Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

Ok Arse, let’s have a truce, 🕊 I would prefer you didn’t call me or others here deluded though, no good conversation ever started that way. Smile

Yes, a regular on there posted a comment, that recommended a Goebbels approach to campaigning. And it was really offensive, especially in the current AS climate. I won’t go on about it too much more, as it was deleted and the threads have now moved on. But, they were very angry that we called them out on it.

Again, my conscience is clear. I stay here and rarely venture, but that was a step too far and extraordinarily distasteful , as is the conspiracy nonsense today.

Again, I apologise for inferring you were guilty by association because of my glib post. It was unfair of me. I assumed you would have seen the posts. Proves both our points about assumptions I guess? 😂

XingMing · 29/11/2019 18:56

Standing toast: A salute to all those who keep our families safe, on the streets, on land, at sea and in the air, and on the Internet, who root out the traffickers ne'er-do-wells and who may have to step in harm's way at a moment's notice. To you all.

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 19:01

[drink] To them all!

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 19:03

“[drink] To them all!”

Indeed! 🍷

Truce epic...as long as it lasts! Grin You know I'll never be able to stop arguing against Bozo or his rancid oven-ready Brexit!

“Truce epic...as long as it lasts! grin You know I'll never be able to stop arguing against Bozo or his rancid oven-ready Brexit!”

Ditto Corbyn and his lukewarm undercooked, Ecoli ridden, chicken ‘deal’ dinner.

😂😂😂

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 19:07

Sorry to lower the tone during the toast...i'll go and watch the debate Blush

bellinisurge · 29/11/2019 19:07

@ArseDarkly there was a tasteless reference to Goebbels late at night which got jumped on on the thread the following morning and reported by people on here and on Westminsterenders.
Given the propensity on both threads to assume that everyone has the same views and uses the same terms as everyone else on the thread they don't frequent, it's all getting a bit depressing. There are attempts to call that out by regulars on both threads but with patchy success.
I spent the day sewing, chilling and watching shite on telly because I'm getting weary of it.
I come here for the drinks and snacks and occasional banter.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 19:15

You are right Bellini.

Maybe I should hide the WM threads, so that I can’t see any of that crap anymore. They move fast though and new ones keep popping up. I do like to read them, as it’s usually a good thing to view all sides of an argument despite your own personal view. However I wonder if it’s just gone too far for that now.

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 19:21

Thought this was quite a good article
Chimes with much of my current thinking

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 19:21

The thing is, if I hide the threads, I just create my own echo chamber. Which saddens me, because whilst I don’t agree with all the viewpoints (despicable comments are a seperate matter) I do respect the right for others to have them (mostly), and also their right to be heard in this debate. It does affect us everyone of us after all.

Ugh. Tough one.

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 19:23

I'm glad we've sent the peace doves up btw

🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 29/11/2019 19:27

It’s important both sides mix and chat, otherwise things can get a bit boring ( in my opinion )
chatting about our differences in a civil manner is entirely possible as we do this with Bearbehind & Bellini everyday.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 19:30

That’s a great article Dusty, and a very balanced read. Nice to see something so pragmatic about the seismic political shifts we are undergoing.

Limer · 29/11/2019 19:31

Belatedly joining in the toast: Hear, hear and a resounding "Cheers" Wine

I've got the debate on but am not really watching. Too many parties, most of them saying the same thing!

Got friends coming round later for the weekend, think they're Remainers but I'll ask them outright later Grin

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 19:33

Absolutely Dirty

My best friend of forever is the polar opposite of me politically - personality wise we're carbon copies of each other, but we're opposite sides of left/right, Scottish independence & brexit

Neither of us are extreme though & are both very pragmatic people - we have some amazing political discussions!

It's never a healthy thing to be utterly surrounded by people who are 'just like me'

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 19:38

I feel a little deflated and sad with some of the behaviour after the last few days tbh. Maybe I just need to take a break from it all. 😔

At least the heroism shown by those amazing people today has somewhat restored my faith in humanity. So much so, that it has completely overshadowed the evil intent behind the attack and the focus on the attacker himself.

Be more London Bridge Hero.

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 19:42

Be more London Bridge Hero

Defo

Today has been a good (much needed) dose of perspective I think.

Life is too short for petty squabbling - we generally all want similar things but just believe the best way to get there is by a different path

🍷🍷🍷

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 29/11/2019 20:12

The Brexit party guy is doing really well on the BBC debate thingy.

MeganBacon · 29/11/2019 20:14

If you had been told that you hadn't got something you really wanted, a job say, you'd be momentarily sad but you'd get over it. But if someone told you, well you haven't got the job but if x, y or z happens you may still get it, you'd hang on and hope. You'd end up with nervous exhaustion, irritated, not able to plan your life and generally grumpy.
If you'd been told you've got the job but you can't start it for a couple of years and in the meantime other people may be trying to reverse our decision to give you the job and we may listen to them, you'd feel the same.
It's a nuts situation that we've all been living through, no bloody wonder tempers are frayed.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 20:15

You have a stronger constitution than me Dirty, I have hit peak campaign now, I cannot bear to absorb a second more of it all...! 😂

Comradesally · 29/11/2019 20:22

Well, bugger me.

Apparently when it's explained to people, that freedom of movement is reciprocal, they like it.

Hmm

Nicola sturgeon. Blush

XingMing · 29/11/2019 20:28

Really good link Dusty; it's about my stance too.
