Brexit Arms - Pop Up

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

😂😂 love that Boris bunting Dusty

Just having a quick catch up on the morning’s news, I see the Famous Five (or maybe six) have popped over to Brussels for lashings of ginger beer and grovelling.

Read this on Twitter:

They will be licking the windows all the way there Smile

I thought he said he wouldn’t ask for an extension ?

PM will write letter to EU asking for Brexit delay if no deal by Saturday

Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay tells MPs that Boris Johnson will "comply" with court undertakings over an Article 50 extension.

time4chocolate · 16/10/2019 14:36

Who really knows Parker but the Remainer MPs are doing their bit today for Democracy and the good of the Country Hmm - bless them, they really are on a different page.

Grin Grin

According to IDS he has been misrepresented. “I wasn't exploding anywhere. I simply went in to try and help the Government figure out how they protect Britain's sovereign right to make decisions, without being imposed upon by the EU during the period before we finally complete a free trade deal.”

I now have visions of the Boris bunting being fully equipped with IDS party poppers. Gin

European Council President Donald Tusk says it should be known in seven to eight hours when Brexit could happen

DustyDiamond · 16/10/2019 14:58

BJ was always going to send the letter if reqd imo - saying he wouldn't was pure trolling by Cummings 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did its job though - got the anti-brexit dickheads flapping & flailing about & laid bare their true colours to their constituents.

Also kept them distracted as they were preoccupied with frantically trying to figure out his supposed loophole.

And! It helped to expose the anti-Brexit coalition's disdain for the electorate - firming up the Parliament vs people narrative (when they repeatedly refused a GE)

Also led the likes of odious Jo Maugham to bemoan the travesty that EU treaties can override Parliament's will - thus supporting the Brexiter position that this is not an acceptable state of affairs.

If he'd truly wanted to stymie the 'surrender treaty', BJ would have simply let the lords filibuster it out.

Top trolling by BJ & co
Classic Dom 😉😂

DustyDiamond · 16/10/2019 15:00
  • Surrender Bill, not Surrender Treaty 🙄
howabout · 16/10/2019 15:29

Surrender Act Dusty. It's The Law dontcha know Wink

Parker231 · 16/10/2019 15:41

@DustyDiamond - I am 100% anti Brexit but not a dickhead! All I want is the best for the UK, EU residents living in the UK (me) and my friends from the UK now living in other EU countries. Leaving the EU is not the best option for any of us - if anyone will be better off by leaving please let me know?!

😂😂 Sorry!!

Sorry Parker (and others) - I meant MPs, not ordinary people 😍

BJ couldn't let the Lords filibuster it out btw. The majority in the Lords ensured that could not happen.

They had 86 daft amendments tabled to the business motion & were insisting on division for practically every one - they only called it off when No10 advised them to.

DustyDiamond · 16/10/2019 19:57

Odious Maugham interfering with democracy again it seems.

Those with the deepest pockets & capital (intellectual/cultural/social etc) get to dictate how the country is governed.

If there's a problem with the agreement then it's up to Parliament to deal with it, not the courts.

We do not vote for judges - Britain is supposed to be a democracy, via MPs directly elected by the people, not ruled by the judiciary.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 16/10/2019 19:59

Pesky laws eh?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 16/10/2019 20:04

A UK law too. Bloody sovereignty.

it's a bit like running to mummy when something isn't going your way.

In fact the whole three and a half years has just been one massive remain tantrum. It's getting a bit ridiculous now.

or you could say the whole 3.5 years has just been one massive failure of Brexiteers to come up with a plan that isn't detrimental to the country.

time4chocolate · 16/10/2019 20:44

So remain MPs plan is what? oh whoops sorry I forgot they don't have one. Actually reverse that as I think they do, it's to not vote through any deal coz, you know, that is going to be sooooo beneficial for the Country Hmm

OP posts:
Walkingdeadfangirl · 16/10/2019 20:49

Isn't it interesting that Boris can almost get a deal in 2 weeks but it took May 3 years. Imagine what Boris could have done if MP's hadn't created the surrender bill and collaborated with the EU to stop the 17.4 million UK people escaping.

bellinisurge · 16/10/2019 20:50

How many people on here supported WA?
