Given that Boris has sold the DUP down the river and come up with basically TM's WA, I think this lot are fairly chipper. And they all seem to be moving away from Faridge. Which can only be a good thing.

Parker231 · 24/10/2019 07:31

I definitely think there should be another referendum - as soon as possible. There is much more information and knowledge now about the disastrous impact leaving the EU will have on the UK - it’s economy, financial markets, supply chain. etc Loosing FOM is stupid!

bellinisurge · 24/10/2019 07:35

@Parker231 , I agree that losing FOM is a bad thing but once Article 50 was triggered (after a cockeyed bollocks shit show of an advisory referendum), that was the path Parliament sent us down. And the one two PMs have sought to deliver. They no doubt assumed it would all be fiiiiiiine.
Can't unring a bell, and all that.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 24/10/2019 07:44

Over 80% of 2017 votes were for MPs who stood on an explicit promise to deliver Brexit

Fucking hate this statement...cant remember which politician came up with the original shitty comment

Brexit vote held in 2016, a year or so of being told that we’d had the one referendum chance, we were leaving, it was a done deal (and a really piss easy one) etc

So people all over the country voted for who they wanted to run the country, who they wanted to drive education, sort the environment, deal with the benefits system etc

But nooooo, silly voters . It was a secret 2nd referendum! And cos no one told ANYONE that really whatever you voted would be taken as a backup vote for leave or remain it was quite obviously overwhelmingly ‘victory’ for leave parties...and was always going to be so

Infuriating

On a slightly lighter note, although i did do a bit of research and read round some of the issues i partly voted reman because i knew our government/parliament couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery Grin

I’m not right about a lot of things...and maybe im even wrong about voting remain (im not) but i was fucking right about this one!

Sunnyuplands · 24/10/2019 07:46

The only disaster is that our parliament lost our total trust it doesn't work and this needs addressing urgently.

The eu still remains to be an utter disaster. The eu has not changed at all! Not a single thing Coming from the eu has changed my mind about voting to remain at All.

Infact I'm more desperate to get out the more I read about Germanys major issues and we all know Germany financially upholds the eu.

Parker231 · 24/10/2019 07:51

The EU isn’t a disaster but the UK leaving is a disaster and risks c900k UK jobs. I’ve already seen the start of this with two of my clients moving their businesses out of the UK leaving all the UK employees redundant.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 08:07

As a PP said - we've had a 3 & half year referendum campaign for Remain (it started the day of the result & became organised very quickly. It has been very well funded, has had extensive coverage across all media & there is no part of the electorate that has not been made aware of the case for remain.
Added to the 3+ year remain campaign we have had dire economic predictions re leaving.

And yet, polls have not swung definitively towards remain. In fact, the poll trackers are currently showing just 52.7% to 47.3% in favour of remain.

If remain cannot shore up convincing support with a decent margin after 3+ years of unlimited funding, campaigning & coverage against a backdrop of negative Leave coverage then what on earth convinces remain campaigners that they've got the edge??

MeganBacon · 24/10/2019 08:40

twofingers the only thing that scares me about a second referendum if that it would waste more time and money, the result would be broadly similar and people’s trust in how we are governed would be even further eroded. It would be an utterly corrosive process bringing no benefit to anyone. Given the environment we are operating in, that is genuinely something to fear. The horse really has bolted on this and we should be looking to restore a strong government to stimulate business and deal with all those other things that need to be dealt with including brexit headwinds.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 24/10/2019 08:40

Where has the Remain funding come from?

twofingerstoEverything · 24/10/2019 08:44

As a PP said - we've had a 3 & half year referendum campaign for Remain
Well, that's a load of nonsense.

And yet, polls have not swung definitively towards remain. In fact, the poll trackers are currently showing just 52.7% to 47.3% in favour of remain.
Polls, schmolls. There's really only one way of finding out exactly where the population stands in terms of supporting remain/leave and that would be... yes, a further referendum!

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 08:49

Agree Megan

twofingerstoEverything · 24/10/2019 08:55

If remain cannot shore up convincing support with a decent margin after 3+ years of unlimited funding, campaigning & coverage against a backdrop of negative Leave coverage then what on earth convinces remain campaigners that they've got the edge??

As mentioned above, I'm for remain and in no way convinced we have the edge - mainly because of tribalism/intransigence etc. People just aren't interested in arguments about the economy, NI etc. or the fact that Leave campaigners have significantly shifted since 2016 in terms of what Brexit means for Joe Public (definitely no longer the promised land... more like 'not as bad as the war'...)

Dusty - I would, however, love to know more about the unlimited funding, campaigning and coverage blah blah di blah... Do you not listen to the radio, read the mainstream media, watch QT etc? 'Negative Leave coverage' my arse.
And on that note I'm off to work.

Parker231 · 24/10/2019 09:06

Leavers at the time of the referendum and now aren’t interested in the evidence about the negative impact of leaving. Unfortunately it’s hard to change mindsets.

Who is funding the Remain campaign? Genuine question.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 10:02

😂😂😂

EpicWaffle has it nailed!

👏👏👏👏👏👏

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 10:11

@DustyDiamond haha! I needed a mega rant.

Forgot Bercow. What a tiny little micro penis he is. But it would take me all day to narrow down his remainy shenanigans, so we will stick a pin in that one for now! Grin

TheSultanofPingu · 24/10/2019 10:12

No she hasn't!
The comment about the media being biased towards remain. Bloody hell,I have no words!!

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 10:15

“Bloody hell,I have no words!!”

What a shame. Wink

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 10:18

'Genuine Question'

Funded in myriad ways

I know that you don't for a second believe that the ongoing, relentless remain campaign is entirely free of costs so I'm curious as to how your 'genuine question' was in any way genuine Confused

It's highly visible, coordinated, multi media, fighting court cases, putting on buses to demos, advertising etc etc etc - this costs money.

DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 10:19

"Bloody hell,I have no words!!”

Not gonna lie - I'm not unhappy about this development...

TheSultanofPingu · 24/10/2019 10:21
Grin I've only posted three or four times on this thread, so your tolerance level must be very low.
DustyDiamond · 24/10/2019 10:23

It is Wink

Epicwaffle · 24/10/2019 10:57

Is a quiet day expected today then? Anyone know what’s happening next?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 24/10/2019 11:07

I'm glad your vile rant has been deleted Epicwaffle. A few earlier posts too. Different view points is fine but the poison on this thread is divisive.
