Westminstenders: Arse about Face

Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

Youre not going to get a revoke so lets just move on from that.

wheresmymojo · 27/03/2019 21:57

Sorry those that were clinging on to Revoke.

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 21:57

Could we end up with a PV on 2 different kinds of PD ?

Seems unnecessary if that is the choice - MPs should do their job & decide

PonyoPonyo · 27/03/2019 21:57

Flowerpower I just shouted the exact same thing at the telly. Infuriating

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 21:57

I dont see it that way BigChocFrenzy. That vote was about whether or not to revoke without a People's Vote whereas the vote on a People's Vote was to put it to the people before revoking if that's what the people vote for.

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 27/03/2019 21:57

woman that’s a good point! We are moving in the right direction, however slowly.

But the ERG rats are now cornered and will be fighting.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 21:58

I agree, Bigley. It'll be remain (revoke) vs whichever deal.

woman19 · 27/03/2019 21:58

This claims to be "the mother of all parliaments" confused

It's an awful demonstration of "democracy" shock. It's a disgrace angry

Heads up, because of expected LML thug gathering in Parliament Square on Friday #Sodem is cancelled.

Poor Soubry and the brave Remain and Women MPs will have to be there though.

Horrendous boorish male behaviour in HOC makes it worse in so many ways.

CordeliaEarhart · 27/03/2019 21:58

I wish Margaret Beckett was my grandma. She's awesome.

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 21:59

The hooting and braying is rage inducing. I think the hooters and brayers think it's part of the charming 'unique character' of the HoC. Whereas in fact it's a load of smelly balls.

tobee · 27/03/2019 21:59

They sometimes have actual fisticuffs in the Ukrainian parliament. We're not that far from than that.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 27/03/2019 21:59

Isn't it nice that they're all having such fun, laughing and bantering together, in the House this evening?

FFS.

Angry
BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 21:59

I read that on Monday there would be a vote between the top 2

  • I don't know if they define "top" as having the most AYEs o the highest net score

I am relieved that No Deal was again so heavily defeated,
but it's grim that Revoke was too

I don't want a PV between 2 different PD options

EweSurname · 27/03/2019 22:00

So they will now put forward the most popular for ranking votes?

BiglyBadgers · 27/03/2019 22:01

Youre not going to get a revoke so lets just move on from that.

Whether I think it would win on a PV or not, if a PV happens then remain has to be on it. That's not unicorns, it's just that to have a PV without the status quo is just not right.

Peregrina · 27/03/2019 22:02

When Margaret Beckett was a caretaker Labour leader, before Blair, I think, she was very capable. It's a pity she didn't stand for the permanent leadership post. Maybe they could ditch Corbyn and put her in as a caretaker again?

Horehound · 27/03/2019 22:02

From what bercrow is saying it sounds like all of those indicative votes can be put on again on Monday. It doesnt have to be only the top few

TatianaLarina · 27/03/2019 22:02

Parliament would not vote for Revoke unless it was it was a straight No Deal vs Revoke. If No Deal has no chance there’s no reason to Revoke.

MPs would rather farm out the choice to the people than press Revoke themselves.

PV has always been an absolutely last resort for me, but we are getting to that last resort.

Brexshitfuuuuuuuck · 27/03/2019 22:03

What DO the DUP want?

phpolly · 27/03/2019 22:04

misogyny on full display in male MPs' treatment of Soubry. No wonder the thugs outside feel they are permitted to harass her

CordeliaEarhart · 27/03/2019 22:04

That was before my time, peregrina, (I was 11 when Blair won in 97) but I'm not at all surprised she did well.

If only labour could ditch JC I could go back to supporting them again. Unfortunately, I can't stand him so I'm in the political wilderness now.

woman19 · 27/03/2019 22:04

Beckett was deputy leader with John Smith. Dream team that never was. Sad

tobee · 27/03/2019 22:04

I think Margaret Beckett did stand or nearly did.

BercowsSilkTie · 27/03/2019 22:04

I've just inhaled 4 kitkats Blush
Would someone please come and rescue us from the twits in Westminster!

BiglyBadgers · 27/03/2019 22:05

Yes, I absolutely agree tatiana. MPs were never ever going to vote for revoke here. I am amazed it got as many as it did.
