We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

No, because they have allowed a ‘specific’ culture of AS to flourish. Also, momentum keep giving marxism/hard socialism the hard sell. Marxism/hard socialism is ground zero for anti semitic tropes.

Also, ‘many’ extreme momentum foot soldiers are often full of conspiracy bullshit. They disseminate that around social media like rabbits on a promise. These conspiracies very often have a key ‘bogey man’, Jews. Apart from flat earth obvs, but the level of thinking from some of these nutters, it wouldn’t surprise me if they were on board with that too.

Conspiracy nuts also like to throw around the term ‘critical thinking’ when it comes to these conspiracies. There are more than a few nutbox conspiracy forums on the internet. Jews are almost universally blamed for every mad cap theory they come up with. It’s a form of extremism and very scary. It’s now leaking into mainstream views. Anyone who ‘truly’ applies any level of this oft touted ‘Critical Thinking’ at the door of those forums, will very quickly see how grim and crazy some of the discussions are (not to mention racist). But, there are a vast number of people on there, who believe and seek to legitimise those views more publically. They false flag willy wave all over the place. They even think that Sandy Hook was a false flag. It’s all ‘psy ops’, deep state, false flags, Soros, NWO etc... in that world. Grim.

There must be a more argumentative thread for that, surely.

I'm afraid I've come to the conclusion that there would be no point in anyone going to The Other Thread for that, Autumn. My experience of that earlier this week is that it's an echo chamber with some very nasty echoes in there.

Brexit has, I'm afraid, exposed some very ugly fault lines in our country. They're just not the ones that were drearily predicted.

And yes, Windrush was an appalling way to treat people who were invited into this country and came in good faith. I really really hope the Home Office has learned from that and does not repeat the same mistakes with EU citizens already settled here.

Antisemitism is a plague and it's spreading. It's spreading on the extreme left- but also on the right (just look at the US 'alt right', it's vile). Social media gives it an unfortunately convenient platform.
I'm also concerned about the mainstream trend to 'other' anyone different. Resurgence of AS is a worrying symptom of something much bigger I fear.

Far right, far left - who can distinguish between the two? Both based on hatred of others. Both based on controlling views and behaviour. Neither tolerating dissent. In my view, they are identical twins.

The US's problem is that government is noticeably more right wing than I would be comfortable with whereas here, Corbyn and McDonnell's vision of government is way, way more left wing than I could stomach. Boris is not my first choice but he is the only one who can keep Jezbollah out. After that, all bets are off.

I think Marr was a bit shit tbh

BJ steamrollered all over him & Marr got tetchy but couldn't control him

Marr asked questions but even when given the answer said 'you haven't answered' indicating he wasn't even listening to the answers being given

Marr muddied the waters unnecessarily over the sentencing thing & early release but wasn't interested in letting BJ clarify it at all

He let BJ waffle unnecessarily at points but then interrupted when he was actually giving a proper answer 🙄

The only interviewer at the moment who can effectively cut over the waffle & get an answer is Andrew Neill - he would have rinsed BJ today

Marr is ineffective & dull

I actually much, much prefer Sophy Ridge's style of interview
She allows them to develop their argument but skewers them & hangs them on their own words
