Apparently the usual landlady over ordered on Bar nuts on the last thread. Just step over them if you find them here, as we haven’t had a chance to clear them up yet.

DustyDiamond you are entitled to your view, of course. I wouldn't be capable of sending a death threat, however. It just would not happen.

GoodJobSteve · 01/11/2019 11:26

*Actually struggling to find where any poster has said precisely this tbh

Perhaps a re-read of PP would help you?*

Ah! You don't know what a 'scale' is. I understand now...ok. Carry on.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 11:27

I'm not in any way suggesting otherwise Steve.

But some people are, and some people go on to take the next step too.

Just because you would not do so does not make the conversation invalid.

There are many, many more people on this earth than just you Steve....!

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 11:28

Ah! You don't know what a 'scale' is. I understand now...ok. Carry on.

😂😂

You're hilaire!

Bet people literally rolling on the floor laughing is a constant sight for you!!

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 01/11/2019 11:29

Burglary & murder are on a different scale. - but it’s all criminal behaviour.

HTH

bellinisurge · 01/11/2019 11:36

Kinda funny. If someone you don't agree with says something you don't agree with that's inciting or creating an atmosphere that makes a person commit an act of violence.
But if you do agree with something a person says, that's not the same because reasons.🤷‍♀️

Not at all!!!

Saying things people disagree with is fine!
Piss taking & teasing is fine.

It's the intent that makes a difference.

Threats to MPs or others I don't know are something I'd never do - but there are tonnes of folk out there who do do that.

On MN there are never any threats of violence against other posters - plenty of posts expressing a desire for bad things to happen to specific groups though 🤷🏻‍♀️

LOTS of personal attacks re motivation, character, personality & emotional or intellectual intelligence on MN though. Loads of ascribing of bigotry etc

Posters on the other thread have chatted shit about us generally, named specific posters & then come straight over here to goad & then crowed about it back on the other thread. One even reported our entire thread because she didn't like it!!

That's what the difference is between mere differences of opinion & targeted trolling.

The violence thing is what can ultimately stem from the 1st step of othering & trolling.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 11:54

"Drop the deal because it's not Brexit"

(Nigel Farage targeting all seats - going up against Tories)

General view is that this is terrible as it'll split the leave vote.

I agree.

But.....!
If BJ is campaigning on his deal rather than no-deal & there's a real threat that BXP will split leave vote & therefore let Corbz in by accident, will this encourage moderate remainer Tories to back them against Remainer parties?

(ie - those who would typically vote Tory but may have lent their vote to Lib Dem or Labour as a remain protest)

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 11:56

Last post was musing based on the premise that many, many people are more afraid of Corbz in no. 10 than they are of a BJ deal Brexit.

HateIsNotGood · 01/11/2019 11:57

Now I've adjusted my timeclock - I was in very early this morning as I haven't changed my clocks yet and thought it was later than it was.

Anyway, I'm pretty certain that all here are disgusted by the death and other threats that have been sent to MPs. I also don't think that anyone here is even vaguely comparing the GFery here to the threats to MPs at all.

As for any apparent GF here I couldn't give a toss although Mist's posting style is irritating I see it as little more than infantile really.

Thanks for the coffee LL, I see that I didn't even ask for it as you just put my double machiato on the bar anyway.

Gotta go, maybe back later.

mummmy2017 · 01/11/2019 12:41

Corbyn seems to be making promises again.
Pensions promise. Wonder if will be another I Didn't say that, situation.

MeganBacon · 01/11/2019 12:44

This must be a result of his chat with the Donald last night. Cummings will be plugging the ‘vote Farage, get corbyn’ message. I can’t believe they are stupid enough to lose leave by splitting the vote although Farage did say he would rather remain than accept boris’s deal. But when push comes to shove I can’t believe it. I think it’s all just positioning but who knows? You really do have to reserve 25% of your brain just to enjoy the show at times like this.

Mistigri · 01/11/2019 12:47

Threats of violence & ultimately acts of violence do not spring from a vacuum - there is background & context to all.

This sounds perilously close to "she asked for it". Can you expand?

Mistigri · 01/11/2019 12:52

They post goady posts on here purely to wind people up.
But they think that’s ok.

If is within both the law and the rules of the site then you will need to have a better argument for it "not being OK" than that it upset your feelings.

Plus the goady posts everyone is moaning about were verbatim quotes from the prime minister Grin

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 12:53

I am unsure of the thought process which caused you to leap to this conclusion.

I'd ask you 'to expand' in normal circumstances, but the truth is that I have no desire to engage with you at all as I have observed your patterns of behaviour on these threads to be deliberately disingenuous & provocative.

🤷🏻‍♀️

Bearbehind · 01/11/2019 12:56

Which were posted purely to wind people up, ‘serve them humble pie’ and make you look big and clever in front of your WM mates

You clearly don’t see a problem with that - many of us do

GoodJobSteve · 01/11/2019 12:57

Farage did say he would rather remain than accept boris’s deal.

Of course he would - a life on the EU payroll being able to shout 'betrayal' until retirement? Great result. Alternatively: winning a seat in Westminster...he has to work for his money, so it's not quite as cushty as Brussels, but it'll do.

His absolute worst outcome is a Brexit deal being done and the country moving on without him.

SingingLily · 01/11/2019 12:57

Once boundaries are pushed, and are seen to be pushed - especially by influential public figures - it gives others the licence they were seeking to excuse their behaviour and to escalate. Hateful words seed the ground for hateful actions.

It's the same principle that underpins the broken window theory in criminology and that's why I agree with DustyDiamond's earlier posts.

On a much much brighter note, Bercow has gone! He's really gone! I'm also hoping that Lindsey Hoyle becomes the new Speaker. He's always come across as fair, impartial and authoritative in a good humoured way. He'll set the tone - just as Bercow did - and it will lift the standard of behaviour back to acceptable levels.

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 12:58

Can't disagree with any of that Steve!

DustyDiamond · 01/11/2019 12:59

Also a fan of Lindsey Hoyle Singing!

And also over the moon that Bercow has fucked off at last 😅🙌

Mistigri · 01/11/2019 13:01

Which were posted purely to wind people up

Yes, though I didn't expect it be to quite so successful Grin

What is it about Johnson's own words that you find so horribly goady?

SingingLily · 01/11/2019 13:01

Just hope he didn't catch his head on the door frame on the way out. Metaphorically, of course! Smile

Mistigri · 01/11/2019 13:05

If someone you don't agree with says something you don't agree with that's inciting or creating an atmosphere that makes a person commit an act of violence.

Which is victim blaming.

Curious to observe that my mild wind-ups (and they really were mild, consisting mostly of verbatim quotes of Johnson's own words, and a date) are perceived as being somehow equivalent to death threats.

SunnyupLands · 01/11/2019 13:06

.... I'm unsure of type though process that led too....

It's the same thought process that desperately tries to portray all leave voters as thick, gammon, knuckle daggers who, should be denied a vote.

It's the same way thought process that works very hard to make something out of nothing and tries every which way it can to finding the smallest chink in what one says to cheer... I told you so!! I was right.

SunnyupLands · 01/11/2019 13:07

Arghhhhhhh what is the the point of spell check!!

'I'm unsure of the type of thought process' Grin
