Don’t know why, he’s still gorgeous (in the eyes of a woman of a certain age).

stophuggingme · 04/12/2019 10:50

What does PMK stand for?

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 10:55

@stophuggingme - PMK stands for 'place marking'

I really hope the good people of Chingford listen to him. He's just a boy - standing in front of a crowd - asking them not to vote tory
That boy was a fictional character invented by a schmaltzy screenwriter. This is a man who was arrested for paying a woman to get down on her knees in the footwell of his car and suck his dick.

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 10:59

some cartoons - hope they show up.

so vote tory.
I'm sure none of them have ever done anything similar Hmm
God knows we should just accept the destruction of the NHS, hard brexit, austerity on steroids, increased homelessness and further thousands of avoidable deaths due to government policies - just because the man campaigning against this paid to get his dick sucked back in 1994.

Or we could applaud anyone willing to put themselves out there and face criticism and give up their time - here in 2019 - in order to stop all of the above. We don't have to expect campaigners to be perfect. We don't have to agree with everything they've ever done. We don't even have to like them - we can still appreciate what they are doing today to make the country better.

It's about priorities.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 04/12/2019 11:07

Just a boy.

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 11:07

@Hottap, that was 25 years ago ffs.

TheElementsSong · 04/12/2019 11:09

I'm glad to hear that Tory politicians and supporters, by contrast, are morally perfect beings and have never set a foot wrong in their whole lives.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 04/12/2019 11:09

See Irony.

Hope it works Here’s Hugh as an Actual Prime Minister
If only one of them was this good looking I’m sure the Tory Lead would be non existent 😉

uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-economy-pmi/uk-services-sector-hobbled-by-politics-pmi-idUKKBN1Y8119

Britain’s services sector shrank in November to mark three months without growth for the main driver of the economy, a survey showed on Wednesday as uncertainty over Brexit and an imminent national election weighed.

TheElementsSong · 04/12/2019 11:25

Weird thing is, I think men who use prostitutes are appalling. So, frankly, I'm not a big fan of Hugh Grant. However, as an individual, he has as much of a right to speak out as any other individual. And, if we're going to rubbish Hugh Grant's campaigning on the basis of his poor moral fibre, the genuinely UN-IRONIC thing to do would be to rubbish anybody's campaigning if they have exhibited poor moral fibre. What is IRONIC is using Grant's shitty history to discredit what he has to say, whilst fervently ignoring the even shittier history of particular other people.

So, I'll go first: Hugh Grant has poor moral fibre, therefore those of appropriate rectitude should rightfully ignore all he has to say.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2019 11:28

Hugh Grant now looks like a ropey old cad. Sleazy and grim.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2019 11:29

But - yes I defend his right to campaign politically. Why not.

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 11:30

He certainly did as Jeremy Thorpe. As himself just no. Have you seen what most men his age look like?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 04/12/2019 11:30

I’m not disputing his right to a voice in fact I applaud his principles. I just find it highly IRONIC considering the exact same approach has been repeatedly used to discredit people on the ‘other’ side, for distasteful and innapropriate behaviour, whilst simultaneously upholding others with similarly atrocious backgrounds as if they are a paragon of virtue. I personally don’t care what Hugh did 25 years ago, but then the same should apply in reverse imo.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2019 11:34

Yes I have and Hugh has not aged well comparatively.

Jeremy Thorpe was the perfect role for him.

TheElementsSong · 04/12/2019 11:36

Great then Shit, we're in hearty agreement and I repeat: "Hugh Grant has poor moral fibre, therefore those of appropriate rectitude should rightfully ignore all he has to say."

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 11:37

You should see what I wake up to every morning then! Good thing I love him!

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2019 11:38

😂

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 04/12/2019 11:40

“Great then Shit, we're in hearty agreement and I repeat: "Hugh Grant has poor moral fibre, therefore those of appropriate rectitude should rightfully ignore all he has to say."

I feel like you are somewhat missing my point! 😉Anyone who politicises themselves and comes from any sphere of influence, should rightly be up for scrutiny, not just have their pasts ignored and not addressed. I just feel this should be applied equally, not selectively IYSWIM.

Peregrina · 04/12/2019 11:41

Hugh Grant isn't the Prime Minister, or in the Cabinet or even in politics. That is why people discredit 'the other side'.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 04/12/2019 11:41

I don’t think he should be ignored at all, but fair’s fair, if you scrutinise others, then scrutinise all.
