Brexit Arms - Pop Up

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

For fans of BBCChristian and 100 Days:
Every year, Katmai National Park and Preserve crowns a Fat Bear of the Year. This year's winner was bear 435, named Holly.

A former park ranger notes that “Holly was single this summer and able to devote all her energy toward herself".

Sally should draw inspiration. Grin

I am waiting for your prove that the EU wouldn't have compromised on any and all elements of the deal had parliament agreed overwhelmingly it was leave in 2 years with or without a deal.

Shouldn't be hard for you to prove it its so obvious?

I have done - we could have left twice already and the EU didn’t fall over themselves to prevent no deal

Even now they won’t accept BJs ridiculous 2 border option even to avoid no deal.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:27

I can understand what that answer means

Could we have a sensible answer that doesn’t involve Sally or Dave

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:29

Lets see your proof?

As above, we’re approaching deadline 3 and they’re still not caving in to BJs alternatives unless they protect the GFA

They know no deal will be shite but more so for us than them

54321go · 13/10/2019 17:49

If the UK 'No deals' then the EU will simply collect the money the UK owes (39 Billion plus a bit more because the UK did not leave in March., so that is around a Billion a month extra). Then they will implement their 'no deal' plans and withdraw the benefits the UK currently gets.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 17:51

So avoiding answering then? Its a simple question why can't you answer? Where is the proof we couldn't have gotten a better deal IF the UK parliament had backed a deal or no deal approach?

Parliament have hamstrung May and now Boris to stop them getting a better deal as per the strategy right from the start to stop Brexit from ever happening.

We will probably be left with no option but to go for a NO deal on Saturday.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:53

In the event of no deal they split their pain 27 ways, albeit not equally.

We have to take the whole lot in one hit.

That’s why everyone except the Joe public leave supporters knows that no deal is an empty threat.

Even BJ and his cronies know it’s a terrible idea - that why they’re trying everything they can to avoid it, whilst setting it up to blame those who supported it if it does happen.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:58

Leavers literally do see things through an entirely different lens don’t they?

How much more proof do you need that we don’t really want to leave with no deal than the fact we failed to do so twice?

And the fact that it wouldn’t have mattered if we’d promised no deal from the beginning (which TM did with her ‘no deal is better than a bad deal) because the EU could only ever offer what the red lines permitted.

They wouldn’t have changed their stance unless the red lines changed. That’s why they still won’t now.

Do you really not see that?

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 18:07

Bear I don't want to be sensible, in a pub.

I'm here to have some fun aside from praying for Sally that it is Smile.

Very inspiring how about.

Let's keep that candle burning 🔥.

Parker231 · 13/10/2019 18:08

Boris Johnson will "probably not" ask the EU to delay Brexit even if no deal is agreed this week, Jean-Claude Juncker has said.
The European Commission president said he was not expecting the UK to "ask for extra time" but that he would not block a further extension if one was requested.

howabout · 13/10/2019 18:09

The WA doesn't respect May's Red Lines. Confused It is predicated on a pathway to permanent SM alignment and CU to get rid of Backstop. Last I heard extensions eat into transition rather than being in addition. If we extend again there will effectively be no transition left to negotiate future trading relationship.

Why do you want the UK to Remain Bear?

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 18:23

How much more proof do you need that we don’t really want to leave with no deal than the fact we failed to do so twice?

'We' being Parliament

Which has:

  • a significant number of anti-brexit MPs who will do anything possible to subvert & stop Brexit
  • an opposition party (Labour) which prioritises party politics over the country's future
  • another opposition party which prizes Scottish independence above all else

Parliament as it currently is does not represent the people.
There has been unprecedented levels of party switching since 2017 & a significant number of MPs have reneged on the promises they made to their constituents re Brexit in 2017 when they were after their vote

'We' have not left with no deal purely because anti-Brexit Parliament wants to stop Brexit altogether.

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 18:28

Bear is a No Dealer fgs. Why do you think otherwise about them? Is it because they are asking you questions? Is that why you think they are a Remainer? Ask questions = a Remainer. Weirder and weirder.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 18:28

I think I'm more pissed off with Sally's family members who are trying to force her to stay than I am with Dave tbh.

Dave wants her to stay, I get that - she's a major contributor to the household.

But a significant number of Sally's family just want her to be fucking miserable & are actively trying to thwart her attempt at emancipation & autonomy.
All because they've got a weird, childish crush on Dave 🤷🏻‍♀️

ContinuityError · 13/10/2019 18:30

It is predicated on a pathway to permanent SM alignment and CU to get rid of Backstop.

Only in NI - rUK leaves CU and SM.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 18:32

Bear is a No Dealer fgs. Why do you think otherwise about them? Is it because they are asking you questions? Is that why you think they are a Remainer? Ask questions = a Remainer. Weirder and weirder.

You know damn well I’m a Remainer - tbh you look more than a little daft implying otherwise

It is possible to have wanted to remain but see no deal and repairing the damage ASAP as the only option now

It’s clear from this thread that Leavers have yet to align themselves with reality.

That and the fact BJ doesn’t have the numbers to get a WA through means it’s either no deal or dragging this on again with yet another extension.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 18:33

Why do you want the UK to Remain Bear?

Simple - the advantages of Remaining outweigh the advantages of leaving

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 18:34

I don't know why she continues with the 'bear is a no-dealer' schtick Bear 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trying to get a rise out of you most likely.

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 18:35

I can't keep up with you fluctuating positions Bear although your mood is generally the same.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 18:37

bellini my position hasn’t fluctuated at all - you’re just looking foolish for thinking it has.

As dusty said, it’s just part of your sticking poking activity.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 18:38

I know you're not a leaver Bear, but welcome to our world - where posters who are perpetually angry that the vote went against them twist your words, deliberately misinterpret everything you say & try to goad you into snapping.

That's why leavers on these threads take the piss & don't engage seriously.
Because it's not worth the effort.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 18:39

I’m pretty sure not a single regular poster on here would think I’m anything other than a Remainer.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 18:40

I’m pretty sure not a single regular poster on here would think I’m anything other than a Remainer.

I dunno tbh

You seem to have a sense of humour - a trait that is lacking in the MN anti-brexit posse

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 18:40

Well last time we discussed it you said Border in the sea was total idiocy and not even worth considering. And now you seem to want to talk about it. And then there was the time you were full square for No Deal.
Reads like fluctuating to me.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 18:42
