Quite coincidentally I too have been in negotiations today regarding the pubs licence and it's good news here as well, a deal has been agreed!!

There were no amendments or legal objections put forward so a shiny new licence has been issued and normal service can be resumed Smile

Same rules apply.

Now let's hope Saturday's proceedings can go ahead without the usual dicking around and that what has been nigh on impossible during the last 3 years, a majority, can be achieved otherwise I feel we are off to hell in a handcart!

First drink is on the house 🍻🍷🍻🍷Cheers

All deals usually benefit the largest grouping which is the point of the EU when negotiating with USA/China/Japan etc.

When the Trump administration specify their terms for deals, the only response from the UK on it's own will be just to sign on the dotted line, similarly with China.
While the rabid leavers see getting out of the EU as a grand plan, being in and negotiating is far preferable as the EU project is not simply 'trade but a whole host of other concerns but the radical bone head levers can't understand this subtlety. and prefer to hand over all legislation to the incompetent UK government who have fucked the UK over repeatedly for the last century or more.

On a different subject - does anyone know what the Marches are marching for today?
They are marching to show their opposition to Brexit and to show that when MPs and others trot out the 'will of the people' rhetoric, there are huge numbers of people (yes, PEOPLE!) whose 'will' is the opposite. They are a broad church of Tories, LibDems, Greens and Labour supporters, ex-Leavers, People's Vote supporters, people who may well have supported a Norway-type deal, people who value FOM, who don't like the hostility shown to EU migrants, EU migrants living in the UK who were not allowed to vote, young people who were refused a say in their future, and various others who have not been sucked in by the rhetoric. 'People's Vote' is just a convenient banner under which all these groups can show their dissent.

I would have thought that was wholly obvious Hmm but HTH.

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 11:01

😂 dirty

HateIsNotGood · 19/10/2019 11:02

The proposed arrangements for NI are 'temporary' and can be altered and decided upon by the electorate of NI when Stormont is re-instated.
My hope for NI is that in the next GE, the Alliance Party is returned with an huge majority.

I'd like to think that NI is like the rest of the UK but it patently isn't at the moment. Look at what happened to the Board of Quinn Industries last month - what happened is nothing to do with Brexit and more like The Sopranos.

Maybe as the Alliance Party takes control - these vicious, vile 'mafioso' types will lose theirs.

twofingerstoEverything · 19/10/2019 11:09

Loving all the sneering about today's march - it stinks of envy that Remain can gets hundreds of thousands of people into the streets of London. Remember Farage's desultory little march (bless!)? Remember Tommy Robinson fans dragging a gallows around Westminster at the Brexit Betrayal March? Now that was something to sneer at!

howabout · 19/10/2019 11:10

twofingers just as I thought. How are they proposing to settle their differences? Democracy tends to work better than those who shout loudest and cause the most disruption getting their way imho.

On second thoughts maybe if we change our minds all the protesters will go and clutter up Brussels instead. Could be a win win especially if we point out that Extinction Rebellion would have far more leverage there.

In fact I am almost convinced. Let the EU run our lives and pass as much regulation as they like. Then we can just ignore it all and carry on as we see fit. The ECJ can listen to Jo ad infinitum and give us all a bit of peace. We will agree with whatever they pronounce while never enforcing it. Then we can happily lock up all our politicians just like they do in Spain. If anyone decides to protest anywhere except Brussels we will follow Macron's approach.

HateIsNotGood · 19/10/2019 11:11

Twofingers so the March isn't for anything in particular besides just an anti-Brexit March. Better tell fluffy then.

And perfectly ok that the marchers have differing views on what their idea of what the March is about. Just like it's also ok for pro-Brexit people to have different ideas too.

And no need to be so condescending, we keep it polite in here.

Limitedsimba123 · 19/10/2019 11:17

So with that Dusty I assume you are saying that JRM et al do have our best interests at heart. I think that is incredibly naive, his voting record speaks for itself.

I don’t think he welcomes more accountability per se, i would say our version of ‘accountability’ (that he will lose his seat in 5 years time) is so trivial to him that it is no deterrent to him aiming to succeed to deregulate for his own gain, despite any negative outcomes for the public.

Sunnyuplands · 19/10/2019 11:20

Does anyone know how long they debate for, before the vote?

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 11:20

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

You're so funny!!!

twofingerstoEverything · 19/10/2019 11:20

Sure you do. Polite but sneery, yes?

howabout · 19/10/2019 11:24

As long as they want to according to twitter Sunny

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 19/10/2019 11:24

Have you not got a march to go on?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 19/10/2019 11:26

But marching is a complete waste of time.

Today’s vote will go in remains favour, they’ll be another extension, a GE, and months ( years ) of more uncertainty and arguing.

Which is what you want so all good Smile

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 11:27

Limited I literally cannot think of yet another way to say exactly the same thing.

I will try once more, but I shan't bother again after this so don't @ me if you still don't understand because I've lost interest now.

My position has fuck all to do with the motivations of individual MPs.
What I care about is our democratically elected representatives having the autonomy to make decisions on our governance, and as a result being directly accountable for those decisions.
Leaving the EU makes this a reality.
Remaining in the EU does not.

twofingerstoEverything · 19/10/2019 11:30

Have you not got a march to go on?
I've been on all the others, but my arthritis is crippling at the moment and I can barely make the walk to my local station. Thanks for your concern though.
Twat.

twofingerstoEverything · 19/10/2019 11:33

I wouldn't bank on the former, but whatever happens there will be years more uncertainty and arguing. Maybe even decades if you're lucky.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 19/10/2019 11:34

You got nothing better to do than spend your day personally attacking other mumsnetters?

Okay.,

twofingerstoEverything · 19/10/2019 11:36

Where's the personal attack? Maybe report it?

Typical 'Leaver 'lies' The UK government has always had autonomy that is partly why the UK is more fucked already than some of the wealthier EU countries. If you had a brain and bothered to use it rather than parroting the gutter press you might understand this.

😂😂😂

Always a pleasure to witness the kindly nature of remoaners on these threads!

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 19/10/2019 11:40

You called me a twat.

If you think that’s an acceptable way to behave then that’s your problem.

Yes, in the face of your goady fuckery, indeed I did. Please report me. It would be a badge of honour to have a MN post deletion. I don't think I've had one before.
