Westministenders: Conference Cult

Is it over yet?

The Tory Party Conference is in full swing in the Manchester Rain, and is proving to be its usual fun.

Johnson is caught up in all sorts of allegations of abuses of power - the non-declaration of his "friendship" to a busty blonde whom was getting a large tax payer grant, and then there the Odey question after his sister said he was under the control of the Hedge Funders.

And thats before we talk about the 40 hospitals, his provocative language and how many times he can say the word surrender.

There is lots of distancing from Lyton Crosby. And accusations that Johnson has gone 'rogue' only listening to the wisdom of Cummings and Symonds.

The Queen apparently has asked for advice as to under what circumstance she can dismiss a PM.

AND NO ONE IS EVEN TALKING ABOUT A DEAL.

The Mail had a story earlier this morning that JRM would be going to HMQ before this weekend to ask her to prorogue ahead of a Queen's Speech.

Can't find it now though Confused

MockersthefeMANist · 02/10/2019 08:28

I see our local Brexit Party Candidate has had to apologise for Tweets stating that "Traitors" like Lady Hale, Gina Miller and Yvette Cooper will be "Purged"

Sostenueto · 02/10/2019 08:29

Even Cummings knows its law that the leader of the opposition is only one that can form an interim government. That was the real plan of his! Why are people going on about other people leading an interim government? They can't by law!

kingsassassin · 02/10/2019 08:31

It was in the Times too @BoreOfWhabylon. Aiming for prorogation from Tuesday of next week for the queens speech. It's the more normal 3 days but does mean that utter coward can skip PMQs again....

Apileofballyhoo · 02/10/2019 08:34

Great summary by math anxiety. I also forgot to add that Fine Gael currently have a minority government propped up by none other than Fianna Fáil in a confidence and supply type arrangement. Unthinkable in the past, and many hope it's the end of Civil War politics. I believe there is an agreement in place to keep stability because of Brexit and not hold a GE, I'm not sure the government would have lasted as long otherwise.

Regarding that proposed resolution in the US - what does that mean legally? Does it have to pass something?

Bellini I'm not and wasn't saying Fine Gael are or were West Brits, just pointing out that they would be anxious to avoid any situation where that could be thrown at them.

kingsassassin · 02/10/2019 08:35

There's nothing in the FTPA to require anyone in particular to become prime minister - it is anyone who can command the confidence of the house and confirm that to the Queen within 14 days of a VONC.

Sostenueto · 02/10/2019 08:40

We are done for. There is no way out now. Scuppered completely. All because party comes before country. I will never, ever vote again. No one is worthy of my vote. No one and no party.
I am going to concentrate on helping my dgd to study for pre interview exams for Cambridge which she takes on the 30th October. And nothing, even Brexshit , is more important to me.
Hopefully, one day, if there is a planet left, she will be able to make a difference for humanity in some way. But I owe her an apology for the state of democracy in this country, for the state of the planet and for the state of humanity that will affect her future and millions like her.....

Sostenueto · 02/10/2019 08:42

Don't worry king they will never get a majority for anyone as an interim leader. This Parliament and all future ones will always put party and themselves first.

Sostenueto · 02/10/2019 08:46

I'm off to prepare for a no deal Brexit. And here's my prep.....CakeBrewWineGinFlowers

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/10/2019 08:56

kingsassassin Thank you, I think it was The Times I saw it in after all, not the Mail!

That's what comes of skimming around the news sites when sleep-deprived.

ImNotYourGranny · 02/10/2019 09:22

James Cleverly has said today that the UK has been pragmatic and flexible in the negotiations so far and it is now up to the EU to demonstrate that they can be flexible too. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how the UK has been flexible to date. Can anyone give an example of this?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 02/10/2019 09:23

Surely any prorogation will end up back in court after the last attempt? HMQ might say no after being lied to last time.

TheElementsSong · 02/10/2019 09:27

Seeing as my hair is on fire, I would definitely accept Corbyn as a caretaker PM.

At the same time I still think Corbyn was a fucking useless fence-sitting courgette for 3 years, whose Cunning Plan. effectively allowed what was a pile of smouldering embers to catch and be spread by the Brexit-arsonists into the towering inferno we have now.

No doubt my perception of Magic Grandad is due to my inferior understanding of the Cunning Plan, I willingly put my hands up to this.

So the upshot is that I admit would prefer somebody else without the baggage, to lead a GNU. But because my hair is on fire, yes I would accept Corbyn with a heavy heart, because frankly I'd accept a fucking courgette at this stage.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/10/2019 09:29

I would question why they need a Queen’s speech now given that this Parliament is unlikely to last much longer before a GE.

kingsassassin · 02/10/2019 09:30

Because BJ is too fucking frightened to turn up to PMQs and they're running out of excuses?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/10/2019 09:34

lonelyplanetmum · 02/10/2019 09:36

I'd like to see a PMQ response to the US House of Representatives motion.

Or a Farage JRM response would do.

Or I'd like to hear from the now deposed Liam Fox. All those years of complete sycophancy to a share in the American dream, that he couldn't pull off.

DGRossetti · 02/10/2019 09:36

Maybe the fall in house prices will start to make some people have their doubts ...

QueenOfThorns · 02/10/2019 09:44

Maybe the fall in house prices will start to make some people have their doubts ...

Or maybe dear Clav will be along shortly to copy and paste something designed to convince us that house prices would’ve fallen anyway Smile

Rhubarbisevil · 02/10/2019 09:49

The house price crash will be excellent news for our young people to get onto the housing ladder.

Oh. No they can’t. Because there won’t be any fucking jobs for them Angry

SaireyDog · 02/10/2019 09:55

I wonder if The Queen will tell him to fuck off with his prorogue after last time!

prettybird · 02/10/2019 10:13

So BJ is avoiding PMQs again today (he could have changed the time of his speech Hmm to allow him to get back in time) and rumours are that he'll avoid next week's PMQs via a prorogation for the Queen's Speech.

So that would mean that in the nearly 3 months since becoming PM, he would have done PMQs a whole once Hmm

Inniu · 02/10/2019 10:13

HMQ could just be washing her hair when ReesMogg arrives this time
