Westminstenders: Arse about Face

Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

mother your MP is what my 10 year old dd would call socially embarrassing !

Mine voted against everything apart from the first which I think he abstained on.

tobee · 27/03/2019 23:48

Do these MPs like Adam Afriyie actually know what leaving with WTO means? I'm not sure they do.

everythingisginandroses · 27/03/2019 23:50

Dennis Skinner voted for no deal. He is an arse, just like my Tory MP Angry Sad

DeRigueurMortis · 27/03/2019 23:51

Well my MP was right on the money wrt how I expected they would vote.

Sadly they are not representing the majority of their constituents who voted remain.

LoonvanBoon · 27/03/2019 23:55

Oops, I didn't realize there are MPs called Barron and Baron. So it's John Baron (con) who tabled the leave with no deal on 12th April motion, not Kevin Barron (Lab) - I think that's right. Got mixed up upthread.

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 23:55

Paul Brand
@PaulBrandITV
BREAKING: @JacobReesMogg tells #peston that if DUP can't be brought round, then "I will support the DUP, if they are still opposing it". In other words, he's off-side again.

So Mogg is now attempting to u-turn on his u-turn?

prettybird · 27/03/2019 23:58

Doesn't Adam Afriyie realise that the EU's "WTO" terms do not equal the UK's WTO terms? Confused

The EU has many MRAs and specific deals (not full FTAs), with many countries as well as full FTAs with Canada, Singapore, Japan.... (as soon India once the UK is no longer around to block it due to the visas that India wants Wink) Grin

The UK does not Hmm even though in its arrogance it assumed that it would be able to roll over the arrangements and a proportion of the quotas; funnily enough, it couldn't

Idiot Angry

Here’s an unlikely but not impossible Brexit scenario: May brings back just the WA. Promises Labour an election-where they can argue about future partnership-if they vote it through. At same time, May tells Tories they can use until May 22 to elect a new leader for that campaign

Cala it's reversing a reverse ferret the poor animal is getting quite tired and cranky now, let's hope (or not) it doesn't start biting.

tobee · 28/03/2019 00:05

My MP voted revoke. He's remain Tory ex deputy party chairman who got sacked over his remain stance. But I'm still surprised.

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 28/03/2019 00:11

Mildly surprised that my Tory mp doesn’t seem to have voted for anything Confused She usually toes the party line so I expected her to be voting for no deal and I’m happily surprised that she hasn’t. She’s in a bit of a tricky position as our area was a 51/49 split to leave in the referendum, but on the lasest revoke petition we were one of the redder areas with over 16k votes to revoke (we’re pretty rural so that’s more impressive than it looks, I promise Grin )

Has anyone else’s mp seemingly not voted for any of the possibilities?

tobee · 28/03/2019 00:15

I scrolled through and saw quite a few vote against everything mps Utterly. It might me wonder if they were offended at being asked but then why not just abstain?

tobee · 28/03/2019 00:15

Made me wonder that should have read

Calamapo · 28/03/2019 00:18

or a reverse ermine Wink

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 28/03/2019 00:20

Strange isn’t it! I’ve just had a look in the guardian link above and she voted no to most options but abstained on customs union and preferential agreement. I would suppose then that abstaining is now meaningful?

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/03/2019 00:24

My useless slug of an MP voted no to everything except No-deal exit.

The total, complete and utter turd.

DeRigueurMortis · 28/03/2019 00:34

or a reverse ermine

GrinGrinGrin

puppy23 · 28/03/2019 00:40

My MP didn't bother to vote for any, though its probably just as well as I disagree with him on almost everything

LonelyTiredandLow · 28/03/2019 01:19

Mine is Labour and voted for 1,2,3,5 (remain area narrow majority), abstaining from EFTA/EEA and against last 3. Very impressed with her so far - she ousted an old Tory who was so complacent it hurt - am sure he would have been as close to ERG as would be possible if not within it. Really hope she keeps the seat.

MissMalice · 28/03/2019 03:06

My MP voted for no deal and nothing else. Disappointed that that’s his position but more disappointed that he didn’t vote for anything else - how is that in the spirit of compromise?

Propertybrothers · 28/03/2019 04:03

Interestingly neither May or Barclay voted on any of the options.

That surprises me. Or am i missing something?

bellinisurge · 28/03/2019 05:28

My MP voted for the PV. A bold move given that this is a strong Leave area.

Cabbagejam · 28/03/2019 05:39

Frank Fields voted no to everything. Does that just mean I don't agree with the process??

Sostenueto · 28/03/2019 05:55

My MP voted against all bar the last one which he voted for.

BestIsWest · 28/03/2019 05:58

My MP voted Revoke too. She’s a star.
