Quite coincidentally I too have been in negotiations today regarding the pubs licence and it's good news here as well, a deal has been agreed!!

There were no amendments or legal objections put forward so a shiny new licence has been issued and normal service can be resumed Smile

Same rules apply.

Now let's hope Saturday's proceedings can go ahead without the usual dicking around and that what has been nigh on impossible during the last 3 years, a majority, can be achieved otherwise I feel we are off to hell in a handcart!

First drink is on the house 🍻🍷🍻🍷Cheers

Prior to the referendum in the 70s were there government Impact assessments published stating the country would be worse off?

ContinuityError · 21/10/2019 19:32

Maybe it's worth pointing out to the people who say a second referendum is needed because Leavers didn't know what they were voting for in 2016, that in the 1970s when we voted to join the EU people also didn't know what they were voting for.

It’s worth pointing out to people that have such a poor grasp of history that nobody in the UK voted in a referendum to join the EEC.

And people knew that the Common Market was more than just a trading bloc - unless they didn’t actually read the information supplied to them at the time.

ContinuityError · 21/10/2019 19:37

might as well put the UK up for auction to highest bidder by their standards

Already happened - even the MoD sold its strategic fuel pipeline and storage system to a Spanish company.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 21/10/2019 19:38

Bad behaviour comes from both people who voted remain and people who voted leave (or say they did at least)

I really dont know why it seems to be so difficult to take the high road and ignore the fuckers

Ive turned ignoring people into an art form...there are people on this very thread that dont know im ignoring them, thats how good i am at it

(Thats a joke...i dont think this thread has anyone im actively ignoring)

time4chocolate · 21/10/2019 19:38

Continuity I don't have any problem at all with Parliament being sovereign.

I have a problem with Parliament voting unanimously to do something and then trying every trick in the book to reverse it (and getting more desperate by the day). I'm sitting here, as a lot of people are, just watching it play out and thinking they haven't got a fucking clue, just shortsighted headless chicken stuff . Not a good look in anyone's eyes, even the EU can see that. Parliaments arrogance will come back to bite them severely at the next GE and I can't wait.

Say what you like about Cummings but he is the only one that has a strategy and he is playing the long game.

We will be leaving Smile

But Johnson tried every trick in the book - extended prorogation was just such a trick. And grease-smug tried one last night, for example. No one comes out looking well in this. It's our sovereign Parliament. Our sovereign constitution. That's how it works. Bleating about it shows how our of our depth we all are in this shenanigans while posh boys play us for fools.

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 19:46

So , 17.4 million people want to leave at all costs ? Are you absolutely sure about that ? All and any costs ? That's the most important thing in their lives, the biggest issue facing all those many varied lives ?

And this perfectly demonstrates the point which many anti-Brexit people are missing.

It's not about whether or not you support or voted for 'leave' anymore - it's about democracy being destroyed.

It's bigger than Leave vs Remain

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 19:47

He’s playing to the ignorant.

And their vote is equal in weight to yours 🤷🏻‍♀️

frumpety · 21/10/2019 19:48

So you would rather be able to say that your sort of democracy as you understand it, is upheld, regardless of the outcome for 65 million people ?

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 19:50

No one comes out looking well in this.

I agree with this

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/10/2019 19:51

Ask a binary question, have no plan for brexit, trigger an election that leads to a hung parliament, shaft the party that provided confidence and supply, sack your rebels, expect difficulties.

This isn't a failure of democracy it's a failure to have a competent government

bellinisurge · 21/10/2019 19:52

But Faridge was whining about those initial comments which suggested that we wouldn't be offered an extension. Because they appeared to disregard the Benn Act. Produced by our sovereign parliament. You can't pick and choose which bits of democracy you don't like. Otherwise you are as much of a knob as he is.

Maybe you could contact Wikipedia and put them right?

Pity some people are so ignorant of their own countries history

1975 United Kingdom European Communities membership referendum

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 19:53

So you would rather be able to say that your sort of democracy as you understand it, is upheld, regardless of the outcome for 65 million people ?

'My sort of democracy'?

You still refuse to get it.

I can't change your mind, and to be honest I don't give a shit what you think - but if you can't grasp the bigger picture in this then you'll never understand why so many people, regardless of how they voted, are so angry

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 21/10/2019 19:54

I think im being ignored Shock

THE IRONY!!!

Grin
DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 19:56

I think im being ignored Shock

😂😂😂😂

I'm not ignoring you, honest!!

There are some names that I do tend to ignore though - I wish MN had a mute button

time4chocolate · 21/10/2019 19:56

It's bigger than Leave vs Remain

Absolutely👍

Walkingdeadfangirl · 21/10/2019 19:58

The Tories cant be trusted on "final destinations" that's the problem.

That's just a meaningless soundbite. Just as well say no politician can be trusted on final destinations. How many times did all the remain MPs say they would not stand in the way of Brexit? etc

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 21/10/2019 20:00

I'm not ignoring you, honest

Im just being needy Grin

To be fair, if i was another poster id probably ignore me

Sunnyuplands · 21/10/2019 20:01

Oh gosh no, impossible to mistake you.
Smile
Many times it's been mentioned that leavers have not been free to dicuss brexit freely without being asked endless questions and being subjected to abuse as per that post, you studiously ignored.. Perhaps so the next time,, someone mentiones the above, you can continue in 'genuine' the remoaner type of special 'genuine'.. That you have never seen it....

Is that the tactic?

frumpety · 21/10/2019 20:06

Dusty I don't refuse to get it, honestly , I just worry about the lives of the 65 million people in the UK, including yours. That a fifth of the country could inflict such harm on the other four fifths doesn't feel very democratic. But that that is the way democracy apparently works, doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Nor do the other 40 odd million people who will be affected.

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 20:07

I was told I was 'beneath contempt' the other night for posting too much 😮

And it was heavily implied that I was exceedingly common & thick!

And I was called a man, with a 'misogynistic tone'!!!!

And then some other moany face told us all to fuck off earlier today for no other reason than we're 'brainless arseholes'

The nastiness is strong in our angry anti-brexit comrades!!

DustyDiamond · 21/10/2019 20:11

Oh! And another poster slagged me off for being on benefits!

Lovely bunch of folk the anti-brexit brigade!

ContinuityError · 21/10/2019 20:12

yellowallpaper

The 1975 referendum was a vote to remain in the EEC - not to join it. The UK joined in 1973.

Suggest you actually read your Wiki link which explains exactly that.

As you say - pity some people are so ignorant of their own counties [sic] history.

yellowallpaper · 21/10/2019 20:16

Semantics darling, semantics
