Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

We also have some rum if that doesn't appeal, and a bottle of (purely medicinal) cognac?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:23

I’ll take anything Xing! Thank you! 😉

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:26

Lapis? Where are you? Did you step outside?

yolofish · 28/11/2019 21:26

OH FFS! IT'S A BLOODY SCONE, AS IN WHAT CAKE GOES FASTEST? IT'S SCONE!

Sorry for shouting, I've given up on every single one of our supposedly elected politicians tonight, they are all a complete bunch of shitheads who couldn't run the proverbial piss up in a brewery.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:30

“Sorry for shouting, I've given up on every single one of our supposedly elected politicians tonight, they are all a complete bunch of shitheads who couldn't run the proverbial piss up in a brewery.”

On the polling card, it should say,

Of the following shitheads, which shithead would you ‘prefer’ to win the 2019 general election. Please mark your cross in the box as appropriate.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:32

Maybe the polling cards should read, of the following I think X will do the least harm.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:32

I choose Boris. As I believe him to be the least shitheaded out of all the shitheads. Others may feel differently.

What a time to be alive.

Another scotch ‘infusion’ if you wouldn’t mind Landlady.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:33

“Maybe the polling cards should read, of the following I think X will do the least harm.”

So much this! ^^

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:34

I may have convinced myself to vote for the Cornish nationalist party.

Bearbehind · 28/11/2019 21:34

This!

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:36

We have a sample, from over the river, of a Devon whisky if you're open to suggestions Epic? Haven't tried it myself.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:37

“I may have convinced myself to vote for the Cornish nationalist party.”

If they are giving away, mythical, sweet ,bread based delicacies as described earlier. I’m all in. I’m not Cornish though, would that count against me? 😬

AutumnRose1 · 28/11/2019 21:38

speaking of green and economics, I still haven't got round to reading "Prosperity without Growth" by Tim Jackson.

not sure if it will be very out of date now, or if I will be able to make sense of it! Has anyone read it?

LapisJewel · 28/11/2019 21:40

@xingMing, I stepped outside for a herbal cigarette with a Cornish Lad.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:40

Probably not. We have equal opportunity on sweet, yeasted confections. Cornish folk have been known to make great Eccles cakes as well as saffron buns.

yolofish · 28/11/2019 21:42

lapis spill the beans!!!!

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:42

Kier Starmer is often Lauded as a prospective leader to make the Labour party more sellable to the public.

If it wasn’t Boris running the show, I wonder who people would prefer. I’m not really sure, as I can’t help thinking people would still scream NASTY TORIES any thoughts?

Like fantasy football, who would be your dream team?

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:43

Happy to welcome you back in the warm Lapis. It's been stormy recently and people need to keep away safe from the biggest waves.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:44

“Probably not. We have equal opportunity on sweet, yeasted confections. Cornish folk have been known to make great Eccles cakes as well as saffron buns.”

Yaaaas! But can I get a sample pack of ALL before I commit? Need to be sure obvs.

scaryteacher · 28/11/2019 21:50

Xing Now I'm back in civilisation, I was most heartened to see Boris with the cream on top. My Mum (who lives over the water in Devon land) bought me a cross stitch kit saying jam first.

I want a Rodda's mug like Boris had, but Trewithen do a nice clotted cream as well. Am going back to the heart of the evil empire on Saturday for dh's last week there, and am staying with a friend who wants me to bring clotted cream and mince pies with me.

Epic I find Saffron buns a bit dry, but a slice of saffron loaf toasted and slathered with butter is good. You could also do thunder and lightening on the scones, which is treacle/syrup instead of cream.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:50

I was deeply disappointed that Alan Johnson didn't win the Labour leadership, not least because he writes so well. Fangirl wriggle. I could warm to Starmer.

And, on the blue side, I think there are able Tories who want the daft divisive argument settled before they stick their heads over the trench again. Tom Tugendhat comes to mind as one who's been doing the hard graft of looking after committee/constituency issues without making a lot of noise.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:55

I suspect the mug was a one-off having just looked at the website for a homecoming gift Scary.

TheABC · 28/11/2019 21:56

Look, if we are now electing parties on the basis of baked foodstuff, can chocolate brownies get a mention?

I rather like the idea of the Cornish party. After all, there's one for Yorkshire...

Comradesally · 28/11/2019 21:56

I couldn't warm starmer. At all. No.

I can't warm to anyone who wants to over turn the ref.
I'd like to see new blood, and I don't think Boris is that bad for now.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:59

Sorry Epic, nothing by mail.
