Westminstenders: Arse about Face

Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

I've got a whole book on Cantona. Lots of black and white photos.

Holidayshopping · 28/03/2019 17:09

Why has Bercow allowed a vote on the WA tomorrow? Why is the deal different to the previous one?

AutumnCrow · 28/03/2019 17:09

Leadsom sounding smug.

tobee · 28/03/2019 17:10

You wouldn't have thought that they could do it any worse than they have so far, would you? Hmm

tobee · 28/03/2019 17:11

I think Leadsom sounds shaky and again smacks of blaming everyone else

AutumnCrow · 28/03/2019 17:11

Amendment A, Valerie Vaz, also selected to go with it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2019 17:11

I don't quite get what tomorrow's meaningless vote is? What does the WA without the political declaration mean?

DarlingNikita · 28/03/2019 17:13

Thanks Red. Head is spinning.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/03/2019 17:13

What's the amendment?

tobee · 28/03/2019 17:13

Kit Malthouse needs to go up a couple of shirt sizes

prettybird · 28/03/2019 17:14

As we expected, they are trying to split the WA and PD.

Did I also hear Leadsom try to sneak on that having in the unlike event got the WA through, then next week the House would then vote on the WAIB? Confused

And that the PD would be left until sometime before 22 May Confused

dontcallmelen · 28/03/2019 17:14

Has anyone else had enough? I’m just so fecking tired of all the shenanigans & gameplaying it’s sickening, I can’t see a way out it anymore except no deal, too little time & they are still putting party over country, how on earth can people still vote for people like Boris et al.
They are so full of wickedness it’s beyond me, today’s nonsense with WA has just finished me off.

woman19 · 28/03/2019 17:14

@elliotttimes
As I said WA not MV3 - makes Labour, ERG and DUP vote against Brexit on Brexit day. Stunt?

('LeaveMeansLeave will be massing outside HOC/ Westminster tomorrow. Pro EU campaigners have been advised by police not to be there)

jasjas1973 · 28/03/2019 17:15

I thought Loathsome sounded rather awkward, she obviously knows what the Govt is doing is sly! to say the least!

MPs sound rather angry and confused !!! (like everyone else)

prettybird · 28/03/2019 17:15

What does the WA without the political declaration mean?

Nothing Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 17:17

pretty I doubt the EU would extend beyond 12 April without a PD
since the HoC is so divided

So if that's the cunning plan ... Baldrick needs to think up a better one

tobee · 28/03/2019 17:17

How the Leave Means Leave massing goes tomorrow will be interesting/depressing/scary

woodpigeons · 28/03/2019 17:18

I keep thinking about ‘secret plans and clever tricks’ from Roald Dahl’s
The Enormous Crocodile.
It was a family catchphrase but seems apt to describe this government.

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 17:18

A50 requires a framework for the future relationship
That's in the PD

prettybird · 28/03/2019 17:19

I doubt it too BigChoc - but this "Government" and I use the term most loosely Wink as usual thinks it knows better HmmConfused

Holidayshopping · 28/03/2019 17:20

Are they voting for unicorns again?

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 17:20

"Pro EU campaigners have been advised by police not to be there" Hmm

afaik, noone was warned to take down their placards and "not be there" because of 1 million PV marchers

AutumnCrow · 28/03/2019 17:21

Keir Starmer says the proposal is, effectively, leaving with no way forward. Labour won't vote for it. (Although obviously there will be the usual rebels.)

@bbclaurak

  1. Govt source confirms they are laying motion NOW to give MP s vote tomorrow on only the withdrawal agreement - if it passes, Number 10 believes we will leave on May 22nd - it's the last chance, they say, to avoid a longer extension and parliamentary elections
  1. Number 10 confident this works legally as EU Council conclusions last week only specified that the withdrawal agreement had to pass for ratification - (different to previous bill) govt then would publish withdrawal agreement bill next week - doesn't mean they are sure of a win
  1. Bercow says vote can go ahead

NB - if it goes thro tomorrow, then govt would then have to have another vote further down the line, MV 3.5? To get it properly done ..

  1. Number 10 not confident it can go thro, but it's a challenge to Brexiteers to vote against Brexit on what was meant to be Brexit day - they would still have herculean challenge to get the whole thing thro by May 22nd
