He can't bare any scrutiny or questioning. Coward.

James O'Brien
@mrjamesob
Johnson & Neil have both been paid epic amounts of money by the Barclay brothers to promote their business interests in the Telegraph,Spectator, government etc. But here’s a meaningless pantomime designed to let you pretend otherwise. How much do they pay you
@afneil
?

thecatfromjapan · 05/12/2019 20:10

The Andrew Neill link again:

thecatfromjapan · 05/12/2019 20:14

I'd hope Neil would have asked about page 48 in the Conservative manifesto.

It strikes me this is so, so important.

It's so abstract it's going to go over a lot of the electorate's heads but it's pretty crucial.

So many of us on this thread see/fear Brexit as a Far Right power grab - and there, in the manifesto, is evidence of our fears.

It's at least as important as the NHS - but its importance needs to be communicated to people.

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 05/12/2019 20:25

Oof, this tweet did not go as well as she was

“Who would you prefer as Secretary of State for Education?

Angela Rayner, who left school at 16 without any qualifications?

or Gavin Williamson, who has a university degree, was a school governor and is married to a former primary school teacher?”

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 05/12/2019 20:25

*as well as she was expecting Hmm honestly my brain is fried tonight.

tobee · 05/12/2019 20:31

Another link to twitter that's not working!?!?

DGRossetti · 05/12/2019 20:55

Sounds like a recruitment drive for Labour is underway ...

Boris Johnson says Labour would ‘rig’ second Brexit referendum to ensure Remain wins

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 05/12/2019 20:57

How weird! It’s vanished but the tweet hasn’t been deleted. This is the tweet, and the replies below were just “Angela. We’d prefer Angela.” all the way down.

"The Tory Party Manifesto reads less like a blueprint for dictatorship or renewal than a word salad of vague aspirations that reflect a leadership faction so absorbed with the effort of staying in power they have no coherent grasp of how to sustainably use it"

Discuss.

Is the idea of Johnson worse that the reality is likely to be? Is he just so terminally useless that he won't actually do anything?

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 05/12/2019 21:05

prettybird Thank you for that explanation, that makes sense. I wonder what happens when they exhaust the list? Cardboard cutouts of Brexit MEPs? Shock

Alsohuman · 05/12/2019 21:13

Boris Johnson says Labour would ‘rig’ second Brexit referendum to ensure Remain wins

My granny would have said he was weighing Labour’s corn in his own bushel.

TiddleTaddleTat · 05/12/2019 21:13

Utterly glad to hear the Twitter commenters stuck up for Angela Rayner on that one. She left school at 16 as she had a baby, then returned to study part time as an adult and retrained as a social worker. I'd prefer her too!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/12/2019 21:16

In DGR's Independent link Johnson said "they want to spend another three months negotiating some new deal" [then stuff about not being able to find out what that deal might be, so he clearly can't have read the Labour manifesto] "then have six months or a year for another referendum campaign on this weird deal that he wants to do" -- I am not sure how he can state that it is weird if he also says they can't find out anything about it, and I thought that according to the Labour manifesto it was to be three months to negotiate a deal with the EU and then three months to the referendum, meaning that it will be in June?

Where does the line come between inaccurate and misleading waffle, and lies?

ListeningQuietly · 05/12/2019 21:20

prettybird · 05/12/2019 21:23

Utterly - it's highly unlikely that they'd exhaust the list as the only times they need to resign is if they are elected as MPs (or other elected legislatures) - or die or properly resign.

Just changing parties are becoming independent is not enough Hmm

mybrainhurtsalot · 05/12/2019 21:23

Anyone of the thread in the Altrincham area having a Christmas party this weekend?

So strange one this and bit of a punt but...is anyone in the Altrincham area having an office Christmas party/lunch early next week and, well, wouldn’t mind if I came along and talked to you about politics?

Alsohuman · 05/12/2019 21:25

Dominic Grieve for Beaconsfield

"It's not an election like any other election we had. I feel like it is in fact a proper national emergency" - Hugh Grant on his visit to Beaconsfield this week.

Ellie56 · 05/12/2019 21:26

All Bozo wants to do is attack the Labour party in order to deflect attention away from him and his wiffle waffle and lies. That way he can prevent anybody getting close enough to hold him to account. Angry

And what's the betting the lying filthy tow rag doesn't do the interview with Andrew Neil?

ListeningQuietly · 05/12/2019 21:27

Anybody know where the supposed Southampton debate between Boris and Jeremy was due to take place?
Or was it always lies and spin?
(Because ALL the large venues are already hosting events tomorrow)

JustAnotherPoster00 · 05/12/2019 21:32

Could our resident statisticians please have a look at this I dont know enough to know if this is bollocks or not

JustAnotherPoster00 · 05/12/2019 21:36

Does this 1 work? The Angela Rayner tweet that was mentioned by Utterly

twitter.com/emilyhewertson/status/1202602640787542017

ListeningQuietly · 05/12/2019 21:40

Justanother
None of the points raised in that thread contradict those I've seen elsewhere
there are a few too many "if...then" statements
and making changes be cumulative rather than replacing is a bit of a stretch
BUT
the underlying conclusion is likely to be correct

PeninsulaPanic · 05/12/2019 21:40

Well, if he does do the interview he can swot up for it and give the answers people 'want' to hear, thanks to Neil disingenuously previewing his list of questions. It's probably a set-up, designed to win BlobJob some bonus 'benefit of the doubt' votes in the last few days before the election. "Oh look dear, that nice man Boris has given us his interview after all. And he answered all the questions so reasonably. That ogre Corbyn isn't a patch on him." Hmm
