So how many mandates do they want?

None, obviously.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 06/12/2019 11:05

Labour have said they will happily grant Scotland an indyref, but its timing, Corbyn wants a couple of years so that things he plans on introducing has had an impact on peoples lives and Sturgeon wants it in the first year, I'm sure the Tory enabled austerity helps the cause for independence as rightly it should, why should Scotland have to take more of it, but a socialist government that tackles the underfunding of services including a fairer funding model for the nations will hinder the SNP cause I should imagine, would that be fair to say pretty?

Greykitten · 06/12/2019 11:08

So Johnson's racism is out on public display now. Non-white immigration should be subject to "democratic control". But only non-white immigration.

What a disgusting man he is.

Greykitten · 06/12/2019 11:10

On the subject of Mr Racist PM's racist speech,
^
"The bizarre thing about a deeply worrying speech is that abolishing Freedom of Movement was about targeting the ability of Europeans, particularly East Europeans, to live and work in the UK. You have to wonder where Poles, Italians or Romanians fit in such a racialised worldview"^

JustAnotherPoster00 · 06/12/2019 11:11

From that report Corbyn revealed

Does Boris Johnson want a united Ireland? I imagine that he must do, and if he can 'blame' the Irish, both north and south, instead of his own incompetence, even better.

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 11:19

But the thing I'm now grappling with is the intransigence of the recipients who are having stuff done to them and still vote Tory. Because you know Brexit will be grrrrreat.

Lonelyplantmum, I totally understand. Working within disadvantaged communities I hear this quite a lot...people still blaming the EU for their woes and that they 'won't let us leave'. 😭😭 No matter what I say, they just don't believe me. There is a small part of me that thinks, how can you not see the truth and if you are going to be so ignorant then you're on your own!

I soon snap myself out of it but it is so frustrating. Labour's manifesto I really believe could be the start of something great...not just for disadvantaged communities but for everyone. If this opportunity goes, we will sleepwalk into a nightmare we won't ever wake up from.

Piggywaspushed · 06/12/2019 11:20

He very noticeably looks down at his notes after his people of colour comment : anyone else think he thought bugger, I just said the wrong thing...I accidentally said what I really think

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 11:24

He probably does want a United Ireland. I want one too but I'm not prepared to see people suffer as rhendriving force whereas that monstrosity of a man is. Even Sinn Fein who has reunification as the ultimate goal wants Boris stopped and for us to remain in the EU even if it pushes reunification back years.

Johnson is diabolical. Tory voters keep acting like he is their bezzie mate, referring to the creep as Boris and laughing at his shtick like it's all hijinks. He hates them and they can't even see it.

Greykitten · 06/12/2019 11:29

Don't agree with this - I think that with the BXP falling apart, this is a deliberate bid to win back the racist vote that the various Farage vehicles have picked up in recent elections. With Labour squeezing the LDs, Johnson has to find a way of squeezing the BXP, and there is one thing (apart from Brexit) that all remaining BXP voters have in common.

lonelyplanetmum · 06/12/2019 11:30

Oh my goodness that twitter Channel 4 link posted by Justanother

Our very own Trump really did say that whilst people of colour are welcome they are the ones we want to control. He did say that.He really did.

This specimen was foreign secretary FGS. His gov stats show that under his government's watch white immigration has fallen and non white has increased. If people of colour is his goal he isn't delivering there is he.The reverse in fact.
Perhaps he is starting to soften the new faragist Tories up - aiming for renewed EU membership and reinstated EU immigration... justified by saying that wasn't the real agenda anyway??

colouringinpro · 06/12/2019 11:32

thecat squid Flowers

thank you both for the encouragement. Struggling with all this today on top of exh who resigned from job yesterday (bipolar, very stressed, now no job and not in good mental shape) Sad

DGRossetti · 06/12/2019 11:33

He probably does want a United Ireland

He doesn't give a shit about Ireland, or the Irish.

DGRossetti · 06/12/2019 11:34

I wonder what "The Saj" (as no one sensible ever calls him) thinks about Johnsons POC remarks ?

Or Priti "Patel of Colour" ?

I bet they are nowhere to be seen these next couple of days.

Alsohuman · 06/12/2019 11:34

He doesn’t need to win BXP members, the Tory party is the only place they’ve got to go. I’m with Piggy.

Greykitten · 06/12/2019 11:36

Though I've just heard that the Tories are bleating that he actually said "talent" (he didn't), so perhaps piggy is right - it said "talent", he said "colour".

lonelyplanetmum · 06/12/2019 11:36

I accidentally said what I really think

It makes me laugh when they do that. A friend of mine (walking his dog) bumped into Zac Goldsmith ages ago near an environmental meeting by Richmond park with the local press in attendance. They had a brief exchange along the lines of are you going over there for the meeting. Goldsmith actually said " I'm just here for the publicity." then corrected himself and said " I'm here to support the locals over this important issue ''" etc. However the truth had already come out first.

Like JRMs comments on Grenfell. His true thoughts were 'This wouldn't happen to me as I would save myself with my superior abilities to think for myself and disobey the fire authorities.'

DGRossetti · 06/12/2019 11:37

Remember a certain posters obsession with Labour anti-semitism ? This is what Boris looks like when he appeals to that section of society.

Be a couple of hours before the bots can wargame the best apparent response other than soundbites, I reckon ....

Peregrina · 06/12/2019 11:37

With Labour squeezing the LDs, Johnson has to find a way of squeezing the BXP,

Will this backfire in the Labour 'heartlands'? Where people might have given Farage a vote, but voting Tory is a step too far?

Boris Johnson says “people of talent” not “people of colour.”

Our earlier tweet was a mistake. We misheard and we apologise.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2019 11:42

I had a medical appointment this week. The person I saw was visibly close to tears under the pressure. They were so apologetic about this and so frustrated with the system. I wanted to make them a cup of tea and give them a biscuit, but all I could do was empathise, which made things worse I think for them. I came away tearful myself that I'm stuck in a system that leaves me in pain, with no solutions until we've done all the hoop jumping and tearful for the person I saw who clearly was overwhelmed.

It's just shit. Then we see the lies and propaganda and that makes me angry too. I want to rage and scream at them to stop, just stop because they are breaking people.

CendrillonSings · 06/12/2019 11:43

Channel Fake News?

It's almost as if they're getting desperate Grin

prettybird · 06/12/2019 11:43

JustAnotherPoster00 - you're still falling into the trope that the timing of Indyref2 is down to the benevolence of Corbyn in Westminster Hmm. It's not - it's - or should be - up to the Scottish people.

It's up to Labour Unionists to then argue the case for continued membership of this "Union" (I deliberately put that into quotes, because it's not a true Union of equals) and that they will guarantee a fairer future for everyone, including Scotland, within this "Union" (spoiler alert: they can't guarantee that).

It's very likely that Scottish Labour will be relegated to 3rd place in Scotland again in the GE (in either or both the popular vote and the number of MPs) - as they already are in the Scottish Parliament.

So what right do they have to dictate timing?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/12/2019 11:44

I didn't see the video and it has gone now. What is the truth?

Greykitten · 06/12/2019 11:45

Well, C4 have been sat on from a great height ;)

I guess this is a lesson along the lines of "lie down with dogs, get up with fleas" - if you play the dog-whistling fake news game, at some point it'll come back to bite you.

I don't have the benefit of an edit suite and it sounds closer to "colour" than "talent" to me... and of course part of the reason for that is that Johnson has shown himself to be racist so many times in the past that it's easy to believe he's being racist again.
