Boris Johnson was empty chaired by C4 with a block of ice.

The Conservatives went mental and have threatened to look at C4 broadcast remit.

This is illiberal and anti democratic.

Journalists are supposed to hold power to account on behalf of the public. If MPs don't turn up then they can't be held to account.

They have a duty to show. It's not good enough to avoid scrutiny because it might make you look bad. That's the whole point.

The contempt with which Johnson holds the press and public is reprehensible and you should be concerned whatever your political alligence. It allows corruption to fester without consequence.

And to then threaten C4 because they do their job in line with their responsibility as a broadcaster is alarming.

This is how authoritarian dictators work.

I've got an ERGer who invited Lindsay Lohan to switch on the Christmas lights in 2016 cause she was disgusted our town had voted leave on Referendum night

Huh. I didn't know that Lindsey Lohan had ever expressed an opinion on the EU referendum. My opinion of her has just gone up. And I didn't have a low opinion of her to start with.

Terrible death of school pupil in Essex. Really odd that the driver is detained on suspicion of murder and attempted murder ?not dangerous driving.Suggests it was deliberate.

Great post And I can't be bothered to dress it up.

They're inflicting disaster on the UK in return for a fleeting feeling of being special.

I'm fed up with all of them.

People dying in the streets, life expectancy falling, the Far Right in power & the UK destabilised.

No. I can't forgive them

I so agree with this. I spoke to a couple of friends yesterday who were more optimistic about the disaster fears. One is really politically knowledgable and whilst being worried about and disgusted with the ConservatERGs he thinks the predicted 6% ish Brexit economic impact won't be as bad for everyone as is feared. He also still thinks there could be a hung parliament.
My other friend has been out manically delivering thousands of vote non Tory leaflets, omitting her immediate neighbour's house as he is actually the local Tory candidate! You can't choose your neighbours!

Piggywaspushed · 03/12/2019 06:56

The Tory who was voted out by a Labour guy at the last politician is now standing in the next do consituency because the lovely Alistair Burt stood down.
Must be nice to have thrown away your (urban) set in one election and be handed over a safe rural seat in the next!

Piggywaspushed · 03/12/2019 06:56

That should say election , obviously...

TiddleTaddleTat · 03/12/2019 07:03

Lots of people on the thread have Tory MPs, I wish you luck.
Ours is a Lab/Lib marginal.
I wouldn't put too much store in the number of labour posters up. We all know the shy Tory effect. Posters and 'noise' created by those who were always going to vote Lab/Lib can distort the true picture. Numerous 'invisible' people who are not that interested in politics but feel safe to toe the line - and back the person that they think will win.

This Dutch cartoon in the Volkskrant newspaper depicts Brexit as a gang rape of Britain, led by Boris Johnson. Strong stuff in the 3rd best selling daily in the Netherlands.

That’s strong stuff, Red.

It’s interesting here because there was a grass roots petition to get our MP ousted because he’s a remainer. There was lots of talk about giving him a bloody nose by voting for the Brexit Party. Obviously they’re not standing here now so I reckon a lot of them will stay at home.

Hasenstein · 03/12/2019 07:37

Strong stuff, as you say, RTB

But it's good to note that the BBC's craven and complicit conduct is also obvious to observers outside the UK.

Since August we’ve had 21 items of paper from the Lib Dems at our home in the Battersea seat, though that includes 2 items promoting Nicola Horlick in Chelsea & Fulham! Has anyone had more items from any single party?

Yes Michael...

Now on 25.

BBC that allows Raab an uninterrupted “Yes but Corbyn ..” rant only this morning. Nick Robinson should be stood down until after the election.

No bxp standing here.
We have lab, con, green, ind and libertarian (!)
Afaics "libertarian" = racist xenophobic misogynist thundercunts..
The ind candidate stopped replying to my questions via e mail :)
I have it from a VERY reliable source that the reason bridgen canvassed alone and drove his own billboard around is that he is loathed by his own local party members/councillors.
There is, literally, no one that will canvass for him.
Plenty will still vote for him, sadly.
If bxp had stood, he'd have been in trouble.

Random18 · 03/12/2019 07:56

I've always thought of my MP as a moderate tory. Self serving and a crap MP but moderate.

His leaflet had a picture of a former UKIP MEP supporting him who called him a True Democrat. Grim.

Can I put him up for worst Tory.

He pretends to be One Nation and is far more devious and dangerous than your ERG types.

Random18 · 03/12/2019 08:02

We've had 2 I think from the Tories.

And nothing from anyone else.

1 was a 'newspaper's which printed lies and only had printed by conservative party in very small font at bottom. Unbelievable.

A Christmas ode to Toryism:

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the nation,
There was misery, poverty and great deprivation
Some stockings were empty, some fridges were bare,
The heating turned off, little money to spare.

Cognac and Port so he’s feeling no pain,

This Dutch cartoon in the Volkskrant newspaper depicts Brexit as a gang rape of Britain, led by Boris Johnson. Strong stuff in the 3rd best selling daily in the Netherlands.*

A Dutch business contact told me last night they can really notice a Brexit effect over there. As an example they mentioned knowing of 20 mid sized businesses moving from the UK to NL in the last week alone.
Brexit is plundering our country.

AuldAlliance · 03/12/2019 08:54

That Dutch image is really interesting, especially Grandma as the BBC.
How many UK cartoonists would have enough knowledge of Dutch cartoons to include one in their work? Or know what the Dutch national broadcaster is called?

Sth for Leavers who claim that UK identity needs to be "saved" from the EU to think about.

As a (disenfranchised) UK citizen living in the EU, I am watching the elections approach with unmitigated dread, to be honest. Hard to feel positive when the PM is such a shameless liar and so much of the electorate doesn't seem to think it makes him untrustworthy.

Got a conservative flyer delivered by the postman yesterday, along with my parcel. Went straight in the recycling. He is not voting conservative either.
