bert I obviously can't list each law as there are a staggering 50,000 laws that have come from the EU directive since 1990 (I work in the judiciary) so have witnessed this for decades.”
I didn’t ask you to list them all. How about the 3 you find most egregious?

Protection of rights to annual leave etc.

Do check our Mr. Grassyknoll's link, because he didn't read it before posting and actually most people will think it provides some positive reasons to remain, not to leave!

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 08:23

Positive reasons to remain

Not tanking the economy unnecessarily
Enjoying all the benefits of being within the worlds largest and most powerful trading block
Ensuring UK citizen's access to Europe's wide and varied labour market
Protection of workers rights
Membership of key EU bodies
Ensuring freedom of movement for UK citizens
Not tearing up agreements with our key trading partners
Like minded allies as we watch China/Russia/India become more powerful on the world stage and the US become more protectionist.
Minimizing the threat to peace in Northern Ireland
Minimizing the likelihood of the UK breaking up

I could go on Hmm

mindproject · 19/09/2019 08:26

When I lose my job I might have a short period of happiness not going to work every day, until my savings run out. I am slightly looking forward to that because my job is soul destroying. Other than that, I don't think my life will be better in any way.

Thegrasscouldbegreeener · 19/09/2019 08:37

I asked for positives laurie except one or two, you have given me a whole list of NEGATIVES again!!

Not tanking the economy unnecessarily - NEGATIVE
Enjoying all the benefits of being within the worlds largest and most powerful trading block - IT IS NEGATIVE BECAUSE IT IS FAILING
Ensuring UK citizen's access to Europe's wide and varied labour market - POSITIVE
Protection of workers rights WE HAVE THOSE ANYWAY- THE EU USED BRITISH LAWS
Membership of key EU bodies NEGATIVE THERE ARE NO KEY BODIES?!
Ensuring freedom of movement for UK citizens NEGATIVE AS WE HAVE TO ENSURE THERE IS FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT HERE.
Not tearing up agreements with our key trading partners NEGATIVE IT STOPS US MAKING OUR OWN VERY PROFITABLE DEALS
Like minded allies as we watch China/Russia/India become more powerful on the world stage and the US become more protectionist. NEGATIVE - WAR MONGERING
Minimizing the threat to peace in Northern Ireland NEGATIVE AGAIN WAR MONGERING
Minimizing the likelihood of the UK breaking up NEGATIVE AGAIN. SCOTLAND IS MORE LIKELY TO STAY IN THE UNION IF WE LEAVE. YOU SHOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH IN THIS AREA

You see from your list there is literally one or two positives at best. This huge long list does not exist.

The only real positive is being able to live and work in the EU, well you can do that anyway with a contract! When I asked for positives I mean positives not doomed laden negatives and war mongering.

I am talking about real positives, benefits to us as a nation. We are sure as hell paying enough to have more than the ones you have listed surely!

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 08:43

You see from your list there is literally one or two positives at best. This huge long list does not exist

Well there are obvious negatives with leaving. Which are also positives to staying.

But as the saying goes, you can’t argue with stupid.

I’m in the ROI, so I’ll enjoy all the enormous benefits of being in the worlds most powerful trading block. Also as I’ve lots of links with the UK, it’s helpful that you guys continue to tank the pound.

And I guess you better hope Mr Putin plays nice Wink

Parker231 · 19/09/2019 08:45

Thegrass - your comments are ridiculous. Freedom of trade and movement of people are essential as is protecting the GFA.

The UK’s ability to do good deals post Brexit is very limited due to the most favoured nations agreements already in place with non EU countries.

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 08:48

Answer me this someone.

Why would any 3rd country give a more favourable trade deal to the UK compared to the EU? The UK are a minnow in comparison to the worlds largest trading block.

It makes no sense.

Thegrasscouldbegreeener · 19/09/2019 08:53

Bert

There are many laws I am looking forward to axing from the EU, to name a few:

The EU impose that all countries adhere to VAT set at 15% this is not always agreeable, I am thinking of the tampon tax etc which we know affects thousands of women each year. We could also see Gas and Electricity being VAT free altogether, which would help those on lower incomes. I think an independent nation should be able to choose its own VAT personally.

The obvious one is the fisheries. Our fisherman will legally be able to fish in our own waters without the onslaught of every other EU nation. This would revive our seaside towns that have been languishing now for decades.

The laws surrounding the financial services and regulations. This would improve the UK's competitiveness in this area, and also mean we would see the best minds return to the UK.

Child benefits are given to EU citizens even though their children do not even live here, we will be able to change.

I could honestly go on...

Bearbehind · 19/09/2019 08:54

Truth is on our side and this is the difference between leave and remain.

That is literally the funniest Brexit comment I’ve ever read.

It couldn’t be further from the truth.

Thegrasscouldbegreeener · 19/09/2019 08:56

Laurie So, I take it you definitely don't have this long list to provide all the positives to remain. No, I didn't think so. Why? Because there aren't any and that has been the problem all along with your campaign.

It is a campaign of broken negativity and pessimism, and there you have it as clear as day.

There is no positive case to remain.

Parker231 · 19/09/2019 08:57

smallbusinessprices.co.uk/remain-eu/

There aren’t benefits in leaving.

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 08:57

Yes, VAT on tampons. Annoying I know, but worth tanking the economy, risking disruption to food/vital medicines, jeopardising peace in N.I., restricting UK access to EU job market?

Fucking seriously?

I guess the heart has its reasons Confused

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 08:58

i take it you definitely don't have this long list to provide all the positives to remain. No, I didn't think so.

I gave you a long list.

If you’re too intellectually challenged to absorb it, that’s hardly my fault now is it?

NameChangeNugget · 19/09/2019 09:00

There are no benefits in leaving whatsoever

Thegrasscouldbegreeener · 19/09/2019 09:00

Mr. Grassyknoll's link, because he didn't read it before posting

Typical remain post, immediately insulting, because you can't win the argument with facts, you instantly sink to the lowest level of being rude and insulting.

I did read my link of course, it was used to illustrate the number of laws from the EU. Of course most have been transferred over now, and yes it was an onerous task one would imagine given the number.

But it is now done you will be happy to know mist

AuldAlliance · 19/09/2019 09:01

Minimizing the likelihood of the UK breaking up NEGATIVE AGAIN. SCOTLAND IS MORE LIKELY TO STAY IN THE UNION IF WE LEAVE. YOU SHOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH IN THIS AREA

Could you provide your research on this?

Thegrasscouldbegreeener · 19/09/2019 09:06

I am already bored, and going over this again is not good for anyone.

We are leaving in a few weeks. There is no point going over it all again. We have all had enough, and heard it all before.
The only way to stop the remain fretting is for the UK to be out and then you can see for yourself it is good, great even, and then we can relax into the future peoples. I can't say more than that.

We won the biggest vote in the UK's history, we did so because enough people have had enough of the EU commission. Enough people were sick and tired of every aspect of it. We can't rewind and we can't go back, we can only go forward.

Have some confidence in our great country for once, show some backbone and stop for heavens sake whinging. We are all sick of your whinging.

3dogs2cats · 19/09/2019 09:08

I have all sorts of negatives, but the most worrying prospect for me was a return to the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Happily, it seems the people of NI think the same and also don’t mind a backstop that treats them differently to the rest of us. So the DUP, as I understand it, may have laid the groundwork for an end to sectarian politics, and , possibly a united Ireland.

Parker231 · 19/09/2019 09:09

We aren’t necessarily leaving next month. No deal has been agreed and the Benn Bill is in place.

If the UK does leave what are your suggestions for supply chain in the manufacturing industry particularly the motor industry? How will you protect the GFA? How will you make deals with countries who already have the most favoured nation clauses in place?

BunchMunch · 19/09/2019 09:09

Sorry to derail slightly but do Scottish Pro independence supporters see any difficulties ahead in their separation from the union?

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 09:10

Ah back to ‘we won’, ‘show faith’ ‘quit whinging’

Debate at its finest.

Never change brexiteers, never change Hmm

Mistigri · 19/09/2019 09:21

"The EU impose that all countries adhere to VAT set at 15% this is not always agreeable"

Well now we know that the claims to work in law are bollocks because no lawyer would make such a rookie error.

jasjas1973 · 19/09/2019 09:23

Don't get the VAT argument, rates go up, successive govts could have cut vat to 15% years ago but have not.

Any tax cut means higher taxes somewhere else OR worse services, efficiencies only go so far and its not enough.

As for fishing, there aren't enough fish to rejuvenate coastal communities, which is why uk boat owners sold quotas and scrapped boats.

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 09:25

Isn’t fishing less than 0.1% of the UK economy anyway?

It sure gets a lot of headspace from brexiteers given how small it is.
