Boris Johnson was empty chaired by C4 with a block of ice.

The Conservatives went mental and have threatened to look at C4 broadcast remit.

This is illiberal and anti democratic.

Journalists are supposed to hold power to account on behalf of the public. If MPs don't turn up then they can't be held to account.

They have a duty to show. It's not good enough to avoid scrutiny because it might make you look bad. That's the whole point.

The contempt with which Johnson holds the press and public is reprehensible and you should be concerned whatever your political alligence. It allows corruption to fester without consequence.

And to then threaten C4 because they do their job in line with their responsibility as a broadcaster is alarming.

This is how authoritarian dictators work.

'No. That's not true.'
They won't believe you as they're not really interested.

And this is the point - In a functioning democracy - where you simply cut them out of the conversation. Like we have done with flat earthers, climate change deniers and young earth creationists. We don't stop them holding the view - but we don't invite them onto news programmes to discuss their delusion like it is a legitimate view.

Unfortunately, in this case, the media and the politicians have a vested interest in continuing to encourage and legitimise this viewpoint. Their false facts are included as 'balance'. And just including them further legitimises their viewpoint to the viewers at home - because if it's being discussed on the news then there must be some basis, some truth to it. It's an alternate opinion - not a lie. Not a delusion.

The media in this country have a duty to stop interviewing these people and start telling their viewers the reality. Whether their viewers like reality or not. Sticking only to facts and to real experts. Like they do with climate change now. There's no hope for the BBC - but Channel 4 should be doing better.

I've got family with Theresa Villiers ?

Our MP is a bag carrying nobody promoted way above his capacity.

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 21:58

Bridgen

I win??

PigeonofDoom · 02/12/2019 22:04

Philip Davies.

I think I’m a contender

Piggywaspushed · 02/12/2019 22:05

I still think I am up for a win with Dorries.

Icantreachthepretzels · 02/12/2019 22:05

Mine's a cunt - but he's a pretty low profile cunt.

Alsohuman · 02/12/2019 22:06

So many to choose from.

Piggywaspushed · 02/12/2019 22:06

pretzels Grin

Alsohuman · 02/12/2019 22:06

Anyone got Rees Mogg?

HesterThrale · 02/12/2019 22:08

Nobody got McVey, Gove or Leadsom?

My MP is Tory - safe seat. However, I notice far fewer Tory posters up this time. Some local Leavers are fed up with him because they feel let down that we haven’t left yet.

ListeningQuietly · 02/12/2019 22:11

Stinkeddie
He is well up the list of bleugh

BigChocFrenzy · 02/12/2019 22:12

"But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

Jason118 · 02/12/2019 22:29

I've got loathsome, it's very sad

QueenOfThorns · 02/12/2019 22:32

I think we have a winner!

OopNorfDahnSarf · 02/12/2019 22:32

I think I am in the same seat as Tobee. Previously safe Tory. No one ever bothered to canvas or leaflet. This time we have been visited by all 3 parties and we are being leafleted every day.

ListeningQuietly · 02/12/2019 22:32

I do feel lucky - my MP is very moderate and I'm happy to vote for him (even though his party leader is a Wazzock)

Ellie56 · 02/12/2019 22:35

Forgot about Loathsome. Is that a safe seat?

Ellie56 · 02/12/2019 22:40

Mine's a safe Tory seat with an ERG member but a fairly low profile one. She got more votes than all the other candidates put together last time. Angry

I filled out my postal vote tonight and voted not Tory.

SwedishEdith · 02/12/2019 22:40

I remember a Twitter thread about this. I think Essex and Northamptonshire came out as having the worst set of MPs. Both have been lumbered with the shallow end of the talent pool. Leadsom is going nowhere, sadly.

thecatfromjapan · 02/12/2019 22:47

Just seen the C4News focus group.

I think they like the attention, want to feel special. It's a spin in the 'aspirational' Tory voter.

They are bogglingly dim.

thecatfromjapan · 02/12/2019 22:50

And I can't be bothered to dress it up.

They're inflicting disaster on the UK in return for a fleeting feeling of being special.

I'm fed up with all of them.

People dying in the streets, life expectancy falling, the Far Right in power & the UK destabilised.

No. I can't forgive them.

Jason118 · 02/12/2019 22:53

I'm surrounded by numpties - Loathsome is safe

Dontlickthetrolley · 02/12/2019 23:13

I've got an ERGer who invited Lindsay Lohan to switch on the Christmas lights in 2016 cause she was disgusted our town had voted leave on Referendum night (as was I!) Loathsome is about a 25 minute drive away and in the next constituency is John Bercow's favourite Mr Peter Bone

Dontlickthetrolley · 02/12/2019 23:16

SwedishEdith yes, that sounds about right. The constituency to my other side, the sitting Tory has allegedly been given over £66k by a Russian businessman towards his campaign. Northamptonshire the gift that keeps on giving Envy not envy
