Autumnintheair - if indeed individual companies just 'went for it' without due diligence I think there would be much litigation in the following years and they would be potentially be making charges of corporate manslaughter possible.

Parker231 · 03/09/2019 10:00

Taxes will go up significantly with the Tory party as well with the commitments they have given regarding the NHS, prison services, police, schools. No details of how it is to be paid for?

Frankiestein402 · 03/09/2019 10:28

At the last election Labour was the only party with a costed manifesto. There is no reason they would not have the same in the next election.
Boris mob on the other hand....

I guess they'll still claim that Labour will bring chaos - brassed face cheek is part and parcel of their appeal to masochists.

mummmy2017 · 03/09/2019 10:38

So labour intend to force a sale of various companies, then use the money we pay for these services to fund things.
So if they don't have enough money will they steal ...oh sorry but more companies on the cheap.

lalag · 03/09/2019 14:11

pokes head through the door** I'm new here πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Is this the safe space for Brexiteers?

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 14:20

Random, due diligence is not what parliament has been getting on with.

People are not stupid it's simply been obfuscation and hoping those thickos go away...

The plain facts are brexit party aligned with tories will win.

All latest litmus polls have shown that.

Dapplegrey · 03/09/2019 14:22

Is this the safe space for Brexiteers

Not really ........sadly

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 14:24

πŸ˜‚ Welcome lalag!

If you don't Mind the usual insults etc then sort of..

Stoic123 · 03/09/2019 14:44

64 days to go? How on earth can anyone think no deal will be the end of it? It will be the beginning of at least a decade of scrabbling around trying to do trade negotiations with everyone else (including the EU) when they know that we’ll be desperate for a deal. Never a strong negotiating position.

Scrabbling around to try and get back some of the trade advantages we currently enjoy while enduring economic uncertainty and difficulties. What a pointless and costly exercise - all because of some rabble-rousing and empty promises from a bunch of very rich, self-serving charlatans.

bellinisurge · 03/09/2019 14:46

Safe space for anyone who is happy to explain why it's all fiiiiiine (if asked Grin)

Parker231 · 03/09/2019 15:09

I don’t think BJ is going to get votes to push for a no deal on 31 October - hopefully it will never happen!

lalag · 03/09/2019 20:08

Thanks for the kinda warm welcome. So it appears there are both sides represented on here?

I have a question then: why on earth would you want to be part of a club that takes your hard-earned money and gives it to irresponsible members? I.e. bailing out Greece time and again. The same Greece who for years their citizens enjoyed early retirement and lose tax laws.
So while you're breaking your back at 50 on the factory floor, your mate in Greece is sipping red wine on his sun lounger.
Doesn't sound like a club I want to be part of. So why do you?

lalag · 03/09/2019 20:12

@Stoic123 a bunch of very rich, self-serving charlatans.

I thought all Brexiteers were 'poor and uneducated'. So which is it, rich people or poor people? I can't keep up.

ContinuityError · 03/09/2019 20:30

I have a question then: why on earth would you want to be part of a club that takes your hard-earned money and gives it to irresponsible members? I.e. bailing out Greece time and again.

Simples. The UK, as a non member, does not bail out Eurozone members.

lalag · 03/09/2019 20:44

Ok, so can you be sure that, if Parliament gets its way and we remain in the EU, that at some point in the future the government of the day decides we should join the Eurozone?

lalag · 03/09/2019 20:46

Bloody hell wish there was an edit function on here Hmm
I mean, can you be sure they won't decide to join the eurozone.

ContinuityError · 03/09/2019 20:48

Why would the UK join the Eurozone? The UK has always been very reluctant to give up Sterling.

Anyway, since the UK has never bailed out Greece, it makes your β€œpoor downtrodden UK worker” vs β€œGreek layabout sipping red wine” look a bit daft, doesn’t it?

jasjas1973 · 03/09/2019 20:52

So while you're breaking your back at 50 on the factory floor, your mate in Greece is sipping red wine on his sun lounger

Johnson and his mates want the retirement age to rise to 75, so i wouldn't build up your hopes.

By stopping countries economies failing, building them up to be successful, we create export markets, keep their workers in their own countries and make the continent more stable, long term it is a win win for everyone.

twofingerstoEverything · 03/09/2019 22:20

So while you're breaking your back at 50 on the factory floor, your mate in Greece is sipping red wine on his sun lounger

This sounds very similar to the bollocks that's been doing the rounds on the Brexit fanboys' and girls' SM pages, which claims that Poland has lowered the retirement age from 67 to 60 using our money, while the UK pension age goes up and up. Prejudice + Victim Mentality + Gullibility + Lack of Critical Thinking all wrapped up together and regurgitated ad infinitum.

twofingerstoEverything · 03/09/2019 22:24

Johnson defeated in Parliament. Back of the net!

lalag · 03/09/2019 22:31

@ContinuityError but you do know that George Osborne did commit hundreds of millions of UK taxpayers money to an EU bailout fund to give emergency loans to Greece? Despite not being a Eurozone member and despite a previous agreement that the EU would never expose the UK to Eurozone bailouts. Sure, that money was ring-fenced in the event of a default but only because Osborne was pretty alright chancellor.
How long till the EU come knocking on our door again asking for funds to bailout another EU country 'because we are part of the EU' or under the guise of an EU-wide stabilisation fund (as opposed to a Eurozone-only fund) and this time no guarantees of getting our money back in the event of a default.
And the UK has not always been reluctant to give up Sterling. There were plenty of people on the other side arguing to join the euro.

SistemaAddict · 03/09/2019 22:35

Oh happy day! "Not a good start Boris!" 🀣🀣🀣

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 22:42

Perhaps if rich self servicing charletons across the eu had handled yet another live people experiment with planning for sight ... We would never have been forced into ever closer union. AND we might be happy toddling along...

ContinuityError · 03/09/2019 22:44

How long till the EU come knocking on our door again asking for funds to bailout another EU country 'because we are part of the EU' or under the guise of an EU-wide stabilisation fund

Because that one was of the agreements that Cameron negotiated in 2015.

If any general EU funds that the UK had paid into were used for bail outs, then the UK would be recompensed.

Brexiters like to crow that Cameron completely failed in 2015, but fail themselves to comprehend the significance of what he did achieve.
