You’re really not getting that the Referendum has no legal standing

Notice to leave EU was served under Article 50. It has legal standing

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 14:17

Am I going to do any of those things? The hell I am. So you can fuck right off with your "yes, you do have to accept

So you are one of 16.1 million who think minority vote should prevail?

jasjas1973 · 04/10/2019 14:23

....if BJ gets away with lie after lie, in his roles as husband, partner, journalist, Mayor, MP and Prime Minister, then no one has to respect an opinion poll he had anything to do with.

Not only does he lie to the Queen, he then lies to all of us with his Dead in a Ditch statement.

Do leavers not have the wisdom to wonder what else he is/has lied about?

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 14:25

I don't think the vote was won because the argument was "more convincing." It was won because it played to people's prejudices

Impossible to know for certain, but I would say key factors for the leave result were;

EU commissioners not elected

Immigration out of control

UK is third largest donor to EU, but has a huge trade deficit with EU. So UK loses both ways

National pride. So; Brussels, France and Germany can go away.

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 14:29

Can you name a politician who does not lie?

Do leavers not have the wisdom to wonder what else he is/has lied about?

Leavers want to leave. It’s what they voted for.

Deal is better than no deal.

Likewise;

No deal is better than no Brexit

BillywilliamV · 04/10/2019 14:32

Most people voted for Brexit because they were faintly annoyed that there was a Polish aisle in Tesco..pure and simple!

bellinisurge · 04/10/2019 14:54

You can't lie to a court. You can lie to everyone else all the time but if you lie to a court - and everyone hears you do it, you go to prison for contempt. I am assuming there is the same/similar process in a Scottish court if someone perjures themselves.
So who has Johnson lied to?

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 14:55

Most people voted for Brexit because they were faintly annoyed that there was a Polish aisle in Tesco..pure and simple

Few flaws in that logic.

If leave voters are all thickhead northern benefit scroungers wouldn’t they shop at Lidl and Aldi, etc?

Likewise if remain voters are all highly intelligent with well paid jobs would they not shop at Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Marks and Spencer?

twofingerstoEverything · 04/10/2019 14:57

Can you name a politician who does not lie?

Can you name one who lies to the same extent, who plotted to have a journalist beaten up, who refers to people with 'piccaninny smiles' and compares them to 'letterboxes'.

How keen you are to defend him! One wonders why. Been hoodwinked into loving him because he aligns with your own bias?

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:02

@bellinisurge

Wait for the legal challenge that is coming. I am not allowed to give anything away, but there are many laws in UK that go back centuries that have never been overturned.

Remember the 400 year old law that Bercow found?

How did you get that from Billywilliam's post. They called no-one thickhhead northern benefit scrounger. You have a very limited view of the world, don't you, mystery?

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:09

Can you name one who lies to the same extent

Yes. Everyone of them.

How keen you are to defend him! One wonders why

When a leader asks their troops to vote when there is a difference of opinion, they will follow the majority vote if they are a good leader. Bad leaders will ignore. Hence they cease to be leaders as nobody votes for them again.

Theresa May good example. Her attempt to hide the attorney general advice on the WA was reason she had to step down.

Corbyn faces same. Labour said they would honour the referendum result on page 24 of their manifesto. Now they are a remain party and currently third in opinion polls.

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:12

Post was not only referring to Billywilliam, but to others post on MN and other boards

jasjas1973 · 04/10/2019 15:15

Bercow used parliamentary procedure not a 400 year old law... get your facts right.
How pompous are you? "not in a position to say..." lol!

The courts do not look favorably on ancient law being used to circumvent modern law.

Nutjobby · 04/10/2019 15:16

They don’t have to explain their decision.
Sure, they don't HAVE to. But indulge us. Tell us why you voted to leave. Better yet, tell us why you voted to leave without going "See, that's why leavers don't post on Mumsnet- all the nasty remainers are mean to us." When someone points out the flaws in the reason you cite.

After all, the entire country's being dragged through this shit and I'd quite like to know what benefits there'll be in a few decades time if/when they've managed to sort it out.

AuldAlliance · 04/10/2019 15:16

National pride. So; Brussels, France and Germany can go away.

This sums Leavers' thinking up, really.

Where can/should they go away to?

What does "national" pride mean, when not all UK countries voted the same way?
How will "national" pride be satisfied when the UK breaks up and some of the countries, which hold key resources, also "go away", while the rUK economy flounders?
Will "national" pride be satisfied by a return to bloody civil conflict in Ireland?

twofingerstoEverything · 04/10/2019 15:20

I am not allowed to give anything away
Grin Grin Grin
Are you an important personage then?

twofingerstoEverything · 04/10/2019 15:21

You are a wag.

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:22

And what other old parliamentary procedures are lurking? What old laws going back centuries that have never been changed and hence still effective?

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:30

What does "national" pride mean, when not all UK countries voted the same way

UK is a single member of EU. Hence it’s the overall result that is effective.

How will "national" pride be satisfied when the UK breaks up and some of the countries, which hold key resources, also "go away", while the rUK economy flounders?

What key resources do other members of UK have?

Will "national" pride be satisfied by a return to bloody civil conflict in Ireland?

If people on the island of Ireland can’t be neighbours and live with each other, that does not provide a veto over UK leaving EU.

Voila212 · 04/10/2019 15:32

Oh Mystery if only Britain had remained in its own country those hundreds of years ago and not tried to control Ireland then things would have been so much easier for Boris. the irony...

MysteryTripAgain · 04/10/2019 15:36

I am not allowed to give anything away means I haven't googled it yet😂😂

Benn Act applies to UK, but not EU.

Article 50 states no deal is a possibility.

The Benn Act does not change EU law.
