It looks like a December General Election is on.

The EU have officially extended A50 until 31st January. We have to name an EU Commissioner though.

All that seems left to do is decide between the 9th and 12th December.

The difference between the two is about whether there is any possibility that the WAB can be passed before Parliament dissolves.

A pre-brexit GE is thought to favour the LDs at the expense of Labour and the Conservatives. What the Brexit Party decide to do and where they decide to stand will also be crucial.

What gives you the right to think these are my personal circumstances?

The fact that you accused me of having no personal experience of such circumstances logically implies that you do have such experience, doesn't it? Otherwise your criticism of me would be hypocritical and make no sense.

Take a reality check and whilst you're at it think before you post.

I'd strongly suggest the same to you as well.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 17:28

Take a reality check and whilst you're at it think before you post.

That was a massive over reaction to cendrillions post

He / she was only pointing out the ridiculous paranoia about the list of additional things that Labour would be fighting.

These threads are becoming very uncomfortable for those of us who aren’t in your clique

You simply try to herd us out, even if we’re only saying what many of you have said before

placemats · 30/10/2019 17:28

Can anything pierce the illusion for those who love Boris?

He won't deliver a no deal Brexit, because he is a Remainer at heart. JRM doesn't like him.

Violetparis · 30/10/2019 17:29

Some voters will like Boris no matter what, but if there's a drip feed of negative stories his campaign could go the way of Theresa May's. Maybe I am just clinging on to hope !

BestIsWest · 30/10/2019 17:31

I don’t know, derxa he might just find an MP with Scottish connections. We had Cheryl Gillan as SoS for Wales despite her constituentcy being Chesham and Amersham - she was born in Wales tho.

placemats · 30/10/2019 17:31

Massive overreaction? Report me then.

Bear

Can't Cendrillon stand up for themselves or do they need Bear to sort it out?

I stand by what I said.

DadDadDad · 30/10/2019 17:33

Well, of course - most of those who support Boris do so because they see him as the man who will deliver Brexit. If he fails in that then yes, that would shatter some illusions.

You're still not convincing me that cries of coward would actually have any lasting effect. He's regularly referred to as a liar and self-serving (with some justification) and that doesn't seem to have deterred those who would vote for him.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 17:35

cendrillon clearly doesn’t need me to stand up for them but you and others have done similar to me

Reporting posts isn’t really my style, I think it’s better to let them stand

Anyone who isn’t in the ‘clique’ on here gets ravaged for being uncaring etc, even if they have said absolutely nothing of the sort

placemats · 30/10/2019 17:36

He's constantly referred to as untrustworthy and with justification.

One can only think that those who voted Brexit have buyer's remorse. It makes sense when it boils down to Johnson as PM.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 30/10/2019 17:36

Me as part of the clique lmao

Basilpots · 30/10/2019 17:37

Oddly a mutual dislike of Johnson is one of the few things DF agree on politically. He certainly is a marmite character.

Life long Tory voter never missed an election says he will be staying in and keeping warm that day.

Alsohuman · 30/10/2019 17:37

Think how vulnerable to gaffes Johnson is, to the point that his people kept him under wraps for much of the leadership contest. Imagine how many lies he can be found out on in six weeks. How many letterbox and piccaninny comments he can make.

placemats · 30/10/2019 17:38

I'm not in the 'clique' Bear I don't see this on these threads. Perhaps you are confusing this thread with another one.

DGRossetti · 30/10/2019 17:38

Some voters will like Boris no matter what, but if there's a drip feed of negative stories his campaign could go the way of Theresa May's.

Hmm

There's something insidious about Tory misogyny ... it was pointed out a few times that Boris "deal" was much worse than Theresa Mays, but no one really cared because Boris is a he.

I'm not saying any other parties are any better - the sexism of the working mans club (Wheeltappers and shunters ...) of Labour springs to mind.

But it seems peculiarly Tory for women to shit on women. Mrs. T probably being the poster girl.

At a vague guess it's to do with the view (or aspiration) that a Tory home has the little woman at home, baking and overseeing the nanny, whilst Daddy Tory watches the investments roll in.

ArseDarkly · 30/10/2019 17:39

Please don't feed 'em placemats - we don't want another stalking nightmare Sad

CendrillonSings · 30/10/2019 17:40

I stand by what I said.

So do I. I'm afraid tantrums don't work on me.

I don't particularly mind any jibes coming my way - I am an out and proud Tory, after all (like millions of other voters) - but I do object to people inventing things that I haven't said or even implied.

DGRossetti · 30/10/2019 17:41

How many letterbox and piccaninny comments he can make.

As far as Tory HQ are concerned the More the Merrier. They wouldn't deter the sort of people Tory HQ want/need to vote for Boris.

Basilpots · 30/10/2019 17:41

Oak explained her reasons for voting Conservative on Sunday don’t remember her getting a hard time.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 17:42

I’m not confusing it with another thread.

Clique, royalty, regular posters, call it what you like

People in the above category are treated very differently to others

That rant to cendrillon was completely uncalled for and unprovoked

Labour and Corbyn do have to face reality.

They are so unpopular even some of their own back benchers think they’re screwed

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 17:43

Please don't feed 'em placemats - we don't want another stalking nightmare

Perfectly proving my point

prettybird · 30/10/2019 17:43

That's what Labour had to do for the Shadow Scottish Secretary in the 2015 Parliament after Ian Murray (the sole Scottish Labour MP) resigned (immediately after the EU Referendum, because he had no confidence in Corbyn's leadership ability). His successor's sole Scottish connection seemed to be that his constituency was close(ish) Hmm to Scotland and that he was born in Sunderland Confused

placemats · 30/10/2019 17:43

You are of course right ArseDarkly

I will desist.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 17:45

Oak explained her reasons for voting Conservative on Sunday don’t remember her getting a hard time.

No, but I’ve been subject to a constant barrage of insults for being a Tory voter in the past

Like I say - it’s inconsistent, depending on whether your face fits or not

ArseDarkly · 30/10/2019 17:49

placemats Brew

Scottish Tories are going to be toast without Ruth Davidson

Basilpots · 30/10/2019 17:50

How explained the whole Scottish Labour thing to me a while ago.

Do you think that will be it for Scottish Labour then ? Would they be better of doing their own thing ?

Trying to factor in Leave/remain/left/right yes/no into my voting would make my head spin Grin
