Brexit Arms - Pop Up

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 18:16

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

Confused you've totally missed the point there continuity Grin

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 22:33

Bear I take that as some sort of compliment thank you 😁🐻. My spelling and grammar are very poor.

It's sweet to hear you think it's OK. Unless mummy was really atrocious.

On that note, goodnight. I'd love to hang around the bar a little longer... But bed is calling.

Bearbehind · 12/10/2019 22:34

So you can’t actually answer my question.

Shocker.

Someone's been at the glue Grin

ContinuityError · 12/10/2019 22:40

@Burpsandrustles

Do enlighten me.

Unless you’re trying to do some kind of reverse thing regarding who Googled what?

Maybe best to try that sort of thing when you’re in a position to sound a bit less addled. Probably best you’re away to your bed to sleep it off.

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 12/10/2019 22:49

Really Burps, you're making yourself sound more and more like a bot!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 00:14

Oh dear, are remoaners still using the propaganda house analogy?

We live in a prison house, we get free room and board, health care, food. A majority of prisoners want freedom, the minority says NO, we like it here, we are lifers. Leavers try to escape, remainers tell the lawyers. Lawyers say NO, you are doomed to eternity to staying in our prison.

Leavers are demonised for trying to escape their prison.

Leavers fight for freedom, it will get dirty. The minority cant take their snouts out of the trough.

Freedom is worth fighting for, no matter the cost.

My analogy wins.

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 13/10/2019 00:39

Ah, the leave campaign never used any propaganda. No. Not at all.

For fuck's sake! Please, have some self awareness!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 00:50

For fuck's sake! Please, have some self awareness!

I agree please tell remainers to have some self awareness.

ArseDarkly · 13/10/2019 03:56

whack-a-bot!

twofingerstoEverything · 13/10/2019 07:46

What I'm saying is exactly what I wrote in my post. That had every mp in heart mind and soul honoured the ref and devoted themselves to getting the best deal as a united team...

You are living in a fantasy world, Burps. Expecting every MP to 'honour' something they don't believe in, is like expecting an atheist to put their heart and soul into becoming a catholic. The only way every MP and - more importantly, every member of the public - could be persuaded to rally around this together would be for the government to present to parliament and the public a scenario that is better than what we currently have, rather than something built on lies and fantasy.

If Parliament had been given a chance to be properly involved from the outset, things might also have been different, but TM was too busy throwing down her red lines - which in no way refleced the closeness of the referendum result, and shouting meaningless slogans about citizens of nowhere, red white and blue brexit etc etc.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 13/10/2019 07:49

Has there been a "leaver special" on glue?

Parker231 · 13/10/2019 07:53

You’re not going to get MP’s or the public rallying around a deal which they can see is to their detriment.

twofingerstoEverything · 13/10/2019 07:54

Burps Bear from the beginning every mp should have accepted the result honourably without ever reneging on it. Every mind focused on the deal the moment leave won. Differences put aside and solid work on every variable deal, negotiation, solution problem.

Burps, do you understand how our government works? Most MPs have no opportunity to do 'solid work' on anything. They vote on the government's proposals. The people who decide stuff and put it to parliament are the few MPs who sit in cabinet and Dominic Cummings.

Angryresister · 13/10/2019 07:56

Just received a letter telling me ( and millions of others) that my rights to healthcare and pensions annual increase will stop after Brexit. Is this what you leavers voted for? Did you vote for more expensive food? What did the EU do to you? Please explain how leaving will help you? How everything will become less beaurocratic? How laws protecting workers are damaging to UK? How beaches becoming less clean due to getting rid of EU rules is a great thing to look forward to? Well , anything really.

lonelyplanetmum · 13/10/2019 07:59

Just dipped into the thread.. a bit weird that MPs are supposed to act in cohort?

Is every mp in heart mind and soul supposed to honoured one side in any contentious matter once that side has won? Eg fox hunting - say the ban was lifted are the anti fox hunting group then supposed to devote themselves to getting the outcome as a united team?

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 08:12

If it's not a "free vote", then they are expected to obey the party "whip". A 3 line whip being the firmest request to follow what the party says. You can get bumped out if the group for ignoring it. Hence the 21 Tories who got dumped by Johnson.
But given that Corbyn's parliamentary career has been marked by refusing to obey the party whip when it suited him, not sure how disciplined Labour will be.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 08:24

My analogy wins.

Another example of why this is such a mess.

Your analogy does ‘win’ just because you say so. It would ‘win’ if it actually made any sense and was representative of the situation.

But it’s utter nonsense

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 08:26

Doesn’t

Parker231 · 13/10/2019 08:45

Boris seems to have dropped the ‘Get Brexit done - leave on 31 October - deal or no deal’ slogan. Perhaps he’s finally realised he needs to obey the Benn Bill.

time4chocolate · 13/10/2019 09:07

You’re not going to get MP’s or the public rallying around a deal which they can see is to their detriment

So MPs doing their utmost to prevent ‘no deal’ are also not going to vote through a deal because it doesn’t look identical to remain with the associated benefits. FFS you couldn’t make it up.

If the above is the case, there is no Benn act or extension out there that is going to help them, we no deal or revoke, the rest is just time wasting (and helping Boris’ cause).

Clowns and circuses spring to mind.

It wouldn't need to look 'identical to remain'. It would only need to look as if wasn't going to be damaging or detrimental to the country I imagine.

Parky04 · 13/10/2019 09:47

The sad thing is is that I have voted in every election since I was 18. I will never vote in an election/referendum again. This whole fiasco has shown me that politicians do not give a rats arse about the people they are meant to represent. They are a bunch of self serving wankers. Unfortunately, it has taken me 30 years to realise this.

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 09:48

At this point is anyone else just immensely grateful that we are not in the euro?

Imagine Shock
