Westminstenders: Pro Rogues

RedToothBrush · 06/10/2019 21:51

The Pro Rogues plan to prorogue again this week.

The Queen might be challenged to sack Johnson. Or he might be forced to extend.

It depends on which newspaper you read. Either way it strikes you that no one really knows what's going to happen...

I'm sure someone's already posted this, but...

@ghostofharrenhal - thank you - that means a lot! It's my little sanctuary. Sorry late response, just catching up.
@TemporaryPermanent - so sorry to hear your very sad newsThanks

kingsassassin · 08/10/2019 14:24

the pictures in the DExEU report are funny. Boris looks stretched and really very podgy, while Gove has a lean and hungry look... Someone's been at the fairground mirrors.

tobee · 08/10/2019 14:25

Sorry sorry pretty.

MockersthefeMANist · 08/10/2019 14:27

Statement in Parliament. We've had Govey saying Manuka honey from NZ will be 15% cheaper. (only fifty quid a spoonful!)

Starmer has just ripped it all to shreds.

tobee · 08/10/2019 14:28

No Deal Readiness Report my arse!

DarlingNikita · 08/10/2019 14:29

Manuka honey from NZ will be 15% cheaper That’s properly sticking it to the wealthy metropolitan elite isn’t it Grin

MockersthefeMANist · 08/10/2019 14:30

Govey is now blaming Starmer for making no plans for No Deal.

dontcallmelen · 08/10/2019 14:31

@Songsofexperience I’m so sorry, it’s sounds a truly for you & dc I hope the situation improves very soon 💐

MockersthefeMANist · 08/10/2019 14:31

Redwood says it's all Merkel's fault.

Outsomnia · 08/10/2019 14:36

What a disgusting image. This debacle is becoming very strange and potentially very dangerous, now that we appear to be in the end game.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 08/10/2019 14:40

OMG @Outsomnia that's appalling. I hate social media for the way it allows such bile to get around.

tobee · 08/10/2019 14:43

I hope Starmer is pointing out the obvious re plans.

That Leave EU image is entirely unsurprising Angry

ImNotYourGranny · 08/10/2019 14:43

Every time I think we've reached the bottom it turns out that no, there's further to go.

thecatfromjapan · 08/10/2019 14:47

Well, Outsomnia, that's pretty grim. ☹️

thecatfromjapan · 08/10/2019 14:47

DGRossetti · 08/10/2019 14:47

Is there a mechanism to complaint to Twitter, if not a UK body ?

Imagine "Jew" for "Kraut" if you need it explaining ....

PostNotInHaste · 08/10/2019 14:47

Well I was going post to ask how much blame you all thought the Germans would get but my question is answered Sad

GothMummy · 08/10/2019 14:48

De lurking to express horror at that leave EU poster.... I am so, so shocked.

RedToothBrush · 08/10/2019 14:48

Tom Newton Dunn @tnewtondunn
Some significant disquiet in Cabinet over No10 aides' attacks on EU leaders in the last 24 hours. I'm told Nicky Morgan complained about the briefing to @JGForsyth and Julian Smith again warned that No Deal would be a disaster for the Union. 1.

One Cabinet minister tells me: "Those of us who believe in a deal and care deeply about Northern Ireland and the Union made our points". And that was before the Merkel call briefing, which none of them saw as all had handed over their phones. 2.

In response to Nicky Morgan’s complaint about briefings in Cabinet, I’m told the PM said to the table, “you shouldn’t believe what you read. You should listen to what I say instead”. A slap down for senior officials doing the briefing?

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages. It's cheered me up.

DuchessDumbarton · 08/10/2019 14:50

Outsomnia I feel so upset. What an awful thing to think let alone publish.

It's becoming more and more similar to the splattering bile of an abusive spouse.

RedToothBrush · 08/10/2019 14:50

Paul Brand@paulbranditv
NEW: Source in ex-Tory rebels:

"It’s now clear what Cummings’ Plan B is: put on a show that you are genuinely pursuing a deal. Then when that inevitably fails, blame the EU, and use it as justification for No Deal, claiming all along that you made a ‘fair and reasonable’ offer.”

...”But there is nothing fair or reasonable about the offer from No10. It is a sham ‘deal'...No10’s focus is not on negotiations, it’s on blame. They want to drag UK into a No Deal Brexit - blaming the EU for not engaging with their ‘deal'. But in reality there is no ‘deal’."

head banging table

It's like reading history but pretending it's news the rebels are so slow off the mark.

kingsassassin The "accidental" Kinnock amendment means that the PM is required to state that
the reason for requesting an extension from the EU is to pass the Withdrawal Agreement Bill Grin

As time runs out, even if this is during the next extension,
reports are that many Tory MPs, even some Cabinet ministers, would try to force the WA through, in a last ditch attempt to stop No Deal.

It depends on what else happens during an extension, e.g. calling a GE would probably stop any serious attempt at the WA

RedToothBrush · 08/10/2019 14:51

Nigel Farage @Nigel_Farage
No British Government could ever accept Germany telling us that part of the UK has to stay in the EU.

The choice now is clear: A clean break Brexit, or stay in a new militarised empire.

Time to choose freedom.
