So, why hasn't the govt published a "Songbird report" stating the list of benefits

They did that in 2016 when they sent the leaflet to every household in the UK stating the benefits of being in the EU and the disadvantages of leaving. Cost the Taxpayer 9 MIllion pounds.

SingingLily · 09/09/2019 09:31

I read it, cover to cover. And still voted Leave.

Drop in the ocean compared to Gove’s Β£100 million campaign to prepare the UK for the no deal.

But 9 million spent in Remain projects three years ago are still more expensive than what the government spends on No Deal preparations. It's Johnson's magic money tree where money isn't real money if it is spent on Leaver fantasy.

Mystery

I guess you are being deliberately obtuse, we cannot re-run the 2016 campaign.

Lets have the benefits of leaving report...... not all this negativity from Boris and the problems of leaving with no-deal.

Me too. My parents had decided to vote leave before the leaflet arrived.

That is also a drop in the ocean compared to what UK pays into the EU each week.

Ok your plan please to convince the EU to let us stay, what are you expecting to happen from the extention?
What no real answers....ok no deal please.

Lets have the benefits of leaving report

Benefits of leave were presented by the leave campaign via media as opposed to reports.

Had leave campaign had the advantage of remain being able to send leaflets to every household in the UK the leave majority might have been larger?

Agree Mummy2017, any extension must have a purpose, a GE or a completely new set of negotiations.

An can kicking extension is pointless.

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2019 09:47

But the Govt can write a new report on the very significant problems of leaving but not one on the benefits of leaving.......

bellinisurge · 09/09/2019 09:47

And, I forgot that in the Johnson magic money tree economy, money we get back for infrastructure projects isn't money (every major infrastructure project I saw on holiday in S Wales was EU funded).
And peace and prosperity in EEurope isn't worth spending money on but armed stand offs that I grew up with are definitely a better way to spend money.
That's No Dealer economics. It's great if you don't think too hard.

Excellent question.

What no real answers....ok no deal please

Exactly. What is the point of an extension if WA can't be re-opened? All that happens is the can goes a bit further down the road. When the can is reached further down the road you are in same position as that now. So what is the benefit?

Johnson is softening you lot up to accept an NI only backstop. His All Ireland livestock plan is just the starter.
You'll all be faking love for an NI only backstop soon enough in order to Leave on 31 October.

Because many in Govt are remain supporters. Look how quickly they can change the law when it suits their personal agenda.

EU have stated that WA can't be re-opened. So how does the NI backstop become part of the WA?

Even if WA was changed, will the DUP and ERG accept an NI only backstop?

Because many in Govt are remain supporters

Rubbish!

The cabinet is predominately pro brexit and could order the civil service to write a benefits of leaving report, they have chosen not to, instead to spend Β£100m on a "get ready for brexit" advertising campaign.
No positivity at all.

The DIP and ERG don't matter anymore with no majority.

Any WA has to be passed by parliament regardless of whether government has a majority. T May would that out the hard way. Her WA was knocked back three times even though she had a majority government.

So why bring up the old trope of the cost of Cameron’s leaflets?

And if you want to compare to the cost of EU membership then you can also compare it to the Β£600 million per week that Brexit has cost the UK since June 2016.

For someone who doesn't like to re run the 2016 vote, you are not consistent at all lol!

Any ministers who voted remain in 2016 were purged or have have seen the light of brexit! all i am asking is why they have not written a benefits of brexit report but have no problem writing some very negative ones.

The conclusion is that even they do not see what they may be.
