know big crowds don't mean the entire electorate, but where is ... any ... public support for johnson?)

I'm knackered. I don't think thsi election is good for my mental health. I'm not really eating or sleeping. All my jeans are a bit big now. I'm drinking too much. Work feels very... personal. The state of it. I've tolerated it getting worse year on year for ages and now... I just feel like a pot of rage. ABout it. Not alone, lots of colleagues have said similar. Someone older I really trust and respect had day off today and I texted her cause so unlike her and she said "just not coping."

WhatwouldScoobyDoo · 10/12/2019 19:37

Torchlightt my constituency has been labour, with quite a large majority and a well-liked MP. SNP were second, Cons third, Lib Dem last in 2017.

I have also had leaflets from Libdems saying only they can keep the SNP out here !!!!

Small boy on the floor at the LGI - a few of my FB people are now disgusted at the Mother for putting her child on the floor. So this is no longer about there not being a bed for the child, this is now poor parenting by a Mother. Same people shared the 'my friend a senior nursing sister at the LGI' post. It really is fascinating in a way.

prettybird · 10/12/2019 19:43

I think I can work out which constituency you are in Scooby : is it the one where if the Labour vote collapses again , he is the only Labour MP who would retain his seat?

ListeningQuietly · 10/12/2019 19:46

You have to remember that media owners have a great deal to lose of Bojo does not win an outright majority

and the BBC top brass know that since the beginning of the Brexit coverage, the half of the country that used to defend them no longer does

Its all to play for.
Corbyn will not get nor does he deserve a majority
Swinson will not get nor does she deserve a huge surge in seats
Farage will not get nor does he deserve any seats at all
Johnson will not get nor does he deserve enough of a majority to carry through Brexit

we just have to hope that the haggling does not take us too close to the end of January without a deal of some sort being pushed through by a critically divided house

after that
Fuck Knows GrinXmas GrinGrinXmas GrinGrinXmas GrinGrinXmas GrinGrinXmas Grin

Icantreachthepretzels · 10/12/2019 19:47

I know it's late in the day - but here's a petition started by Femi to ask 10 labour and 10 lib dem candidates to endorse the other candidate in their marginal seat.

Some candidates have done this already - maybe we can get a couple more to.

Just shouted at/ harangued a prospective Tory MP in Sainsburys (Not my constituency but he was a sitting duck) : in the second most impoverished ward in the constituency in my neighbouring ultra marginal. Feel a bit better. He works, at present, for a Christian charity in overseas aid. Go figure. He didn't look busy so I thought he might fancy a debate. I think he decided I wasn't very good fodder for one of his incessant, inane selfies.

I am so fed up of Brexit Brexit Brexit.

He told me he was in a low paid job so 'couldn't pay higher taxes' to support education and social care and the NHS, he told me I wasn't letting him speak and I told him that was because he was just going to lie, like the 88% of his party's ads.

I cannot get beyond a Christian charity worker supporting Brexit, austerity, lower taxation on the wealthy, and a cut to overseas aid and standing behind a PM who said what he said about immigrants.

But someone once told me Cafod were a bit dodgy, so who knows...

prettybird · 10/12/2019 19:51

Re the "dreadful mother for putting her son on the floor" stories Hmm - I have a picture somewhere of ds, aged 11 months, sleep on a floor in Heraklion Airport after we had problems following a refuelling stop there on the way back from Skiathos. He is wrapped in my pashmina, which fortunately I'd taken off the plane. It was genuinely the most comfortable place for him as he could sleep undisturbed, without me shifting about trying to get myself comfortable on the very un -comfortable airport seats. I don't expect that hospital chairs are much more comfortable Confused

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2019 19:54

He also tried to lie to me about education funding which did not go down well.
