I think we may well end up with another hung parliament - but with the Conservatives still as the largest party

That'll be the bookies favourite, I suspect.

This time.

However, unless something happens in Labour, the Rossetti votes will go elsewhere. Meaning our Labour MP could lose to a Tory.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 13/06/2019 14:48

3 months late my MP has finally written to me.

He talking about the new Brexit deadline of 29th October? Have I missed something?

QUIZ: Which Tory Candidate are You ? Grin

Fun quiz, but the reality is like choosing your favourite venereal disease

Methodist Central Hall has a very big organ, with I believe the longest pipe in the UK.

woman19 · 13/06/2019 14:51

Approve ? They'd probably queue up to offer themselves to him

Not quite sure why some people believe the Tories aren't a bunch of hypocritical cunts

Check your privilege DGR

ThereWillBeAdequateFood
Are you trying to outdo me (and possibly DGR) for eccentricity/alternate thought? Grin

placemats · 13/06/2019 14:52

It does and it's quite impressive.

I've spoken in this hall, in a political sense, not in a religious sense.

Methodist churches do like their organs, it has to be said.

tobee · 13/06/2019 14:54

Ooh recipe for Chestnut Roast! Sounds yum!

placemats · 13/06/2019 14:59

Johnson is in divorce proceedings with his wife Marina Wheeler who is a lawyer. Married 25 years.

That's a tough negotiation.

DGRossetti · 13/06/2019 15:01

Check your privilege DGR

What does that even mean ?

EarClipper · 13/06/2019 15:01

His new and much younger partner will suddenly be under a lot of scrutiny.

Ellie56 · 13/06/2019 15:07

Ha ha BigChoc just did that quiz and it came back with, "None of the Above."

"Congratulations, you don’t match any of the leadership hopefuls. But fortunately for you, that means you don’t have to deal with Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn, Nigel Farage …" Grin

What a relief.

frumpety · 13/06/2019 15:12

Someone on the radio said the other day , that the MP's will vote for Boris, not because he is the best person for the job, but because he has a track record of winning, and they want to be on the winning team because they want to keep their jobs and/or get better ones in the cabinet.

Peregrina · 13/06/2019 15:13

Thankfully, I came out as none of the above too.

ContinuityError · 13/06/2019 15:14

Would the blue rinse Tory membership approve of Boris's extra marital affairs?

They’ll quietly ignore it because they’ve been reading the Torygraph for 40 years and are under the impression that Boris is intelligent, competent, decisive, insightful, forward thinking etc etc (can’t think whose column might have been indoctrinating them Hmm)

Not that I’m speaking from experience looking at DM

Peregrina · 13/06/2019 15:16

What is Farage's take on all this? He's been mighty quiet for a week.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2019 15:20

Ellie, peregrina I suspect nearly all Westministenders will be "None of the Above."
but it was fun to hunt my candidate for a minute

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2019 15:24

Brexit trumps everything else that would normally disqualify a candidate

and I thought it was an all-time low for the country when he became Foreign Sec

The E27 deeply despise him, so in any discussions after No Deal they won't want to concede anyhing to a man who kept lying about the EU and calling them Nazis
His remarks went down very badly in Germany - hence the lecture a while ago from the local AdF bloke.

tobee · 13/06/2019 15:31

Might be a dumb question but do you 1000% think EU won't reopen negotiations?

RedToothBrush · 13/06/2019 15:31

Would the blue rinse Tory membership approve of Boris's extra marital affairs?

Exhib A: The Christian Right in the USA and Donald Trump.

Would he dare prorogue parliament? I mean that's totalitarian state stuff. Blatant totalitarian stuff rather than the sneaky anti democracy we've seen in the last few years

Raab said he would do it too.

But Boris is saying anything to get elected. Remember he was a remainer until about 3 months before the referendum. Anything could happen. He will say one thing and do the opposite if it suits him. So we may leave without a deal on 31 October, or he may revoke the Art 50 notice. I wouldn't say either are impossible with Boris. But I am going to start stockpiling again.

prettybird · 13/06/2019 15:35

100% that they won't open renegotiations: the negotiation team has disbanded Shock. What more evidence is required? Confused

They might tinker with the Political Declaration but the three essentials of the WA - citizens' rights, the Backstop and the financial settlement - are fixed.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2019 15:39

tobee The EU have repeatedly said they won't renegotiate the WA

They mean it, because weakening the backstop - which is the sticking point - would mean

either dumping Ireland - and wrecking the EU politically
or damaging the Single Market - and wrecking the EU economically

i.e. worse for the EU than No Deal

After Brexit, the main terms of the WA - esepcially the exit bill calculations, expat rights & backstop - will be put in another legal document
(called maybe "Memorandum of Understanding xxxx")
which the UK will have to sign and pass in the HoC before negotiations on even mini-deals can start

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2019 15:40

The EU will let the UK put what pretty much what it wants in the PD - the future relationship - so long as this doesn't conflict with the WA
