Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

I'm not too fussy on jam or cream first. However putting a thick rich cream on first makes sense to me because the jam is loose and runny?

I'd rather talk about the quality of jam and cream.

Epic. Nothing. Nothing but nothing could ever compare to the marrow jam.

Having previously utterly loathed marrows I must admit, having marrow men adorning the arms in tight tarzan style budgie smugglers, bearing their marrows.... Did turn me onto marrow jam.

HateIsNotGood · 28/11/2019 19:03

I put a reply on JC's Tweet "Tonight we debate the greatest issue facing our planet."

twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1200121485375033345

"Yes indeed - some off us can't decide if it's cream or jam first and a few insist that butter is also included. Never mind the differences between milk first or last in our tea. What do you think Jeremy - thought I'd ask you as you seem so decisive about things."

Hahaha! Nice work Hate! 😂

Saucery · 28/11/2019 19:25

The jam should not be loose and runny. The very idea! Shock

HateIsNotGood · 28/11/2019 19:40

Well, I'd better turn in for today. My own descriptions of us people in the UK to other Europeans is that we are currently in a 'collective madness' and hopefully normal service will resume shortly.

My current clients/bosses are Romanian and Greek and they understand this, no problem.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 19:43

Well said Saucery. The jam is homemade strawberry (fiendishly awkward to keep any strawberry bits intact) or raspberry (much easier so recommended for novice jam-makers) but it must be well-set. And scone rhymes with 'gone', unless you're Hyacinth Bucket.

My dear mama used to make a rather good marrow and ginger jam, with the proviso that it didn't keep well even in the fridge. And one marrow makes quite a few jars. The stem ginger makes it palatable so what starts out sounding like a thrifty use of glut produce ends up wildly extravagant.

Has Comrade Corbyn responded yet?

Comradesally · 28/11/2019 19:52

😂😂😂 To be honest it's quite clear that this sort of discussion is Jezzbollahs level and the only things in future, when he is in spectacular nuclear fashion, flung from volcanic eruptions up into the stratosphere...

He should be allowed near, when he comes back to earth is jam and marrow competitions....

HateIsNotGood · 28/11/2019 19:59

Nope - nada, zero - but then one must allow time for brains to function outside of their programming and that can take some time.

I leave you with Skoon, as in Scone Palace, Sckohtland. I'm sure it's in the SNP Manifesto somewhere, that forever more Scones are now pronounced Skoons. I may have made that up too, hard to tell nowadays. Night All.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 20:09

That’s ok Hate, he is riding his climate change Unicorn currently. Normal service shall resume shortly.

AutumnRose1 · 28/11/2019 20:29

why would jam be runny?!

marrow jam sounds like it's from the lady in Vicar of Dibley who made...I don't know, turnip cake and stuff.

DustyDiamond · 28/11/2019 20:33

Complaint has gone in to Electoral Commission about C4 blocking Gove from being the Tory Party rep in the 'climate debate'

I think they've made a fair point tbh - it's not a presidential or mayoral election

Comradesally · 28/11/2019 20:33

Jam, loose and sloppy?

Thick cream... Stable. The jam runs down the the cream, the look of the jam adorning the cream is also more pleasing to the eye.

Suffocating the jam under thick cream seems miserly.

DustyDiamond · 28/11/2019 20:35

Sorry - complaint to ofcom

howabout · 28/11/2019 20:39

Nope always scone as in gone in SNP Land, but weirdly is Scone as in Skoon in Scone Palace (I blame Shakespeare). But then Scots can disagree about how to spell and pronounce Gaelic till the coos/ cae come home.

www.unilad.co.uk/featured/the-correct-way-to-pronounce-scone-is-scone/

In related news did anyone see that UniLad is taking over from MN in interviewing candidates on important issues such as their biscuit preferences?

AutumnRose1 · 28/11/2019 20:41

I think someone's going to have to produce a jam chart like that cup of tea chart or banana chart.

I really want a scone etc now Has the poshing of this place got that on the menu? Grin

LapisJewel · 28/11/2019 20:47

Time for a nice stiff drink of climate rescue.

We need an infusion of the Green industrial revolution.

It will stimulate the economy, and help ensure we leave our kids with a habitable planet.

Please dont vote Tory. How will we look our grandkids in the eyes?

XingMing · 28/11/2019 20:57

Lapis, there might be an economy left for them in the UK if we vote Tory, from which standpoint we can ask China/India/Indonesia and every other nation with a population over 100m to consider their national impacts collectively upon the planet and its climate. The UK's contribution to global warming is a) between 1-2% of the global total; 2) already a subject of active live concern to almost everyone with children and grandchildren and 3) plans to mitigate our impact are being escalated very quickly.

I grant you that there is a lot more to do, but the UK is leading the debate not following it.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 20:59

Confused alphabet and numbers there Lapis but today started at 3.00 am so please, cut me a little slack.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:02

And even some Tories have been environmentally aware and recycling since their teens, which in my case, was in the 1970s, when I first read E F Schumacher's A Small Planet and Rachel Carson. Being Green does not automatically also mean economically illiterate.

HateIsNotGood · 28/11/2019 21:05

I didn't go to bed - silly me. Is there a survey about biscuit preferences?
Unsurprisingly I prefer ginger nuts.

Yes agree Lapis a good dose of climate rescue will do us all a world of good. Unfortunately first we must get a few other legislative details, such as Brexit, dealt with first.

Then it's full steam ahead - or rather wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and occasional solar power ahead. Looking forward to it.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:12

I am not asking the developing world to put their dreams of a better life on hold. I would hope that their development curve races ahead to embrace the sustainable green energy sources (solar, wind and tide) and skips over the dirty carbon phase. That we didn't develop the science and technology to do so in a better order is regrettable but seems to have been the logical path dictated by increasing understanding of physics, chemistry and biology. Now the dangers of deforestation and land contamination are established, it's not unreasonable to hope the worst pitfalls can be sidestepped.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 28/11/2019 21:20

“We need an infusion of the Green industrial revolution. “

I need an infusion of hard liquor tbh.

XingMing · 28/11/2019 21:21

Large Scotch do you Epic? I think I remember my way around the optics.
