Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 18:23

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Has anyone on Twitter listened to Cash for long enough to opine on whether he's got a point somewhere in that monologue?

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 20:18

The EU have said they won't renegotiate the WA, even during an extension after the UK has dropped red lines

So if the WA is voted down, it's Revoke or No Deal
which do you think will happen ?

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 20:19

I thought the gen consensus was that the EU extension trumped the lack of SI on our side once that was signed meaning 29th March was off the table without doubt...some differences in laws between EU/UK in the interim have (I think) been brushed aside?

Peregrina · 27/03/2019 20:19

If the Tories get thrashed in the forthcoming Local Elections, that might be another reason for her to throw in the towel. Roll on 2nd May.

QueenOfThorns · 27/03/2019 20:21

There appears to be an international conspiracy of colossal bellends. I only hope that our UK bellends can be stopped somehow Sad

woman19 · 27/03/2019 20:21

@IanDunt
If I was in their position, I would conclude that Britain simply wasn't a viable negotiating partner

Hard to imagine how despairing the EU must be seeing all this. Even if the deal somehow could be passed, it would do so on the basis of explicit promises among Brexiters to sabotage it once it was ratified

Passing the WA is almost irrelevant now. We have had failed state status for a long while.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 20:22

Mojo - no, but there was this:

“Labour MP texts: “Just when you think your day can’t get worse Bill Cash makes a speech. God he is a bore.” 😀✔️”

Calamapo · 27/03/2019 20:22

Glyn Arthur
@GPEArthur
Prominent Brexiter talking to journalist off the record,
"We never expected to win, we didn't want to win. What we wanted was to frighten Brussels into giving us a better deal. Now we're all screwed and there's no way out"

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 20:22

Has anyone on Twitter listened to Cash for long enough to opine on whether he's got a point somewhere in that monologue?

When I hear the gravel tones of Bill Cash droning nonsense its a good time to go do something constructive.

Like take a long shit.

There are few MPs who are worse to listen to in the HoC. And that's saying something.

Someone on Twitter reminded me of that cringesome photo op he arranged when he simply had to resign as Foreign Secretary because he could not agree to May's deal.

Also worth remembering that the day he chose to arrange that photo shoot and resign as foreign secretary was the same Dawn Sturgess died from Novichok poisoning. This alone makes him a colossal bellend,

wheresmymojo · 27/03/2019 20:24

Okay I feel better about opting out and watching an episode of House of Cards Grin

woman19 · 27/03/2019 20:24

@IanDunt
Crazed intervention by Brexit headbangers throughout the debate, like human cobwebs, somehow brought to life, given a trace element of cognitive ability, and handed partial control of the country.

Dunt is the Remainiac Shakespeare.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 20:25

Honestly this debate is pointless to listen to anyway. I'm just waiting for the indicative results which is due shortly.

Stella Creasy @ stellacreasy
The indicative vote felt like a student union, complete with t shirted types lobbying. The debate now on SI to move the date of leaving EU - with bill cash in full flow and chope champing at bit to get in-like a monty python sketch. Am truly living the dream... #brexithaos

To fill the time, my German Brexit find of the day:

Big book/music/nice stationery etc shop in Berlin. On the busy ground floor, about 5 or 6 display tables full of things British-related or by British authors etc. (Paddington, David Bowie, you get the picture). Under signs with British flags reading 'We still love you'

:) Sad

I've had a drink 4 times this year. Tonight's the fourth.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 20:33

Les by donkeys could get some great material from this to try and get some of these absurd cobwebs kicked out at the next GE

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2019 20:35

Lonelytired That's right, the extension means we're not leaving this Friday, whatever MPs do.

However, if the SI doesn't pass (it is to change the date on which EU law stop applying )
then the UK may be in a legal muddle, with business, civil service - and the rest of the world - even more confused than now

If the WA doesn't pass
and if May doesn't present some sort of plan by 12 April - in practice by the 10 April EU Council meeting on Brexit -
then there will presumably be no further extension
and

we will leave with No Deal on Friday 12 April

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 20:36

I quite like the debates normally as it's like being in Court with all the (often faux) respect given to your peers. However, the SI debate was terminally dull in the 3 minutes or so I suffered it, what feels like a lifetime ago. It's like the bores feel compelled to fill the full amount of time allocated to the debate. 😴

TalkinPaece · 27/03/2019 20:38

Oh FFS, just revoke or extend for two years so I can see my daughter soon Angry

wheresmymojo · 27/03/2019 20:38

Anyone still watching live? What's going on now?

keepforgettingmyusername · 27/03/2019 20:41

Load of waffling last I checked a few minutes ago. I've turned over because it seems the fucking WA will pass so this is all pointless. Feeling totally deflated and hopeless.

Runningintothesunset · 27/03/2019 20:41

I am - Bill Cash is back up Hmm

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 20:42

Bernard Jenkin is saying that everyone is going to riot cos we are changing exit date and democracy has crumbled to dust and there will be a revolution. Just more dull and with more paint drying sentiment

He's just had everything he's said endorsed by Bill Cash.

And I do really need a toilet trip now!

I hope some people appear to vote for the SI, a disturbing number of the Tory loons plan to vote against it
