Quite coincidentally I too have been in negotiations today regarding the pubs licence and it's good news here as well, a deal has been agreed!!

There were no amendments or legal objections put forward so a shiny new licence has been issued and normal service can be resumed Smile

Same rules apply.

Now let's hope Saturday's proceedings can go ahead without the usual dicking around and that what has been nigh on impossible during the last 3 years, a majority, can be achieved otherwise I feel we are off to hell in a handcart!

First drink is on the house 🍻🍷🍻🍷Cheers

What is wrong with the phrase? I am genuinely interested, especially to hear from those on low income. My DP is a leaver and I suspect he would be selfishly happy to see de-regulation, as he is an employer.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 18/10/2019 21:02

how do I vote to ensure that, for example, the terms of the Working Time Directive are Maintained?
Go ask all the people standing for election in your area and vote for the one that agrees with you.

Parker231 · 18/10/2019 21:05

We currently have protection through the EU for employment issues such as the working time regulations. In Boris’s deal he has removed the alignment with the EU law and it’s now only classed as an aspiration.

frumpety · 18/10/2019 21:07

Go ask all the people standing for election in your area and vote for the one that agrees with you

What happens if no-one else does or and I know this is controversial on here , what happens if they lie to you ?

howabout · 18/10/2019 21:08

how do I vote to ensure that, for example, the terms of the Working Time Directive are Maintained?

"Genuinely" interested to know how staying in the EU guarantees this. Does the EU never ever change any of its legislation and does my vote count for more in EU than UK elections or something. Confused

Limited now you are concerned about the poor deluded workers too misguided to understand what they voted for I have no idea how you expect them to be able to construct a reasoned justification for their lack of concern which you would comprehend. Shock

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:09

Can you elaborate on why you’re not concerned though? Maybe I don’t understand it like you do as to me it sounds very worrying.

What sounds worrying?

frumpety · 18/10/2019 21:09

Or they lie to you and loads of other people believe them too ?

Limitedsimba123 · 18/10/2019 21:12

Wow why so defensive? And no, it’s just TM’s WA ensured these rights were protected, which I seem to recall most leavers on here supported, this is a major shift in direction and no one seems remotely phased by it.

howabout · 18/10/2019 21:13

Dusty Faisal's crystal balls being broken has been concerning me for a while tbh Glitterball - been looking for an excuse to use that emoji for ages whoop whoop

frumpety · 18/10/2019 21:14

I think the media are a bit to blame, they should be dissecting this WA everywhere, its not a secret, no harm in everyone knowing exactly what it means for Sally and everyone else is there Wink

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:15

I will never, ever understand the mindset of people who view the EU like a protective matron, peering fearfully from behind her skirts

I want the UK to have autonomy over its laws, borders, courts, trade & money.

I do not want an extra layer of interference

I do not want to be part of a federal Europe

time4chocolate · 18/10/2019 21:16

Parker I really not concerned because:

  1. it appears from remain leaning media sources to be the new ‘in thing’ the remain collective can get together and clench on (it’s tedious)
  2. Any change to employment law etc needs to be passed through parliament.
  3. There was a new environmental bill in the Queens speech last week/Boris is chairing a new committee on climate change is he not.

So I am very sorry but I can’t join you in collective clenching.

Howabout 😂😂

howabout · 18/10/2019 21:17

I didn't back May's WA. HTH.

Also see above re "guarantees of EU alignment" = Rights preserved in aspic. It really doesn't.

Why were any Remainers happy with May's WA? In the EU with no say = worst of all options imo

Limitedsimba123 · 18/10/2019 21:17

I am a worker, I think it is incredibly risky to trust any government to stand by a legally meaningless declaration that current rights will be upheld, especially when some MPs may have a vested interest to, for example, de-regulate. Yes we could vote these people out, but what happens in the interim?

KennDodd · 18/10/2019 21:18

Also if this government are so keen on workers rights and environmental protection how come they insisted it's removed from the WA?

frumpety · 18/10/2019 21:18

Its not a broken crystal ball Howabout, it is what Boris's WA has in it compared to what Mays WA had in it. Bit like comparing insurance policies really, nothing controversial about doing that, think most people check they are getting the same level of cover when swapping don't they ?

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:19

I backed TM's WA only because I thought it was the only way to start moving forwards

I support this one for the same reason, but it's also much better

frumpety · 18/10/2019 21:20

Much better for who DustyDiamond ?

BertrandRussell · 18/10/2019 21:23

“ 2) Any change to employment law etc needs to be passed through parliament.“

Does it?

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:23

I am a worker, I think it is incredibly risky to trust any government to stand by a legally meaningless declaration that current rights will be upheld

It's democracy.

Govts can be removed & replaced if the population does not support their actions

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:24

Much better for who DustyDiamond ?

Much better in that it better reflects Brexit

DustyDiamond · 18/10/2019 21:27

I'm less worried about tomorrow now actually.

A good gauge of whether the Brexit wreckers are worried that Brexit may actually happen is when a swarm of remainers descend on these threads

BertrandRussell · 18/10/2019 21:27

“Much better in that it better reflects Brexit”

In what way?

Limitedsimba123 · 18/10/2019 21:32

Sorry Dusty but can you not see the irony in what you’re posting? Leavers have been moaning literally for years that the remainer establishment have been blocking Brexit despite a GE since the referendum, but you put trust in the same system to protect our current rights when some MP’s, particularly the ERG, may have a vested interest in de-regulation?
