Brexit

Why don't Brexiteers value the economy or peace above leaving?

Although I firmly disagree, I can empathise with the reasons why some people voted Leave in the first referendum, but now we know more, WHY do they still support Brexit?

Every time the prospect of Brexit takes a tiny hit, the pound surges. We take a tiny step towards leaving and the pound crashes. Bank of England, CoC, and business all in agreement UK would be worse off outside EU. Why do Brexiteers want that?? I genuinely don't get why they would want their children and grand children to be worse off.

Also, why don't they care about peace in NI above leaving the EU? And why don't they care about the reasons the EU was formed after WW2 to prevent that ever happening again on the continent of Europe??

@TeacupDrama - that's a good summary but you've left out 2 groups.

There is the group, like @Millyonthe, who, despite all evidence to the contrary, convince themselves that leaving the EU will solve all of the current economic problems and actually be good for the economy.

On the opposite side, you presumably have those who convince themselves that membership of the EU is the cause of all that is good in the country and without it, armageddon will happen.

I can respect those in the groups you described, whilst still disagreeing with them. Those who have managed to convince themselves brexit is good for the economy (or equally those who have convinced themselves that the UK will implode without the EU, although these don't seem to be too common), I really can't respect.

If you want to Brexit (or Remain) at least educate yourself as to the potential costs and outcomes of your position. If you believe the costs are worth it in order to achieve your goals, fair enough, but at least know what your costs are.

Because racism.

I honestly believe it all boils down to racism, whatever slant they put on it. Little Englander mentality, sadly.

Yep. MIL voted leave to stop an invasion of Turks.

Apparently the economy will not be a problem as we coped well before the EU and can look forward to a wonderful, close relationship with the US.

Oh, and Brexit will not be a problem for me (EU citizen) as I am married to a Brit ...

My divorce made me worse off financially, but happier in mind. Maybe those who voted leave prefer independence over wealth?

Likening this to your personal situation disregards the fact that leaving is more complicated than the simple analogy of a family break up because of our GFA obligations. We cannot walk away from them. If it wasn't for GFA we would have sorted out our party to Brexit and would be leaving on 29 March.
Either accept WA and we can leave or stop whinging about how hard this is. There is a simple solution and if you choose not to take it because you think the ERG will come up with one by 29 March you are kidding yourself.

@Millyonthe - can I assume at this stage that you're not willing to share all your evidence and data analysis on why brexit won't be bad for the economy?

I suggested that Millyonthe checks out the government guidelines for registration when exporting things from the UK.
Since she exports things she night be a bit busy with the paperwork.
Strangely 'cutting red tape' means more of it. A special UK Brexit bonus.

For those who say that German Car makers will support the UK because we are their biggest market ....
wrong

China and the USA are much more important than the UK

@1tisILeClerc - I suggested that Millyonthe checks out the government guidelines for registration when exporting things from the UK.
Since she exports things she night be a bit busy with the paperwork.

That would explain it then. I'm sure it's not because she hasn't done the research and data analysis proving brexit won't be detrimental to the economy.

I do hope all of the Brexit supporters have been brushing up on their C88's
