Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

Were they whipped?

They all certainly need a good whipping.

lonelyplanetmum · 27/03/2019 22:39

Tom Clark

Only 14 MPs need to switch sides for there to be a majority for a referendum

And there were 27 Labour - 10 DUP and 4 independents against and 254 Tories against . Totals 268 295 ( 563 voted)

Peregrina · 27/03/2019 22:39

Still, eventually, 5 years, 10 years, when there is a proper analysis of the whole Brexit fiasco, we might get proper Parliamentary reform, as people say 'never again'. We will also have seen the back of May, Grease-Knob, Johnson, Deadwood, Fox, Davis, who will all have retired to count their money.

ooItsAoBeautifulDayNow · 27/03/2019 22:40

Just to clarify i DO give a shit - I'm passionate about this decision, it's them who have displayed disgusting disengagement from an imminent and approaching deadline that could only weakening our bargain chips.

See pics for a couple of examples of them "listening" to their colleagues about the most important vote in my lifetime so far.

What the fuck are we going to do?!

I hope it's woken people up to the calibre of MPs.

Loletta · 27/03/2019 22:41

I heard Chuka Ummuna say he would only vote for PV or revoke Hmm
Surely the point of this was to vote not just for your favourite option but also for anything you're reasonably happy with and would sorry to avoid No Deal? I'm really disappointed with Chuka

TatianaLarina · 27/03/2019 22:45

No I think Chuka’s point is fair enough. No Deal is unlikely now so it’s a fight between soft Brexit and Remain.

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 22:46

Soooooo WA being voted on on Friday? Anyone?.....absolute disgrace that TM trying to disrupt indicative votes. Absolute shambles but among it all a tiny glimmer of hope hangs on admidst the chaos. Maybe a step closer to PV or an election? Who knows, fuck knows, the dog knows. The No's have it the No's have it.Sad

AutumnCrow · 27/03/2019 22:46

This is a bit like a Pope Vote On A Rope.

Round 1, you go in hard for your ideal preference(s). Round 2, you start to compromise.

If you're lucky, you come out with white smoke and a decision that doesn't destroy everything you hold dear.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 27/03/2019 22:46

Late pmk.

Thank goodness for this thread. Hope your ds has a good night and is less snotty tomorrow red

Sakura7 · 27/03/2019 22:47

Lisa Nandy voted for revoke. Only a couple of weeks ago she was being touted as a potential Labour supporter of TM's deal, and she has always spoken of the need to uphold the referendum result. Some interesting shifts going on...

QueenOfThorns · 27/03/2019 22:48

Can someone please remind me which ones Labour whipped for? My MP abstained on both PV and revoke - has he defied the whip on the PV one?

First, it's a fight CU / softish Brexit vs the PV, on Monday or whenever

Only if PV wins, do we have a chance at Revok as an option and only then if MPs vote for that to be one of the choices

Horehound · 27/03/2019 22:49

Soooooo WA being voted on on Friday

Is it?

Horehound · 27/03/2019 22:51

Wow that's embarrassing, mother!

woodpigeons · 27/03/2019 22:51

You have the same mp as me @Pickle Sarnie.
I agree he’s a sycophant who toes the party line and I could think of a lot worse things to call him.
His replies to any emails are just standard Tory waffle, rather like the reply we all got from the petition.

Do we know for sure that MPs would get to vote on the choices/wording? Did they last time?

woodpigeons · 27/03/2019 22:53

I meant @PickleSarnie.
Too angry to get it right.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 22:53

The WA won't be voted on unless it's substantially different.

IrenetheQuaint · 27/03/2019 22:57

I am running out of words adequate to describe the state in which we find ourselves, and can only emit a faint moan

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 22:57

Oh yes WA is going to be sneaked in I think via WAIB on Friday. Listen to business in the house tomorrow. Cooper thinks they will try it and bought that up in SI debate. Not sure they can do it through WAIB as Berkow has not shifted his position one iota! ( there's a good lad!)

SmallAndFarAway · 27/03/2019 22:58

But surely the standing order from 1604 preventing MV3 can still be overturned if there is a majority for that (hopefully followed by a vote to reinstate it)? Parliamentary sovereignity etc. etc...
