Put it to the People March 23rd March

www.peoples-vote.uk/march

While it's cutting things rather fine, the next People's vote is on March 23rd. It's clear the politicians have no clue. They still can't agree on what brexit should look like. Time to take it back to the people.

To people who respond to tell me things like 'we won, get over it',
I'd like to thank you in advance for bumping the thread.

Sweeter in October when there was around 700,000 marchers, there wasn't a single arrest reportedly.

It will be a chance for your dc to take part in probably the biggest, most historic march in the UK.

Checklist for things to take with you (please feel free to add to it!)

  • baby/children stuff obviously, including entertainment for them.
  • water
  • snacks
  • lunch
  • coffee cup
  • phone battery pack and cable
  • placards, balloons, whistles, noisy things.
-Emergency placard repair kit. -Offline map of route with toilets and meeting points marked on it. -comfy shoes

Forecast is for cloudy skies, around 12c, light winds in general but a little gusty at times. Dry. (phew!)

Tomorrow morning, if I remember, I'll start a new thread specifically for the day so that it's easier to load on phones.

Any tips on making placards that are transportable on the tube?!

TheElementsSong · 22/03/2019 10:00

I'm planning to just carry mine proudly on the tube Smile

When I've thought of something to write on them first, that is.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 10:06

I just poke people with mine on the tube when I use it. Don't be shy :) I'm going to walk though this time to avoid the issue.

I’m useless at placards.

In October we sort of loitered by a woman and a young boy who had the most amazing Liberty Print placard saying “taking liberties. It was a real work of art.

SparklySneakers · 22/03/2019 10:53

Hope to see some good coverage on the news and thanks again to everyone who is going tomorrow.
Thank you to the poster adding our names Cake
Let's hope it makes a difference.

Hello!

Just booked a parking space and we are driving down in the morning!!!

Eeeek!

Hopefully ds1 and are making a placard later :)

As well as the above mentioned things to bring: toilets? Are there any public loos?
(Peri menopausal bladder!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 11:11

Well done Chevvy!
I'm just wandering down to the station to pick up our tickets for tomorrow - dont want to have to queue.

If you scroll down to the map, it has loos on it. www.peoples-vote.uk/march

My Dad just texted me to say he’s going to join me tomorrow. The last time we went on a protest march together was the anti-Iraq war one.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 12:33

That's lovely :)

We are all coming (DH, teen sons & me). I'm in pain but am just going to drug myself up as much as necessary! I know we'd really regret it if we didn't go. Thinking of joining up at Trafalgar Square, though, as suggested upthread.

We'll just have to see if the motorway go-slows materialize tonight. We're not planning to set off from Yorkshire until about 8 and are hoping to miss the worst of it. I think the idea of brexiters trying to stop us getting there has just spurred us on.

Flowerplower · 22/03/2019 15:33

Does anyone kbow okease - Is it ok to go to parliament square directly for the speeches that start at 2pm? Or is it better to go to green park at noon and march down with the expectation that you'll get to parliament square in time for speeches? It's just that a friend of mine says these things take so long to get going we wouldn't make it to the speeches and would also be really pressed for time due to needing to get a particular train home.

DarlingNikita · 22/03/2019 15:48

I'm going straight to the square, as I did last time. After the speeches finished I was going back up Whitehall and people were still coming down the street on their way to the square!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 16:01

Good for you Loon.

Flower, no problem at all to do that.
The right hand raised side is where people in wheelchairs can have a better view. Stick to one side or the other to make an early exit.

Those of you in London already - coat / no coat? I don’t want to carry one around all day if I don’t need one!

Anlaf · 22/03/2019 16:05

We've jsut had the coat discussion - no coat, says I.

It's pretty mild today and shd be same tomorrow.

Runningintothesunset · 22/03/2019 16:09

Ace, thank you!

bluebellation · 22/03/2019 16:14

I so wish I could join you but I don't live in the UK at the moment. Wishing you all a great day; someone has to take some notice, surely? 🤞

CurrerBell · 22/03/2019 16:15

We're going on the march (me, DH, the kids and two friends). Got our placards ready! A bit worried as both kids have ASD and might find the crowds and noise overwhelming. But we really feel like we should be there. It sounds like a good idea to go straight to parliament square to avoid getting stuck in the crowds.

Flowerplower · 22/03/2019 16:20

Just to offer another perspective I'm in London today and found I did need my coat. I tend to get cold quite easily and there will be a lot of standing around outside tomorrow so I'll have a coat. I would say at least bring a jacket!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/03/2019 16:24

It's pretty cold today. Definitely coat weather.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/03/2019 16:25

If you go to Green Park you will definitely get moving a lot later than 12:00.
