Welcome by the way cranky Smile 🍻

crankyassnoperope · 28/10/2019 16:43

Hello! Sorry, I just strode right in here with a ton of questions and stuff didn't I, sorry!

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 16:49

You are more than welcome! We embrace all nice and genuine folk here in the arms, whatever the side! Smile Wine theres only A few shouty types that end up on the naughty bar stool Wink.

howabout · 28/10/2019 16:50

Nope Cranky Labour should have played your strategy but the minute they pivoted to Remain they got left with blame for delivering and not delivering Brexit. Seep to LibDems is always bigger threat to them and actually delivering Brexit in face of LibDems and SNP calling for Revoke cements their losses.

Boris left with no option but to pull WAB once it became clear that more than half Labour rebels and ex-Tories were intent on wrecking amendments.

Best chance to actually pass WAB is after a GE with a thumping Tory majority. I agree with Dusty that Boris always wanted a Deal as it is the only way to reunite the Tory vote.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 16:52

I’m just sorry that my brain has turned to mush today and I have nothing valuable to offer you by means of a response to your well thought out questions right now! Lol. But I promise to stand by with witty bar quips instead. 🍻 Grin

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 16:57

I just can't see why he'd have "paused" his WAB's progress so completely if he were at all into it.

Honestly? No clue.

I think it's because Labour & others were just going to bombard it with wrecking amendments anyway, & he was holding out on the off chance that Macron would block 3 month ext & only go for short extension

If that had happened, with minds focused more opposition MPs would have voted with govt - so better for BJ to wait til EU decision on extension

Hello! Sorry, I just strode right in here with a ton of questions and stuff didn't I, sorry!

😂😂

Not a problem!!

crankyassnoperope · 28/10/2019 16:58

...they got left with blame for delivering and not delivering Brexit.

This is indeed true.

Honestly all I care about at this point is where the booze is coming from!!

crankyassnoperope · 28/10/2019 17:00

Honestly? No clue.

I don't really know what a "wrecking amendment" would be except an amendment that made his deal not Brexity enough? That's what I don't understand I suppose, why an amended deal couldn't be Brexity enough, what it would need to be to be Brexity enough? No Customs union??

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 17:04

Continued membership of CU or a 2nd ref were the main two

The workers rights & environmental protections were another imo as there is no need for that to be in an international treaty
(and I think they also latched onto that as a cause because it was a convenient delaying tactic as WA would have to be reopened by EU)

RhinoskinhaveI · 28/10/2019 17:08

more time to put spokes in the wheels of the other side's bicycles

MeganBacon · 28/10/2019 17:38

I think if I were advising Jc at the moment i would say work to improve bj’s deal with sensible amendments so you can at least claim to the electorate that you helped deliver a better brexit. That at the moment is one of the few courses of action that could win Jc some sympathy. So maybe bj withdrew it so that couldn’t happen.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 17:39

Ok, don’t want to put in a thread derailment, but remember back in the day (it seems ages on these threads) when I was relieved that my Ds’ Grammar school seemed to be a bastion of critical thought and reasoning around sensible impartial political discourse after his experiences at primary?

Wrong. DS has just informed me (as we watch and discuss HOC events together) that the apparently very remainy HT, has been giving them long winded, mostly one sided diatribes about all of the downsides of brexit. Including such gems as, there will be countless job losses, they will never be able to live or work in EU countries again and that he voted for remain to protect the childrens futures. Hmm

Now. He is fully entitled to those views of course, but to put those so vociferously and unilaterally onto impressionable kids? Hmm, not so happy about that!

Miljah · 28/10/2019 17:44

Jezza's being quite convincing, actually!

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 17:44

😮 I'm shocked but also not shocked Epic
Teachers should keep their personal politics out of school

I don't know Megan tbh - it would play well with Labour leavers but not Labour remainers (and I think their members are remain heavy)

Corbyn's having a terrible time right now 😂😂😂
Wittering on about how terrible BJ is yet wanting to keep him in power Confused
Even SNP are goading him about propping up BJ 😂😂

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 17:51

Jezza.

Basically used the same argument type as the boris bus, whilst yammering about nurses, with not the merest hint of irony.

Also. Whats this ‘important point’ about auditing government expenditure on the ‘get ready for brexit’ campaign not resonating, all about? Show me the figures (not from Diane abbot please) for that nonsense! How do you measure ‘resonance’ in that context? And why does it matter? Ridiculous.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 17:56

This should be placed on the doors of parliament. So over the whole sorry lot of them, what a joke.

Brexits Arms - To GE or Not to GE that is the question?
DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 17:57

He's a tit

Puffed up Blackford is making the case for why SNP & Lib Dems have tabled their own bill rather than supporting this one

It's basically what we were talking about before - it means a GE whilst we're still in the EU (ie deal put on ice)

He's ripping into Jezza's crowd - totes hilaire 😂

"Tory handmaids looking for a spine"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 17:58

SNP aren't scared of electorate so they don't give a fuck

Walkingdeadfangirl · 28/10/2019 17:59

Just watching the debate and Corbyn is really is coming across a weak timid coward. His excuse for not backing the election this time is that he doesn't trust Boris to accept the extension. He didn't know that the extension has already been accepted.

Everyone but Corbyn wants an election in December, Labour is going to be decimated.

Would also love to know if Vaz will be allowed to stand in the next GE

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 18:00

“Puffed up Blackford is making the case for why SNP & Lib Dems have tabled their own bill rather than supporting this one”

Oh no, I have that to look forward to then! I’m on live pause by 14 minutes.

Still on the bullshit student argument. My student daughter knows, that she can register in both places to prevent her being disenfranchised . Ffs.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 28/10/2019 18:00

DustyDiamond
Actually I think the SNP are desperate for an election before the trial of Salmond early next year. That will probably hit them badly.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 18:01

On another note, has anyone provided corbyn with a spittle bucket? 🤢

Walkingdeadfangirl · 28/10/2019 18:02

Oh no, I have that to look forward to then! I’m on live pause by 14 minutes
LOL I am on live pause by 15 mins 🤗🤗🤗

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 18:03

Ooh - that too Walking!

(Salmond is a right greasy creep 🤮)

MeganBacon · 28/10/2019 18:03

Soft brexiteer is the only vacant role for him to fill in the next election thanks to his dithering and the only one that would damage bj. Jezza needs to make Boris look more like the hard brexiteer to gain any traction. Cummings doesn’t care if labour and libdems fight over the remain vote, he only cares that jezza doesn’t appeal to the soft Brexiteers, so pulling the bill closes off that option. Jezza must be feeling massively outplayed.
