And replacing it with applause.

How is this not censorship?!

Google BBC remove laughter for links but this has both clips

I did wonder why nobody was laughing at this point. Johnson is going to win this election, screw the country and it will be the fault of the BBC. And especially, but not exclusively, Fiona Bruce.

BambooBoobam · 23/11/2019 20:29

Wtf??

fedup21 · 23/11/2019 20:41

I think this is appalling.

OP posts:
GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/11/2019 20:53

Its frightening.

OddBoots · 23/11/2019 20:54

It is absolutely shocking, what has happened to the BBC and most of the media in general?

EvaHarknessRose · 23/11/2019 21:00

Times also reporting whistleblower reports that BBC suppressed politicians links to Russia

Meh, I've heard again & again that the audience laughed heartily. It was headline commentary on the political summaries. If BBC want to reduce the clip length after a few days to shorter time by not including the laughter , it doesn't bother me.

BJ has been called a toerag, harangued for not being in Brussels sorting out a deal, it's not like it's hard to find unflattering coverage of him if you want.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 23/11/2019 21:31

They pretty much had to.

They had an unrepresentative audience (ought to have been over 40%Tory voters, but clearly wasn't) but couldn't give it carte blanche

Limitedsimba123 · 23/11/2019 21:35

They didn’t just edit the laughter though to shorten the clip, if you watch both side by side it’s clear it’s a different clip altogether.

jasjas1973 · 23/11/2019 21:46

BBC also altered the remembrance day johnson wreath laying ceremony to put him in a better light.
Todays BBC news items all led with Corbyn facing the audience laughter.

Russian influence seems to have extended way beyond Brexit and the tories.

FOJeremy · 23/11/2019 21:50

Are you serious? The BBC were so biased against Boris. Fiona interrupted him constantly and the audience were all lefty activists. They were disgraceful

fedup21 · 24/11/2019 00:05

The BBC were so biased against Boris.

Well, clearly not here!

Damn, Labour’s getting desperate! Grin

Walkingdeadfangirl · 24/11/2019 00:36

Corbyns momentum are so extreme far left that they are now labelling left wing organisations as right wing. What a farce.

I suppose they are getting their excuses in early to explain why so few people are wanting to vote for Corbyn.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 24/11/2019 00:49

QT is normally very pro Tory (the producer is publicly very right wing) so I understand it's a shock for some on the hard right to see a properly representative audience. Everybody got a hard time but the fact is, not only did Johnson finally get called out on his lies and the party's terrible record, he was useless at defending it. Although he wasn't pushed enough on the Russia report.

CendrillonSings · 24/11/2019 01:00

QT is normally very pro Tory

What a joke - it’s normally full of left-wing plants, and this one was no exception! Grin

lonelyplanetmum · 24/11/2019 06:21

Unnoticed by some voters, the Conservative party has changed. The current ERG mob are unrecognisable from the Ken Clarke's and John Majors of the past.

It seems the voters most have changed too. The one nation blue rosette wearers of the past would have been disgusted at the BBC editing clips to make Johnson look more favourable.

The would also have been ashamed of shabby behaviour electioneering including:

•Setting up a website with a fake Labour manifesto.

•Setting up a fake fact checking website.

•Paying Google for the fake Labour website to be at the top of searches.

•Using tax payers' ( not Tory party) money on targeted Facebook ads directed at key marginal seats including Wakefield, Bolton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Mansfield, Lincoln, and Newcastle-under-Lyme, Lowestoft etc.

Has Cummings really stepped back leaving all this to that young Australian political strategist Isaac something?. We've not heard much about him but he was chosen to run it all wasn't he?

This!

twofingerstoEverything · 24/11/2019 09:10

and the audience were all lefty activists.

Course they were Hmm

Lefty activist waspi women, lefty activists moaning about Jeremy's broadband proposal, angry lefty activists laying into him about anti semitism and sexism in the party...
Have you tried taking off those right wing blinkers at all and watching more critically?

Yaralie · 24/11/2019 09:31

The shocking fact has emerged that the BBC selected the audience for the leader's debate to ensure that most were, from the outset, hostile towards Jo Swinson.

The limited support is likely to have come down to the fact the room were "balanced" based on the number of MPs each party has in the House of Commons, meaning even the SNP had more support in the room than the Lib Dems.

MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton tweeted: "BBC confirm that the Question Time audience was stacked based on current party representation in the Commons, ie numbers of MPs. So there were effectively 2 Lib Dems in that room. Jo Swinson handled it with graceand passion. Sustained pressure but she didn't buckle once."

In a democracy the representation of both speakers and audience members would be in in proportion to the number of seats being contested in the the election in all broadcast debates and discussions.

fedup21 · 24/11/2019 09:41

Yes, I completely agree.

The one nation Tories should follow the advice of people like Matthew Parris and vote LibDem

Yaralie · 24/11/2019 10:23

The social democrats who have previously voted Labour should follow the lead of people like Chukka Umunna and Luciana Berger should also vote Libdem

StarbucksSmarterSister · 24/11/2019 11:19

I can't imagine how right wing people must be to think QT is normally packed with Lefties.

The ERG led Tories are an utter disgrace. They're further right than Margaret Thatcher and MacMillan must be spinning like a top in his grave.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 24/11/2019 11:31

Well this guy clearly wasn't a leftie. He is a Conservative activist who seemingly moves around the country to get himself on QT as often as possible.

I'm intrigued as to what left wing organisations have been branded right wing? Do tell @Walkingdeadfangirl
