It will be nice to hear about something else on the news Grin

HerSymphonyAndSong · 20/09/2019 21:41

I think that’s a bit optimistic sadly Smiled - any form of brexit will dominate the news for years (no deal in particular of course)

Andante57 · 20/09/2019 23:13

and a payment can be made from birth.
Smile do you have some evidence for this? I’m not sure what the point would be as it would make no difference to the chances of getting a place.

Schools admissions definitely have changed over the last 40 years. We did register ours with the school from about 2 years old, and that was it as far as I recall. No forms listing 3 or 6 preferences. But I think it did change not long after - sometime in the 80s. When a whole load of big reforms started to come in - National Curriculum, SATS plus INSET days, Local Management of Schools. Although LMS was early 90s.

But this isn't really Brexit.

INeedAFlerken · 21/09/2019 11:44

I registered my youngest at a top nursery/preschool I wanted her to attend in the area, where her brothers went, when she was 2 days old. DId it as we picked her brother up on the way home from hospital with her.

This was in 2009.

It does happen.

Helmetbymidnight · 21/09/2019 11:55

maybe in some areas not in most.

BertrandRussell · 21/09/2019 11:59

Nursery/pre school yes.

State Primary school, which is what we’re talking about? Nope.

To get back on topic. It is ok because you know the war and rationing, we survived two world wars and rationing so it will be great. Aspirations people, it will be worth it cos we get our freedom back.

I'm guessing though 'mate' that not only did you not 'survive' the war you were born many years after it. You also therefore have no idea of the reality of rationing. And having looked at your FB profile you are in fact the absolute stereotype of a Leaver and it is beyond appalling that the MP is bigging you up.

(FWIW I too was born many years after the war, my Mum was born in 1944, she clearly remembers rationing so I am aware that it wasn't a time that we should aspire to)

I've wondered about this very question. Still no further enlightenment about how the average Brit will be better off. One thing will make my life better is not having to watch or listen to Ann W. or Nige or the other Brexit party MEP's in the EU parliament anymore. That's got to be something.

WeshMaGueule · 22/09/2019 07:14

Tell you who'll be a lot worse off and who get even less airtime that Northern Ireland - Gibraltar. But there are only 35,000 of them, so fuck 'em eh?

Peregrina · 22/09/2019 07:21

And absolutely no one can pretend that really Gibraltar wants to Leave - not with a 96% vote in favour of Remain.

CactusAndCacti · 22/09/2019 09:12

I have just had a look at some of the Leave means Leave FB profiles. It is certainly an eye opener, and actually at times nonsensical, they want to leave to get out of the holds of Europe, but happy to think the US is great, the government is fab at getting everything sorted whilst at the same time businesses are showing what they can achieve without the stronghold.

If you make sense of that, well done.

I just despair.

(For those leavers that have openish FB profiles you can play a great game of leavers bingo)

Dongdingdong · 23/09/2019 22:51

I might learn how to forage mushrooms, nettles and road kill.

I’m assuming this comment is tongue in cheek, but you never can tell on the Brexit board. Roadkill Grin
