Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

Don't blame you, Saucery. Night. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Don't confuse cynicism with dark humour. The poster you all slate here was being 'extremely cynical'; he didn't post for the lols.
Cynicism assumes people and organisations are motivated by pure self interest and not morals. It's closely related to pessimism as it's basically an expectation of the worst. It's anything but meant to be funny.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 17:14

Meh.

My conscience is clear.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 17:15

And please don’t tell me how to interpret posts like that. It’s extremely patronising.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 17:17

I know the difference and I don't care about the motivation. Another poster responded with the grin emoji so clearly thought it was a joking matter.

Real people in a real life horrifying incident.

Been there, done that.

It's offensive.

💐 Lily

The emergency services & see & are involved in horrific things

It's a job I could not do & I have huge respect for them all

XingMing · 29/11/2019 17:22

There is extreme cynicism, and there is crass. Which is an epithet most usually directed at Boris on the other threads.

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 17:24

The cynicism in this case involves tinfoil hat extremis of 'innocently wondering if it's a ploy to boost BJ's ratings'

Ffs

It's a fucking terror attack

Leave the conspiracy theories & 'cynicism' until after the dust has settled at the very least

Jesus wept.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 17:34

Thank you, Dusty. I've no doubt you've had some tough times too in connection with your former career, for which I have great respect.

If any other non-regulars are minded to pop in now and mansplain to me, could I ask you to not use polysyllabic big words? Don't forget I'm a thick, racist, xenophobic knuckle-dragging Leaver wot wipes my snotty nose on my sleeve. And my former colleagues put themselves on the line every single day and night so that you can continue to deploy your rapier sharp "cynicism".

Well said Dusty and Singing, and thank you both for your efforts and service to our country and our safety.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 17:46

Thank you again, Epic, much appreciated.

I think the most useful thing I can do is put a round of drinks on the bar and invite everyone to raise a glass to our emergency services and to send kind thoughts to those injured, those shaky and frightened, and to all their families at home worrying about their loved ones.

Here we are. If there aren't enough to go round, give me a shout.

I haven't Lily - I was very lucky.

All my deployments were to the Falklands and to non war zones (luck rather than judgement)

I volunteered for everything to no avail when I was young but when I had the boys I stopped volunteering and just waited my turn - luckily I never got pinged for the nasty stuff

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 17:51

Well said Dusty and Singing, and thank you both for your efforts and service to our country and our safety.

😳 my service involved hotels & fancy dress parties Epic...

Absolute hats off & respect to Lily though for sure

I absolutely could not be a police officer

I toyed with the idea once coz I'd seen the Bill & thought it looked cool but my mum reminded me of all the other harrowing stuff that goes with the job & there's no way I could do that.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 17:58

Luck of the draw, Dusty. You were on standby if needed.

Not the worst experience I've had but highly stressful in its own peculiar way was when I reached high rank and had to give the order to others to carry out highly risky physical intervention. I knew the risk I was committing them to and quite frankly, would rather have gone in myself. I'd grip some piece of equipment really hard as a coping strategy.

Probably cost the taxpayer a fortune in replacement equipment 😂

I think that's possibly the worst times Lily

It's ok throwing yourself in, but having the responsibility for others doing so is awful

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 18:08

I'm going to clock off for a little while now but will be back later. Smile

Honesty box in its usual place under the till. Bar snack bowls fully topped up.

Thanks Lily 💐🍷Cake

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 18:31

Maybe Arse would prefer to hang out with the Goebbels fans and conspiracy theorists instead. Seeing as we are so dreadful.*

Eh? Confused Just in from work and trying to digest the horrible news. what am I supposed to have done? and why the fuck do you have to mention Nazis, I really hate that the way that shit is chucked around Angry

howabout · 29/11/2019 18:35

raise a glass to our emergency services and to send kind thoughts to those injured, those shaky and frightened, and to all their families at home worrying about their loved ones. Wine

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 18:37

Oh. My. God. Really?

I can’t even believe this!!! I was referring to the post from yesterday (I think) about Goebbels by the WM lot! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Please Arse, read the whole threads, it would really help with context. And I mean no offence by that, just a genuine plea. I was referring to the fact that you go on about how nasty we are, yet hang out over there too, and seem to not notice their imperfections. We certainly bloody did, and they didn’t like it one bit. Quelle surprise.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 18:39

They invoked Goebbels. They bloody did. And it was awful. And we called them out.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 18:42

I shouldn’t have been glib, because to be fair, you didn’t post any of that. For which I apologise. I just feel frustrated by the constant attacks on us, as if we are awful people, whist some on there post dreadful stuff, that others on there don’t call out and worse still, try to defend.

Hollycatberry · 29/11/2019 18:42

fuck do you have to mention Nazis

Shame no one said that on the other thread where a reference to the head of nazi propaganda was made, in relation to employing those tactics to help Labour win Hmm

Also raising a glass to our brave emergency staff who kept many people safe today. So brave.

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 18:43

you mean westminsterenders - some on there was talking about nazis?? I can't read all of all these threads..why were they talking about that?

and c'mon epic, I know I like to come in and annoy you but when have I said you're 'nasty'? I don't think that - massively deluded, but not nasty Grin

howabout · 29/11/2019 18:45

Paraphrasing Austin Williams
You can't debate by replacing people with ice sculptures but then independent reporting was replaced by Snow some time ago.
