Tonight 10pm

YouGov MRP.

First big poll

Rumour is that it shows a big tory majority.

This would fit with two MRP polls that are already out if accurate.

Datapraxis is suggesting a Tory majority of 48.

Best for Britain (Pro remain) is suggesting a majority of 57.

What is MRP and can it predict the result of the UK general election?

It stands for multi-level regression and post-stratification. Its a polling method which uses demographic data to work out how people will vote. YouGov used it to accurately predict the 2017 result and the method was used to predict the 2016 US election.

But the parties seem easily played.

This is only true if you think that Labour should have expected the BBC to lie about Johnson's participation.

Do you think that Labour should have expected the BBC to lie?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:33

Johnson is a feckless liar and Labour should have factored that in .

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:35

@JoannaObrien which is why , at the risk of more shouting from regulars on here, I am currently planning to spoil my ballot.

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:35

@bellinisurge

I am not keen on Boris either but Corbyn is not fit for office and would wreck our country with spending billions we simply have not got.

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:37

@bellinisurge

How are you going to spoil it?

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 07:38

Johnson is a feckless liar and Labour should have factored that in .

Should they also have factored in that the BBC are liars?

Because that is what you are arguing.

fedup21 · 28/11/2019 07:38

Have any of you actually been in a Union I have it was a closed shop so I had no choice. We were forced to strike and I didn't get paid for months.

Which job were you doing and which union?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:39

I am currently planning to write NONE in big letters across the names. I don't care if no one reads it. If people cared what people like my thought they wouldn't be such fucking extremists.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 07:39

Joanna was doing this job, if it ever existed, about 30 year ago.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 07:40

Joannaobrien I assume you are happy with the billions already squandered on brexit. Y'know the money we haven't got?

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:40

@Mistigri , yep, they are shit too. But they aren't the reason Labour is nosediving.

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:40

@fedup21

I am not revealing that on an open forum but I have been a member of a Union I still have my card ...

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:42

@GhostofFrankGrimes

No I am not because I voted to stay in the EU but we have now got to leave because that is what our country voted for and I have accepted the will of the people.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:42

@JoannaObrien then you know there are no closed shops

Katharinblum · 28/11/2019 07:43

Re outsourcing cleaning to private companies in the nhs some trusts (mine included) have now gone back to using in-house cleaners because it provides a better quality of service

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 07:43

The media are a massive reason why Labour face an uphill struggle. Not just Corbyn but Milliband (remember the bacon sandwich), Kinnock (remember the lightbulb).

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:44

Blaming everyone but Corbyn is why Labour is failing everyone.

Violetparis · 28/11/2019 07:44

It's not just more votes for the Conservatives in some areas in the North/Midlands which is leading to a Tory majority, it's Labour Leavers voting for the Brexit Party which is allowing the Tories to break through. Farage standing down in Tory seats has certainly helped the Conservatives.

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:44

@bellinisurge

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_shop

GhostofFrankGrimes · 28/11/2019 07:44

Joanna tired slogans wont convince me either.

fedup21 · 28/11/2019 07:46

am not revealing that on an open forum but I have been a member of a Union I still have my card

Erm, right.

I don’t think you saying-‘factory worker/Amicus’ is going to identify you, is it!?

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 07:47

yep, they are shit too. But they aren't the reason Labour is nosediving.

Well, I mostly agree with that, but you seem remarkably chipper about the idea that a state funded broadcaster can breach fairness rules and lie to the main opposition party, and get away with it.

You seem almost gleeful about it, presumably because the main victim is Corbyn.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:47

I know what a closed shop is and we currently don't have them in the UK.
Corbyn as PM reinstating them would be dreadful. But him being shit at leadership generally would be more dreadful.

Mistigri · 28/11/2019 07:49

Closed shops were made illegal thirty years ago.

bellinisurge · 28/11/2019 07:49

Not chipper at all. But nice try.
I'm resigned to all this stupid fucking shit now. The country voted Brexit. Parliament triggered A50. I didn't want either but all I can do is wait it out.
