Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

your country of origin/ the EU will not be able to help you as a British citizen in the UK

?

They would to those seeking political/humanitarian asylum.

Human Rights have only been asserted, established and maintained through collective international actions and treaties.

Hence the Belfast Agreement and the collective strength of 27 nation states (and the Pelosi Posse) defending it.

@GynaeExpert
I have just been advised by our Pharmacy Team at KIMS that there is now an @DHSCgovuk embargo on ordering #HRT patches and supplies are being severely restricted to only 10% of previous orders. I have never come across such an utterly disgraceful situation. Truly unbelievable!

How dangerous is it, I wonder, for women to suddenly come off HRT?

I can guess the priority protocol for food and medicines wrt to the poor and the rich, children and men, women and men, Disabled and able bodied..........
Pet food and medicine?........

woman19 · 21/08/2019 06:31

But I agree, song I wouldn't dream of getting 'naturalised' here if I could avoid it atm.

Songsofexperience · 21/08/2019 06:37

What made me think about the negatives of citizenship was a conversation on another thread about potential exit visas. If it came to pass, as a UK citizen I believe i would have to apply to leave the country, regardless of my other nationality. That's made me think about whether there might be a point in which some people might want to leave and not be able to and the wider implications of having less rights.

Songsofexperience · 21/08/2019 06:41

But we're a long way from that still... I don't want to let a couple of hard right fanatics completely destroy my perception of Britain. We're better than that...

woman19 · 21/08/2019 06:47

Absolutely song I can see that happening wrt to exit visas and capital control....... we have done for a while.

woman19 · 21/08/2019 06:54

Remember in 'Years and Years' the 'earstwhile camps' ?

"meanwhile sites" are being used:

Shipping containers 'used to house homeless children

The report said shipping containers were often located on "meanwhile sites" earmarked for future development

Hoooo · 21/08/2019 07:27

It's occured to me.
It's why I haven't suggested it to mum.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/08/2019 07:31

Everyday is a new bloody hell.

Container camps. Angry

And if I crashed off my HRT I would likely be very unwell.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/08/2019 07:33

I've talked before about the possibility of the govt imposing capital controls

Not allowed to take more than say 20k out of the country - this would be framed with exceptions that are only feasible for the rich, of course, as before

Once out of the EU, that's legal

The UK used to have capital controls from WW2 until the 1980s, when they were abolished as part of SM creation.
The really wealthy got around those controls

The greatest disincentive for anyone emigrating from the UK now, unless they are young and / or haven't yet built up much capital
is if they can't take their assets with them, to start anew, buy a (probably much cheaper) hosue abroad

Of course, if Sterling crashes after Brexit - another 12-25% has been suggested - capital controls on Sterling assets would be rendered unnecessary

BigChocFrenzy · 21/08/2019 07:37

I'm post-meno, but never needed HRT

However, afaik, no rationing here in Germany
So looks a British decision / issue

Looks another thing that the better off can fly over for a few days to obtain from a private doctor

BigChocFrenzy · 21/08/2019 07:40

woman I thought children sleeping in shipping c0ntainers was Trump again ! Shock

It's Britain England
(I'd be shocked if NS allowed it in Scotland)

Hoooo · 21/08/2019 07:43

I can get hrt if I pay £75 for it.

One of the lucky ones who can afford it I guess.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/08/2019 07:45

That's not just Irexit:
that's the Uk govt wanting to take back control of all Ireland

Following British rules
What next - Irish MPs in Westminster to have some say on those rules, or just becoming a colony again

BJ has to be trolling
That surely can't be his serious alternative to the backstop

orangeshoebox · 21/08/2019 07:49

wrt shipping containers: many temporary buildings are based on that. you wouldn't know that they are containers once inside

Ehi, now, have you seen some social housing?? Been inside? I’d take a newly converted container over a post-war built, crappy conditions social housing

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2019 08:14

How dangerous is it, I wonder, for women to suddenly come off HRT?

Are we talking dangerous to women or dangerous to politicians here?

cherin · 21/08/2019 08:14

Jokes aside, some Travelodge are made of shipping containers. If they’re properly done, they can be insulated and we’ll equipped. Minimalist, because there’s no way around he fact they’re tiny, but there’s a whole movement of “Tiny homes” from converted containers. And loads of schools have them.
I think it’s fine to be upset, but save your rage for the general way social services are funded, and organised...

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2019 08:16

That surely can't be his serious alternative to the backstop

Why not?

It's what Conservative members support and want.

The fact its lunacy hasn't entered their heads so far about Brexit why start with this? They've been indulged so far with no one saying "No" firmly.

Johnson is going to rely on his suggestion getting a lot of support in the US to put pressure on the EU. Of course seeing as this is in no way in the interests of the EU they will laugh at it.

This thread is making me feel sick this morning Sad

We would have been in the middle of moving away right now if I hadn’t bottled it. I thought we’d be able to escape later if things got bad, but now it looks as though we’d lose everything, if we were able to leave at all.

How would we go about moving money overseas now, if we wanted to? Is it expensive/difficult? We presumably couldn’t open bank accounts in the EU, but could we give the money to the PIL to hold for us? Or maybe buy gold? Anybody got any bright ideas?
