Brexit Arms - Pop Up

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 18:16

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

Full & detailed explanations were given over & over again by many different leave voters in the weeks before & after the ref.

Since then, the nastiness & abuse directed at leavers on MN led to many disengaging completely & others just deciding not to bother anymore.

I've personally tried several times over the past 3+ years to engage in good faith on these threads & others but quickly get fucked off with the pile-ons & dickish behaviour, so I now rarely bother.

Wrt BJ's offering, I'm pretty sure it'll be a tweaked WA & I'm ok with that.
I'm reconciled to the fact that it's the only way that Brexit will happen now & that's what matters most to me at this time - at least the process will begin at last.

I think it could have been dealt with far, far better but TM was a remainer who was applying a remainer's logic of 'what leavers wanted' to her approach & she got too caught up in that to see the bigger picture.
She was also hamstrung by people like Rudd & Hammond, as well as giving too much leeway to the ERG.

I also have contempt for Parliament as a whole due to the shameless game-playing & Party politicking that they have regaled in.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 16:41

And every reason a leaver gives means nothing to a remainer. Hence leavers dont bother any more. You aren't actually interested in leavers opinions

I am but we never get any. I lost count of how many times I asked burps about what deal was possible in her / his mind and all we got was bollocks about Sally and Dave

We all know it’s because you simply can’t answer the question but after more than 3 years this charade about ‘you could answer but you wont’ is wearing very very thin

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 16:43

Surely it's time for one of these posters to say "google it"!😂😂

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/10/2019 16:44

We all know it’s because you simply can’t answer the question

Stop asking then.
Other threads are available.

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 16:45

I've articulated as clearly as I can.
I want to escape crazy dave and his cult of blued up starred minions.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 16:45

Surely it's time for one of these posters to say "google it"

Heaven forbid anyone should suggest that.

Last time someone did another poster got a strop on because she "works & pays taxes and is far too busy to use google"

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 13/10/2019 16:45

This should be renamed the Batshit Arms

MockersthefeMANist · 13/10/2019 16:46

Reasons for Leaving (so far as I can make out):

  • Because we say so
  • Because the £39bn
  • Because bananas and kippers in ice pillows
  • Because the elite

None of which make any sense to me.

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 16:46

Back to Sally and Dave then. I thought you lot were triggered by analogies, anyway.
I suppose you need to keep yourselves amused while Johnson shafts you all.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 16:46

😂😂😂

🙏🙏🙏

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 16:47

I am but we never get any
No its because remainers jump on every comment, with things like.
"More idiotic bollocks"

Sorry, leavers are not punch bags for remainers who cant accept the result of a democratic vote.
Maybe if we had a thread where only RESPECTFUL questions and comments to leavers where allowed! Shock

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 16:48

I've articulated as clearly as I can. I want to escape crazy dave and his cult of blued up starred minions.

That wasn’t the question - you specifically stated that we could have got a better deal if everyone had supported leaving from the day after the referendum.

I’m asking how that is possible unless you are prepared to drop the red lines

That shouldn’t be a difficult question

Voila212 · 13/10/2019 16:50

Fair enough time4, media coverage here is very tame compared to the uk. Most newpaper/news sites tend to report the facts and reports without the sensationalism. I read a lot of the UK sites from the Telegraph to the financial Times and I must say some of the headlines come across as trying to cause a major divide between the British people, to rev up either side to fever pitch. Your mps seem to be doing the same.
I get your point about the Scottish referendum but in the same breath before they held the ref, the UK government urged Scottish people to vote to remain in the union to continue to be part of the EU!! I hope there's a deal because no deal will do damage to Ireland however I accept the consequences of no deal rather risk the peace on the island of Ireland. I hope it gets sorted soon but I fear there's years ahead after the 31st.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 16:50

Maybe if we had a thread where only RESPECTFUL questions and comments to leavers where allowed!

My question is perfectly respectable.

Maybe you could help burps out if you agree a better deal was possible

What do you think could be different?

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 16:52

Respectful not respectable

MockersthefeMANist · 13/10/2019 16:53

remainers who cant accept the result of a democratic vote.

versus Leavers who don't understand the British Constitution, and the fact that if the referendum had been made legally binding, it would have been struck down as unlawful for all the foreign money, data protection breaches and lying buses.

54321go · 13/10/2019 16:58

If leavers want respect, maybe consider the 'we on get over it' crap despite being unable to define what you have won.

What you have 'won' so far is a failing economy, years of major hassle for UK employers with significant job losses.
of course over the last 3 years the UK gov has poured money into the NHS, improving employment prospects outside London Established a properly functioning welfare system, improved all schools and cut crime across the UK.
OK, so they haven't. What is their excuse now?

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2019 17:00

This thread started out in a relatively calm manner. It's gone utterly batshit now! All we need is mummmy to come along to add her usual batshittery and we'll have a full complement.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 17:00

My question is perfectly respectable
Yes, but your responses to answers are not and unfortunately other remainers on this thread are even more insulting.

I’m asking how that is possible unless you are prepared to drop the red lines
You were given a perfectly sensible answer but you didn't like it so you inferred the poster was stupid. If you dont like the answer, then just agree to disagree.

Perhaps you could prove that if a majority of MPs had overwhelmingly agreed to leave with NO deal after 2 years then the EU wouldn't have compromised?

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:03

You were given a perfectly sensible answer but you didn't like it so you inferred the poster was stupid. If you dont like the answer, then just agree to disagree.

Could you point me to that post as I honestly don’t recall seeing a remotely sensible answer

Like I said, it’s not a difficult question - if you believe a better deal was possible what elements do you think would be better?

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 17:04

So if Johnson comes back with the deal I and others have been suggesting for ages we are still "Remainers " in your eyes. Do grow up.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 17:05

Perhaps you could prove that if a majority of MPs had overwhelmingly agreed to leave with NO deal after 2 years then the EU wouldn't have compromised?

We could have left twice with no deal already - the EU don’t want that but they are better prepared for it than we are

They cannot and will not compromise more than they have unless the red lines change

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/10/2019 17:05

It’s like being cross examined in court on these threads.

Leavers, just stop engaging.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 17:10

Could you point me to that post as I honestly don’t recall seeing a remotely sensible answer I want to escape crazy dave and his cult of blued up starred minions.
I can understand what that answer means.

if you believe a better deal was possible what elements do you think would be better?
I am waiting for your prove that the EU wouldn't have compromised on any and all elements of the deal had parliament agreed overwhelmingly it was leave in 2 years with or without a deal.

Shouldn't be hard for you to prove it its so obvious?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 17:11

They cannot and will not compromise more than they have unless the red lines change

Lets see your proof?
