I just hope BJ doesn't kick Larry the cat when he gets home tonight.

BishopofBathandWells · 03/09/2019 19:38

Right, try that again without the revealing personal info! There's a lot of emphasis being put on the fact that Johnson is about the remove the whip from Nicholas Soames. That's not a great look for the PM, is it?

OMG - Johnson just lost his majority whilst in full flow of his speech
PeriComoToes · 03/09/2019 19:42

Surely an MP has no right to defect to another political party (A) when he was voted in by the constituents on the basis that he was a representative of a particular party (B)?

I mean, I'm glad Boris has lost his majority but it seems a bit 'unconstitutional' to defect.

Weezol · 03/09/2019 19:44

Good point Fekko.

Nat6999 If Boris kicks Larry, I expect the last sounds Boris will ever hear is one of Larry's extended claws tapping his sleeping eyelid at 4am...

Manontry · 03/09/2019 19:45

What will happen if Labour win a GE and don't leave the EU?

What a disaster thst would be.

Nigel Farage would be the next pm.

MockersthefeMANist · 03/09/2019 20:16

Labour cannot possibly gain a majority. There will be a GNU, and just like in 1940 when Labour refused to serve under Chamberlain, someone else will have to be PM. There will then be two Conservative parties, just like in 1931 there were two Labour parties and three Liberal parties.

MarshaBradyo · 03/09/2019 20:20

Ah I’m sorry I missed that
Need to catch up with the news dammit

origamiunicorn · 03/09/2019 20:22

I hope there isn't an election. Corbyn would win I think and he is an utter eejit. He'd turn the UK into some communist hell and completely strip our country of any armed forces and defence we have left Angry

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 20:25

He’d be better than the current PM. He certainly was this afternoon.

Mistigri · 03/09/2019 20:33

An MP is elected to represent their constituents (not just their supporters, nor even just voters, but all constituents). They don't need to be a member of a party to do this.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 03/09/2019 20:40

Oh, good grief.

Do you even understand what actual communism is?

Really, this nonsense is embarrassing to read.

jasjas1973 · 03/09/2019 20:40

@origamiunicorn

Have you read the Labour party manifesto?
Even just a little bit of it?

The last Labour government consistently spent above the NATO benchmark of 2 per cent of GDP. Conservative spending cuts have put Britain’s security at risk, shrinking the army to its smallest size since the Napoleonic wars. The scrapping of Nimrod, HMS Ark Royal and the Harrier jump-jets have weakened our defences and cost British taxpayers millions
Labour’s commitment to spending at least 2 per cent of GDP on defence will guarantee that our Armed Forces have the necessary capabilities to fulfil the full range of obligations, and ensure our conventional forces are versatile and able to deploy in a range of roles

The MSM portray JC as some sort of Stalin, reality is he is a little to the left of centre in european terms.

berlinbabylon · 03/09/2019 20:41

It only matters if you live in an area where anything with a certain colour rosette is voted for, regardless of how horrible/ineffectual an individual the candidate is. If people vote for a decent candidate it shouldn't really matter what party they are part of.

origamiunicorn · 03/09/2019 20:48

I've read it but I don't believe it. Everything he actually says in person tells me he believes otherwise too.

needmorespace · 03/09/2019 20:59

in what way would corbyn turn the country in to a communist hell?
stop talking shite

Deathgrip · 03/09/2019 21:10

I've read it but I don't believe it. Everything he actually says in person tells me he believes otherwise too.

Such as? I am seeing so much completely unsubstantiated nonsense being thrown around.

We’ve had 9 years of the tories and they have done an abysmal job. We are so much worse off as a country by so many metrics than when we came to power. How can anyone possibly think that they deserve another few years? We’ve seen how damaging their policies are.

jasjas1973 · 03/09/2019 21:11

Thats your prerogative but JC is not the Labour party, he has to carry conference and his own party with him, as Johnson is now finding out, a leader is not a dictator, well, at least not yet.

His own personal view is he would like to scrap Trident and spend more on conventional forces, especially cyber warfare.

Manontry · 03/09/2019 21:52

I think the brexit party will win so many votes if theres a GE

awful.

BeardedMum · 03/09/2019 21:56

I am not a Jc fan but think he performed well in the commons tonight. I am comparing him to JRM and BJ tho...🤷🏻‍♀️

Does anyone else think Bj looks ill ?

DarkAtEndOfUK · 03/09/2019 23:08

Mockers those precedents are from horribly ill-omened times.

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 23:11

The brexit party will win lots of votes becsuse people want to leave the eu and they have been tactically voting for years!

The mps chatting are in total disconect with what people want.

Have ge.

HighNetGirth · 03/09/2019 23:11

Interesting to see how BJ performed in this fast-moving, intense situation. Not at all well. You can’t wing everything.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer man.

DarkAtEndOfUK · 03/09/2019 23:18

They're in total connect with what people want Autumn - divided, led by party loyalty/ propaganda over the country's welfare. Very clearly anti-no-deal, many remainers who would very reluctantly appease the brexiteers with a soft Brexit, but not actually in any agreement about anything much at all.

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 23:25

Retainers can vote tactically @Autumnintheair.
