I'm going to vote for an MP that supports Brexit and leaving the customs union and single market. What about the rest of you?

Labour

Snog · 31/03/2019 17:34

I don't think any party has an agenda I can even 30% agree with 😭

BercowsSilkTie · 31/03/2019 17:37

PestyMachtubernahme facts aren't something that Dolly values. You need to quote conspiracy theories, wild guesses, and fake news instead Grin

PestyMachtubernahme · 31/03/2019 17:38

But Bercow I am a nerd, I like facts.

whatswithtodaytoday · 31/03/2019 17:39

Safe Tory seat, MP is very much with the Government and supports May's deal. Lib Dems usually do second best here so I'll probably vote for them, unless Labour come out promising a second referendum.

If the IG field a candidate I might vote for them; unlikely though as this is Tory-ville and voted Leave.

PerspicaciaTick · 31/03/2019 17:39

My MP is Mark Francois. He will remain the MP for my constituency by a huge margin.

For the first time ever, I will not vote. I cannot bring myself to participate in anyway in an election which appears to validate that vile man's position.

BercowsSilkTie · 31/03/2019 17:41

Me too PestyMachtubernahme but some can't countenance such times

KennDodd · 31/03/2019 17:42

I live in a super safe Tory seat so I'm going to follow whatever the advice is online and vote for whichever anti Brexit candidate has the best chance of unseating him.

RedToothBrush · 31/03/2019 17:42

Why not vote for yourselves?
Stand for election, mums netters. As party members or independents.

Cos I know what's involved more closely than most!!

It's hard enough with a party behind you, but harder still as a Indy.

There's a Labour incumbent, the LD candidate has wanted to do it since he was 15 and has been waiting for 20 years for the old candidates to decide to stand aside. Plus I'm not welcome in the party as I don't believe in fairies.

And the Tories have someone who has been not very subtle in his local activities about just how much he wants to be the next MP.

You also have to be a member of a party for a minimum amount of time.

That leaves being an Indy. And without support or a public profile of some sort nationally or locally its a fools errade. And not cheap if you intend to do flyers to alert constitents to your mere existence.

Nice fantasy.

Plus my family situation does not lend itself well to the long hours and spending half the week 200miles from home.

EstrellaDamn · 31/03/2019 17:43

SNP until Scotland becomes independent.

KennDodd · 31/03/2019 17:45

@PerspicaciaTick
Please vote. I'm sure your vote won't make a single bit of difference to the result but it might make a difference between your preferred (or least worse) candidate getting their deposit back.

prettybird · 31/03/2019 17:50

Perspicacia - if there is a Green candidate, vote for them (their views on non-men notwithstanding Hmm) as it least it means that they will get more coverage (and hopefully more than UKIP/the Brexit Party Wink) in future elections as the electoral commission and the state broadcaster are guided by overall percentages.

NB: I'm not a Green supporter (I have the SNP to vote for Wink) but I'm just suggesting alternative non-Brexit supporting parties Smile

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 17:52

Tory, with a heavy heart.
If labour were not lead by a man who will sit down with Hamas but can’t stay in the same room as chukka umunna, I’d vote for them. But Corbyn and his acolytes are evil fools. I could no more vote for them than I could the BNP. Just wrong.

KennDodd · 31/03/2019 17:57

@DonaldTwain

I think a vote for the Tories is really a vote for UKIP these days. Fine if that's what you want though.

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 18:00

It isn’t, and in fairness to my local mp, he is moderate and reasonable on the Brexit issue.
there is incompetence, and then there is actual wickedness. I believe Corbyn to be a genuinely malign human being. The thought he could be in charge of this country and use his position to pursue his hatred chills me.

KennDodd · 31/03/2019 18:02

in fairness to my local mp, he is moderate and reasonable on the Brexit issue

I expect he'll be deselected before any election then.

SherlockSays · 31/03/2019 18:05

Absolutely no idea. Our labour MP is absolutely useless so not her and not a Tory so probably an independent or Green, which just feels wasteful

DonaldTwain · 31/03/2019 18:05

No sign of that at all. He’s done an excellent job of explaining to constituents why he takes the position he does. I don’t agree with him, but his approach has been transparent throughout.
I know it suits some people to believe every Tory is producing blue froth at the mouth right now. Ain’t the case.

BangingOn · 31/03/2019 18:08

Think there is a real gap in the market for a new centrist party.

Absolutely agree with this. Our constituency is considered a bellwether and is currently Tory, although not overly safe. Our current MP is a nice local chap who I could vote for as an individual but not as a Tory. We’ve not had a credible Labour candidate in a long time and I cannot abide Corbyn.

TryItAndDieFatLass · 31/03/2019 18:13

Labour without a shadow of a doubt. Any doubts I have over Corbyn wont last as he wont be the leader for too long.

loveshinealight · 31/03/2019 18:15

SNP until there is no longer a need to vote for a party that is fighting for Scottish independence.

Dolly2007 · 31/03/2019 18:15

@prettybird More than 50% of the population go to university now, it's not like this is the 1950s and it's reserved for the cognitive elite. I stand by the fact that Scotland education is poor, private schools are one to two whole years ahead.

OP posts:
PerspicaciaTick · 31/03/2019 18:17

There is unlikely to be a Green candidate or even a LibDem one. I will keep a careful eye on the candidates just in case, but past experience says it will be a Conservative candidate, a Labour candidate and a selection of extreme right wing "Britain for the British" independents.

AdultHuman · 31/03/2019 18:17

Think there is a real gap in the market for a new centrist party.

I would vote for them if they were against self-ID and giving away women's, children's and parents rights to bullying people threatening suicide, issuing death threats along with their name calling enablers. Hmm

wafflyversatile · 31/03/2019 18:19

If, if that is true all the more reason for private schools to be banned and the money invested in a good education for all.
