I really don’t know dusty Confused, it sounded like that was the response from Labour as given by valerie vaz. I can’t honestly make head nor tail of any of it now. I feel like I am living in an alternative universe.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 18:20

😂😂

So the ball is firmly in Jezza's court now

He must be squirming inside - he desperately wants an election but his handlers are keeping him leashed

For all that I hate the man he's actually got the right idea & is being badly advised by Starmer etc

Any more delay & the optics of playing politics & game-playing to 'humiliate BJ' are actually more damaging to Labour than BJ

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 18:22

I think she said, no election unless you take no deal off the table?

(There is a deal 🤷🏻‍♀️ )

That there will be no agreement to the deal unless there is another referendum.

(Not gonna happen)

So, I think, that means that they basically said, no to all of it?

FFS. Confused

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 18:24

Can the whole nation not just write to the queen? Ask her dissolve the whole sorry shit house that is parliament and start again? Sad

There has to be a way out of this recurring nightmare!

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 18:34

His letter is very much geared towards being used as an election weapon in itself

Squarely lays all blame at the feet of Parliament & especially Jezza's lot

'Parliament vs the people' indeed

Cummings is very, very good at the soundbite slogans & also at the psychological warfare...

#ClassicDom 😂

Parker231 · 24/10/2019 18:35

Starmer is good, experienced and with loads of common sense, but Labour won’t agree to an election whilst there is still a risk of a no deal. The right approach whilst Boris is still trying underhand tricks.

Sunnyuplands · 24/10/2019 18:40

Parker how can you say starmer is good when we have seen endless earnest clips of him saying how he will honour the ref result?

But Boris, the one who is trying to honour the vote of 17+ million, agaisnt a shifty subversive parliament... Is playing tricks?

Sunnyuplands · 24/10/2019 18:42

It is a very good letter.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 18:47

Starmer is clearly a very clever & accomplished person & MP, but he's an appalling 'politician'

In the sense that to be a successful 'politician' you absolutely need to be Machiavellian to outplay the rest & set the agenda in the slippery world of politics

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 18:48

Oh, and Starmer is also a bare faced liar (like other politicians) but he's just not very good at it

Parker231 · 24/10/2019 18:49

@Sunnyuplands - Boris is one of the most prominent leavers - he wants a no deal but is behaving like a child as he can’t get his own way.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:09

If opposition parties vote for election, PR win for BJ (BJ gets Parliament to cave)

If they then go on to dick around with WAB before GE, PR win for BJ (Parliament blocking Brexit)

If they refuse an election, PR win for BJ (Parliament scared of voters)

If they then go on to dick around with WAB, PR win for BJ (Parliament blocking Brexit)

If they keep govt hostage for prolonged period, PR win for BJ (Parliament only interested in game-playing & scared of voters)

That letter & the overall long-game strategy is a masterful example of PR & propaganda 😂😂

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:10

he wants a no deal

He literally has a deal that he is trying to pass 🤷🏻‍♀️

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 19:30

“He literally has a deal that he is trying to pass 🤷🏻‍♀️“

Exactly, I don’t get all of this “take no deal off the table” thing from the opposition now, he has got a deal as requested and required by the benn act, the house has signaled it’s support by voting for it in principle. Letwin passed that amendment to stop no deal by accident.

What am I missing? (Nb, I may well be missing something here, but I’m not sure I am? 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 19:32

Corbyn is all ‘computer says no’ now, from where I am standing. For no good reason other than his own motivations? Confused

Mistigri · 24/10/2019 19:35

You had a vote in 2017. Under law, a Parliament is the will of the people for a whole 5 years. I genuinely hope they carry on doing their sovereignty thing for another 2.5 years. After all, people can't be allowed to change their minds prematurely.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:38

Glitterball 🕺

bellinisurge · 24/10/2019 19:39

The No Deal option is still there. And to avoid means taking Johnson's word. Which is why they aren't taking him at his word.
And other shit that I'm frankly too tired to do my head in about.

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 19:41

@DustyDiamond GrinWine

Chin chin!

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:46

For previous posters who said that there'd be no problem if Brexit wasn't delivered, and a 2nd ref would 'heal', or revoke & remain would 'heal', and who maintain that remainers are peaceniks:

https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/oct/24/majority-of-voters-think-violence-against-mps-is-price-worth-paying-for-brexit?CMP=sharebtnn_tw

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:49

There is real anger out there on both sides of the divide & further delay is just going to aggravate & exacerbate tensions

The best route forward is to agree the WAB, call a GE & move forwards towards a good future arrangement

No deal is just as incendiary as no Brexit

howabout · 24/10/2019 19:50

BBC: Asked what he (Boris) would do if Labour refused to vote for an election, he said: "We would campaign day after day for the people of this country to be released from subjection to a Parliament that has outlived its usefulness."

Chin chin Wine

Pretty sure Labour will manage to get No Deal off the table if they pass the WAB pre Nov 6 as suggested or am I missing something?

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 19:51

You're missing nothing Howabout!

They're just cross because they want to block the deal & they've been boxed into a corner now

bellinisurge · 24/10/2019 19:53

That makes me sick @DustyDiamond .
This is a national interest matter not a party political matter. My view as to what was in the national interest lost. And the moment we triggered Article 50, all complaints about the shitty lies told in the referendum petered out. So the national interest is now getting this stupid fucking deal through because at least it protects GFA.
The offer of Three days of scrutiny was pathetic and shameful. But WA 2.0 is the only deal in town.

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 19:54

“The best route forward is to agree the WAB, call a GE & move forwards towards a good future arrangement”

So much this, what a disturbing poll. Not at all surprising, but very disturbing.

I would definitely march, I would absolutely advocate for legitimate disruption (blockades, strikes etc...) but not violence. Christ. Sad
