Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

JC may use the heavy defeat of the Revoke option to try to exclude this from a PV 😡😡

If so, I would never EVER vote for Labour EVER- nor would DS.

Inaquandry123 · 28/03/2019 08:21

Alan Duncan? Is someone else from this small part of the E Midlands here?

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 08:21

The European Commission press release at the weekend indicates they think No Deal is likely:

As it is increasingly likely that the United Kingdom will leave the European Union without a deal on 12 April,
the European Commission has today completed its “no-deal” preparations.

< however, the individual countries most affected won't be completely ready >

Can anyone help me to word an email to my MP who only voted for no deal?
It was no surprise, he is an utter wanker, but I wanted to say something a bit more intelligent than that.

CordeliaEarhart · 28/03/2019 08:24

I know tories can't oust May until December, but is it not possible for Labour to get rid of JC?

Jason118 · 28/03/2019 08:24

@FaFoutis
I'd just go with that, short, accurate, and to the point Smile

CordeliaEarhart · 28/03/2019 08:25

FaFoutis I'd go with "disappointed that you failed to engage in the spirit of compromise and co-operation".

woman19 · 28/03/2019 08:26

I imagine Corbyn (as well as some in Brussels) watching the petition closely. Heading towards 13% of entire electorate signed now. He likes big numbers. More than he likes his type of red lines. Wink

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 08:26

Concern is:
If 12 April approaches without an agreed option, are we sure that MPs would get the chance to vote on Revoke vs No Deal ? 🤔

Or would May / the Tory machine just run down the clock ?

Even if the HoC does manage to vote to Revoke, say on 11 or 12 April, is there time to legally force May to do so, if she doesn't cooperate ?

So much risk, so many gambles here Sad

lonelyplanetmum · 28/03/2019 08:27

Looking at it logically... based on MPs last night there's a logic in a PV between KCs customs union and Labour's alternative plan!

Except both of those are back of an envelope jobs still and not sufficiently developed. And the no deal on the street leavers would feel shafted. But it's logical to take guidance from our MPs on the options they have most unanimity on.

So do you vote on the principle and then seek EU agreement or develop a detailed plan with the EU to be voted on but risk rejection ? 🐓 🥚

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 08:28

woman Unfortunately, Corbyn is very dim and has never bothered to learn anything.

He probably counts "1,2,3, many" and then puts his shoes back on

KoraBora · 28/03/2019 08:28

My Labour MP pretty much voted for all the sensible options including revoke and seems to be a decent constituency MP. Unfortunately as Corbyn seems to view every vote cast for Labour as an endorsement of him personally I still don't know who I could vote for in a potential GE.

woman19 · 28/03/2019 08:29

Passing the WA is academic now as the ergs under a BJ premiership, have already said they'd trash it.

The EU knows this.

MrsNathanDrake · 28/03/2019 08:29

ValleyOfTheHorses- I'm in a similar boat. Am disgusted by the shit show that is the current Labour leadership. That said, our Labour MP is the awesome Peter Kyle (of Kyle-Wilson amendment fame!) and has consistently been strongly pro-remain and his voting record backs that up. He's not popular with the local Momentum apparatchiks which is a ringing endorsement in my book! Grin

TheMShip · 28/03/2019 08:30

A big problem is there aren't many MPs in the middle who could be convinced, but it does look like some form of soft Brexit is the most likely compromise, with or without a referendum.

Nice. Thanks Cordelia.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2019 08:31

After fretting about tomorrow's MV3 deadline I found the exact EU wording.
Following a request by Prime Minister Theresa May, the European Council (Article 50) agreed on Thursday 21 March to extend the UK's departure date to 22 May 2019, provided the Withdrawal Agreement is approved by the House of Commons by 29 March 2019 at the latest. If the Withdrawal Agreement is not approved by the House of Commons by then, the European Council has agreed to an extension until 12 April 2019. In that scenario, the United Kingdom would be expected to indicate a way forward before this date.

So I think it means that if there's no vote at the end of tomorrow then we get a reprieve til May?

havingtochangeusernameagain · 28/03/2019 08:33

If there's no yes vote on the WA we leave on 12th April unless we come up with another plan.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2019 08:33

No stupid me, it's two weeks reprieve. Blush brain fart there

TheMShip · 28/03/2019 08:34

I'm massively struggling this morning, lots of pain and a stupid WiFi signal that keeps cutting out and reloading

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2019 08:34

Lonelyplanet The EU would be happy with the CU plan - it could be just a permanent version of the all-UK backstop.

The HoC would have to vote on a modified PD,
so before this, legal text would have to be drafted by the EU legal team

It need not be detailled at all, if everyone wants to save time / avoid the final version being voted down on some point.

As it is not legally binding anyway - a new PM can just ask to negotiate something else - I'd go for as little detail as possible, just get something signed off in time to avoid No Deal

Depends if there is more chance of MPs agreeing something with the 22 May deadline looming over them,
or if they have until the end of the year to squabble & dither.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 28/03/2019 08:35

My MP voted for no deal, against the SI extension but did vote for the Malthouse option. I'm not surprised he voted for no deal but why would any MP vote against the extension, it was only a tidying up of domestic law anyway.

You have to weep about their total lack of any grasp on international law.

I don't know why he's a no-dealer. He's nowhere near as rich as JRM or his wife, so he could take himself down with the rest of us. Idiot.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2019 08:36

Really struggling with pain and a stupid WiFi signal that keeps reloading when I try to post anything.
